Justin Bieber, paparazzi target, fails to find peace in the Middle East

United Nations, put this afternoon’s agenda on hold: Justin Bieber’s hopes for an enlightening experience in Israel this week were all but diminished when the paparazzi allegedly intruded on the pop star’s pilgrimage. The 17-year-old “Baby” singer, who is currently out on his world tour, was visiting the holy land sites before his scheduled April 14 show in Tel Aviv, Israel. But it was clear after the pop star took to his Twitter, he was not having the trip he’d envisioned.

On April 11, Bieber tweeted that he was “in the holy land and i am grateful for that. I just want to have the same personal experience that others have here.” He had also told followers, “[I] just wish got a little more space and privacy from the paps to enjoy this time with my family.” By the following day, it seemed his tweets had fallen on deaf ears. “You would think paparazzi would have some respect in holy places. All I wanted was the chance to walk where jesus did here in isreal,” Bieber wrote from his page on April 12.

He continued to blast the paps from his Twitter: “They should be ashamed of themselves. Take pictures of me eating but not in a place of prayer, ridiculous….People wait their whole lives for opportunities like this, why would they want to take that experience away from someone.” In what could be interpreted as his final straw, the teen vented, “Staying in the hotel for the rest of the week u happy?”

Still, it wasn’t the only troubling thing the star had to deal with on his venture. Israeli newspaper Haaretz had reported the famously coiffed Canadian had a planned meeting with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but that it had fallen through after Bieber had allegedly refused to meet with injured children from the area. Say what you will about the Biebs, but he doesn’t exactly strike us as the type to snub kids that have been through some major trauma. Bieber’s camp also denied that he had turned away the children or Netanyahu and that the meeting had never actually been finalized.

Bieber again took to his Twitter to air his grievances about the whole thing, as he wrote on the Monday, “i want to see this country and all the places ive dreamed of and whether its the paps or being pulled into politics its been frustrating.”

While it’s certainly easy to commiserate with Bieber’s frustration (no one wants a vacation ruined, particularly one of that much significance), lest we need to remind the youngster that worse things have happened in that region of the world. Clearly, the Biebs isn’t exactly ready to become an international Ambassador anytime soon (although, what 17-year-old who makes 3-D concert would be?) Still, it’d be nice for the kid to get to enjoy his time there a little bit.

What did you think of Justin Bieber’s plight in the Middle East, PopWatchers? And will Bieber be able to find peace anywhere?

People say that celebrities know what they’re getting into with the press (it’s a small price to pay, etc etc), but I do feel bad for the kid. It’s obvious that his faith is important to him, and that he wanted to have a meaningful experience. Visiting Israel can be a deeply personal experience; being in Jerusalem for the first time took my breath away. He did deserve a chance to feel that for himself.

I agree, but then again, he obviously is running with a camp that doesn’t know how to keep him in privacy too well. I was in Israel last year and I am a few days out to head back for a Global Leadership Summit for Young Innovators, and it’s an amazing place… Maybe he should just go unannounced next time? “Vacations” don’t have to be tweeted/displayed to the world, especially when the goal is privacy. Ho hum – it is what it is!

“Staying in the hotel for the rest of the week u happy?”

I heard the ‘paps’ have responded…

    Poor “baby, baby, baby, no”

    • Alexis

If u dont like Justin Bieber than why are u reading about his life stupid

Shows how much he knows, he thinks Jesus actually walked on the Earth??

Someone should inform him that there is no Physical evidence that Jesus was even born let alone died. No historical records on Jesus except for scripture from the bible written 150 years after…. that would be like 9/11 happening and you don’t see a news report about it for 150 years..

I guess it takes an idiot to mold like clay.

Walking were Jesus did would be amazing! Justin should have got the same experience as everyone else, but didnt because the paps.Justin needs his space.

    • anna

Jesus did walk on earth! Its fun to go to church and learn about it too. Im glad justin knows that!

    • michael99

actually, i am not religious, but everything you just said is wrong. there are three mentions of jesus in historical records of that time. there are independent letters, written by people purportedly there, who discuss him. It is beyond historical dispute that jesus existed. Where you go from that point is a very different issue.

    • Jane

There is actually historical proof that Jesus did exist & not just in scripture. Many atheists would say the same thing. They obviously don’t believe He is God but Jesus was here on earth.

    • Studied

You need to do some research. There are 18 secular sources for Jesus outside of the bible and don’t be so quick dismiss the Gospels. If you have read all the reasons not to believe, then I suggest reading some of the reasons to believe. Try with an open mind and look towards credible scholarship.

Memo to Justin: If you don’t want the paparazzi descending on you like locusts, don’t tell them where you’ll be. Putting out schedules and press releases invites them to attend your ‘private’ events. Hire better security and more of it, like the really great artists do, and the paps won’t find you so easily.

And could you please stop whining all over my timeline. It’s annoying.

    • Miss Talk

      Thank you.
When Lady Gaga went there, everything went down pretty well.
If you want peace, Justin, stop twitting about your out and abouts.

  • Ian Kleinbock

If this guys faith was all that important to him, and this ‘fame’ is getting in the way of it don’t you think he could consider that the two are incompatible? Someone said ‘he deserves the chance to…’. Actually being someone like him they KNOW what the costs are for privacy when you are that ‘famous’. Go hand in hand.

In addition to economic boycotts, cultural boycotts are needed against that dastardly Israeli nation.

When the Biebz grows up, he’ll realize he visited a colonial, criminal entity.

  • Liz Lemon

I’m surprised the paps are actually messing with him in Israel. But he should be used to it by now.

  • Luchito

If he wanted to truly have a personal experience in the holy land, don’t do it while on a publicly announced tour. Just go during a time that you are off, and don’t tell anyone you are going. But I’m sure that will never happen, because no matter how much he hates the press, he would hate it more if they weren’t around.

    • SayWhat

Agree. Plus, it’s probably not a good idea for him to dress the way he normally dresses. Use some of your brain fer cryin out loud.

  • Riley

He’s such a little, sorry make that BIG crybaby!
