Mayor Michael Bloomberg had a message for the cast of Glee this afternoon: Welcome to Manhattan! At least, that’s the jist of what I think was said at this afternoon’s press conference, held outside the same place Wicked calls home on Broadway.
To be honest, I didn’t hear much between the poor sound at the podium and the chattering foreigners who were arguing with the press over a prime photo-taking position in the crowd. Not that one had to hear much to get the point: Glee‘s in Manhattan filming their season finale, and, like everything else, the city wanted to bring as much attention to it as possible. The surprise? It was a lot of (welcomed?) hoopla — even for the Glee team.
“We’ve filmed in L.A. for two years, and we’ve never met the mayor there,” said exec producer Dante Di Loreto, gesturing to Bloomberg. “We’ve been in New York six hours.” (Simple solution, Glee: Stay here in New York.)
The 15-minute howdy was otherwise uneventful. Cast members (which included most of the boys, minus Chris Colfer and Matthew Morrison) were in attendance for photo ops, and Heather Morris was the sole female cast member present.
Other notable bits: Darren Criss wore a “Dalton” sweatshirt. The two girls behind me at Starbucks after the event were delusional. (“He smiled at me.” “He totally remembered you.” “Well, I have a very recognizable face.”) And considering the amount of people in blue on hand, I’d say the NYPD is more than ready for Glee fever. (Okay, it also could have been for the mayor…)

I think he was serious as well but to be fair, there are tons of shows/movies being shot in NYC as well. I don’t think the cast of Gossip Girl have ever met Bloomberg. Clearly, he is a fan of this show in particular.
Well I guess that spoils the finale — they actually ARE going to Nationals this year! Nice spoiler alert!
Seriously? They sang “Empire State of Mind” in the season premiere. Obviously they have been set to go to Nationals all season.
Also, at the end of the Regionals episode (‘Original Song’), the woman who announced the winners said that New Directions won and were heading to Nationals in New York.
The fact that they won the Regionals competition in March 16′s episode meant that they were going to Nationals…We’re a month past the spoiler alert :\

since they won regionals, we all knew they were going to nationals. they even mentioned it in every episode since they won. so its not a spoiler…

Popstar magazines website actually has some cool pics and video of the Glee gals filming a music scene in Times Square. (don’t judge me for following popstar on Twitter pls. haha).

Exactly how man of the male cast members has Ryan Murphy cast after going down on him? I am guessing all the added guys this season as well as the main high school guy who can’t sing for crap, at least. from the original cast. Ryan Murphy = Casting couch egotistical maniac.

So happy that Darren Criss is there!! I don’t get why though cuz the Warblers lost so they wouldn’t be going to Nationals. Hopefully he’s there to support Kurt and New Directions! Which means Klaine is still going strong at Nationals. LOVE =)

I wish I’d thought of this sooner, but it would have been so neat to see cameos by some of the stars of Fame, who would basically be the Glees grown up. I wonder where they all are now?

Ok people. Lea, Jenna, and Matthew have all been on Broadway, they do a lot of “Show Tunes,” and have had prior Broadway performers Kristin Chenoweth, Carol Burnett, and Idina Menzel on the show, so it’s not a stretch that they’d make a big deal. Broadway attendance is up since Glee went on the air. Hence, Glee is good for NY business, ergo Bloomberg would be happy to have them there.
Darren Criss was at the Saturday matinee performance of “How to Succeed” and my daughter met him. Nice guy.
