Stephen King and John Mellencamp’s long-delayed stage collaboration, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, has finally scared up a debut date. The play will start previews on April 4, 2012 at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre (a launching point for several Broadway works, including the Tony-nabbing Aida and The Color Purple), with the official opening date set for April 11.
A little diddy about two dead boys and girl, Ghost Brothers covers 40 years in the life of a witness to the their violent demise in small town, late-’50s Mississippi. King (whose Carrie inspired the 1988 Broadway production of the same name) penned the play’s book, while Mellencamp wrote the bluesy music and lyrics. Oscar winner T-Bone Burnett will supply the musical direction, and Alliance’s artistic director Susan V. Booth will helm.

I think you mean it opens April of 2012…
Looks like a winner
Wish I could see it
I have heard about the musical for years now. I am happy it is finally happening, as I am a huge Mellencamp fan. Hope it does very well.
I live in Atlanta and often get season tickets to the Alliance. When I got the list for the next season, I was surprised to see this on there and wondered if it was the premiere. Just ordered my tickets for next year!
Umm…I think you mean “a little ditty”. A diddy is something totally different.
This post could not be more on the level!!
