It didn’t go home with the Oscar for Best Picture, but The Social Network can take some consolation in besting The King’s Speech last night at the 12th annual Golden Trailer awards. The film’s stunning preview, featuring a choral rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep,” became the first coming attraction since The Matrix to win four Golden Trailers, including Best in Show.
The Social Network‘s competitors for the top prize were Blue Valentine, Inception, The King’s Speech, and The Tree of Life. Watch all five below and then vote to see if the Golden Trailer jury got it right:
Blue Valentine (Zealot Production Inc)
Inception (BLT:AV)
The King’s Speech (AV Squad)
The Social Network (Mark Woollen & Associates)
The Tree of Life (Mark Woolen & Associates)

Wow, they really do have awards for everything, don’t they?
ha! 0% for the King’s Speech. Even though this is just for trailers, the “And the got it wrong again” award goes to…the Oscars!
I will forever love the Social Network trailer. Without it I still would not know the genius that is Radiohead.
Seriously? You didn’t know about that song or Radiohead before that trailer came out?
How did Black Swan not get nominated? That trailer was intoxicating.
agreed. though i love the social network trailer..
agree!
It was nominated for like 3 other categories and won best trailer-thriller
Each one gave me chills, so…
The trailer for The Social Network wasn’t just the best trailer of last year, it was the best trailer of the last five years, perhaps even the last decade.
I voted for The King’s Speech because it was great (like the others excluding Blue Valentine).
and the trailer ended up being way better than the movie.
I know that there were more deserving trailers though.
Wait, they had a category for best Summer Blochbuster trailer and they didn’t nominate any of the Harry Potter trailers?!
The thing that makes The Social Network’s trailer so powerful for me is that when I heard they were making a “Facebook movie” I thought God, how stupid. And then when I saw the trailer I immediately wanted to see it. It had a powerful, immediate effect on me. All though, the one I saw had Kanye West’s “Power” as the soundtrack and that’s the one I always think about. It might be the only reason I like that song.
The trailers for The Social Network and Inception are among my favorites. They were both brilliant, as were the movies themselves.

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
