'Bridesmaids' cracked moviegoers up over the weekend: Which scene did you in?

Over the weekend, Bridesmaids pulled in an impressive $24.4 million at the box office. But, an even more impressive feat was how it made many of those moviegoers shake with uncontrollable, gut-busting laughter.

When I saw Bridesmaids for the first time — yes, you read that correctly, first time — it was the scene where we first meet Melissa McCarthy’s character that did me in. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely cracked up during the opening sequence with Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig (and her less-than-graceful exit from his gated residence), her attempt to get the attention of her handsome copper (a crush-worthy Chris O’Dowd) in her car, and, of course, the infamous bridal shop moment (see left, right before hell brook loose with McCarthy, Ellie Kemper and Wendi McLendon-Covey.)

But there was something about the introduction of McCarthy’s unfiltered, puppy-stealing, Air Marshal-loving Megan that made me laugh harder than anything else in the movie. Her musings on the men at the engagement party, her dolphin story, and her general awesome presence made it obvious that a new comedy star was being born (and that my boisterous laugh was, no doubt, annoying anyone seated within a five-row radius of me.)

So, I’m curious PopWatchers, which scene in Bridesmaids made you howl with laughter in the theater this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below!

What kind of name is Stove?

    • Cait

      Are you an appliance?

      • Emma

All the dialogue is sublime but when McCarthy mounted the sink in the posh bridal boutique I almost died.

  • CCGuy

Saw it and loved it. Although the first gut busting laugh was Wiig and Rudolph in the cafe doing clearly improvised girl talk. And since I play tennis, the new phrase when I play doubles is going to be “Get Your @&@^ Together Carol!!

  • Trixie

Melissa McCarthy stole the movie, for me. I laughed profusely during every one of her scenes.

    • Kim

      Totally agree.

    • Hermione

      ABSOLUTELY. “I took 9 puppies!”

    • Ryan

“I’m gonna climb him like a tree”

Melissa McCarthy killed at the showing I went to as well. My sister, who was experiencing some allergies that day, started practically spewing snot and tears she was laughing so hard at some points. For her, the worst(= BEST) one was at the end, when Megan reveals she put a loaded gun in Doug’s carry-on and is cracking up.

    • Omalaura

Hahaha! Her delivery was killer! She was HILARIOUS! And I was super impressed by how completely different Megan is then the other characters I’ve seen her portray.

      • Trixie

I agree, Omalaura–That is not the Sookie St. James I know and love!!

  • curt

I concur, the introduction of her character was a highlight, loved the dolphin story, her encounter on the plan, but when the “lava” flowed at the bridal gown shoppe, I really let it out (laughter, not my own lava). Great movie. Lots of laughs.

When she said she fell off the deck like a pinball I cried I laughed so hard. The imagery alone.

      • Ashley

Agreed! When she said pinball I started crying for the first time in that movie. I will definitely need to go again to hear everything I missed the first time.

The best scene by far was Annie trying to get Rhodes’ attention by breaking the law at the end.

    • C.

This was mine too! I laughed so hard I cried. And then when the laughs kept coming I eventually gave in to a snort..an actual OUT LOUD snort!

  • AlyssaG

I loved the entire airplane sequence. Great joke after great joke. Fav line: “It’s called Civil Rights. This is the 90s.”

    • Haley

OMG same here. After she downs the scotch, magic happens. “catch ya on the flipside, muthaf***as” hahaha. and the way she was to “stove”, omg.. and the “i’m watching you” gesture she gave to the female flight attendant in first-class. when steve says “i’m a man, and my name is steve” she’s almost calling him a woman by saying “you’re a flight attendant”. killer movie..

The entire movie was great, but my favorite scene was Kristen and Maya sing/dancing along to Wilson Phillips at the end.

    • Melissa Lane

Mine, too. Maya’s facial expressions were killing me.

      • Haley

HAHAHA, flared nostrils and all lmfao. she’s a funny one.

  • Martha

Obviously loved the wedding dress boutique scene, but the others that had me dying were the tennis scene where they are nailing each other in the chest, and also the scene where Kristen Wiig does all her dances when she gets pulled over for a DUI. SO wonderful. And since when did Melissa McCarthy become a “rising” star? I’ve followed her for years!

  • Randall

I loved every scene that MM was in but I was almost in tears at the end where she was telling Annie about putting the loaded gun in Dougie’s bag. That had to have been my favorite part, especially her delivery of the line.

    • Emjay

      That was HILARIOUS!!

    • Haley

She delivers the “i seriously found this funny to do to my own brother” attitude very well. Good actress, made me think someone would actually do that to their sibling lol, didn’t seem like JUST a movie line, y’know? Delivered very well.

  • pie thrower

The pooping scene was the best.

  • MsSuniDaze

The car scene where she’s trying to get the cops attention got me. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. And totally agree with you about Melissa McCarthy. She stole every scene she was in. When I saw the puppies in her van… tears!

  • Joanna

While it didn’t make me laugh out loud, the scene that sold me on Megan’s character was her intervention with Wiig’s character. It was that down-to-earth friendship that made the characters so much more believeable than most other so-called chick-flicks.

  • Hillary

Loved McCarthy’s entire conversation with the air marshal and the look on her face when she drove her mini-van filled with puppies by Wiig.

  • Kristina

The entire movie had a lot of these incredibly funny scenes, but I think I laughed the hardest at the VERY end during the scene with Melissa McCarthy right before the credits rolled. It was so unexpected but I was crying from laughing so hard. Really want to see this movie again to see what I missed or couldn’t hear because the crowd was laughing so loudly.

  • Ashley

The scene where they were fighting over the you’re my best friend more at the rehearsal dinner. I think I was the only one in the theater that understood Spanish, because I was the only one laughing so hard… but if anyone knew Spanish, they knew how funny that was.

    • Ern

I don’t know MUCH Spanish, but thankfully, that was pretty basic stuff, so I understood Kristen’s Spanish speech. Dear lord, that made no sense.
