Looks like Fiore Films is keeping Gotti: Three Generations all in the family: A rep for the film confirmed People‘s report that Kelly Preston is joining the film, set to play Victoria Gotti. This, of course, means Preston will be playing wife to John Gotti Sr., who just happens to be played by Preston’s real-life husband, John Travolta. (The couple’s 11-year-old daughter will appear in the film as well, playing the mafia couple’s daughter, Angel Gotti.) So, with the exception of Lindsay Lohan — who is on board playing Kim Gotti — it looks like the film is, quite appropriately, becoming a family affair. But my question is: How much do we actually enjoy watching real-life couples on the big screen?
Certainly, it adds a layer of emotion to each scene. And it’s fun to see two people with real-life chemistry play off of each other in a film. (Just see any of the Scream films — it’s fascinating to chart the relationship between Courteney Cox and David Arquette.) But it’s often that sparks don’t actually fly on screen — just see Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Gigli, Warren Beatty and Madonna in Dick Tracy, and Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s Boom!. Then again, I could just as easily point to Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in Overboard, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, and Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
So which roster of films will Gotti join? I’m fairly optimistic, because we’re not talking about a film like Bounce, a rom-com that flatlined despite the real-life relationship between Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck. No, we’re talking about a mafia film that doesn’t require and will not focus on the buzz-factor of the couple’s relationship. If Gotti kept things all in the family, why shouldn’t Gotti?

Lindsay Lohan will play Kim Gotti opposite John Travolta in ‘Gotti: Three Generations’
‘Gotti’ loses a director, gains critics. Could the film turn the mob boss into an anti-hero?
New details on the ‘Gotti’ picture

Preston & Lindsay Lohan should swap roles. Lindsay looks older & more worn out than Kelly. Gee what a power-house, A-list cast this is shaping up to be. Where are Andrew Dice Clay and Paulie Shore?
They are in cold storage with other unemployed matter including your brain.
Absolutely breathtaking. Oscars for all involved.
We should expect one of the below young actresses to play Victoria Gotti:
Sophia Bush, Evan Rachel Wood, Kat Dennings, Emma Roberts, Miley Cyrus, Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson, Hilary Duff, Leighton Meester, Mischa Barton, Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr
Or Snooki
They already pretend that they are married, so this should be easy.

I LOVE seeing real life couples on screen. Anyone seen a little show called Meerkat Manor?
I really enjoy watching married couples play married couples. One of my favorites were Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. They were awesome together!
I’ve enjoyed seeing Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, and Ossie davis and Ruby Dee play opposite each other. Married couples often have an ease and rapport that must be worked at by unrelated actors. And their timing is often superb.
The BEST real life couple to appear in a film together is Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick in “The Woodsman.” That film is so powerful and haunting. They each did a great job portraying raw, broken people.
Goldie and Kurt are the ultimate onscreen/offscreen couple. The movie Overboard was one of the funniest movies of the 80′s. I still watch it, and its all due to their real life chemistry coming out on the big screen.
I agree! Kurt and Goldie were great and are still a strong couple beating the Hollywood couple odds.
the worst was tom cruise and nicole kidman in eyes wide shut no chemistry at all
The best couple on the small sceeen. Mr.Ed and Wilbur.
Heath and Michelle – Brokeback Mountain.
Helloooooo. Eyes Wide Shut anybody. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman can’t have been that forgotten by the lay public…..On the other hand…
Kudos to the commented who suggested that John and Kelly have been playing at it for years but their best performances have never been on screen so they don’t count. Think back ladies and germs, Ricky Martin and Lucille Ball, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and the best of all Brat and Angie in Mr & Mrs Smith. Their chemistry sparked before they were a couple. Wink wink. No disrespect to what’s her name, but those two had it immediately and its there when they make public appearances together still today. No, they should be making any married couple movie ever made from now on. Or since remakes are so big, ham it up for a remake of Virginia Wolff (Who’s Afraid blah blah blah) p.s. I knew it was Desi, so relax.
