'True Blood': Alexander Skarsgard says Eric will be 'innocent' [insert Stephen Moyer pout]

Perhaps you’ve already read our recap of last weekend’s Paley Center panel with the cast of True Blood, but even so, you’ll want to watch the highlight reel below. Those upset that there were no Jason spoilers in our recap will at least get to see Ryan Kwanten here, feigning anger when Anna Paquin insinuates that Jason is too stupid to be helpful. The best part, however, comes at the 4:00 mark, when Alexander Skarsgard teases Eric’s amnesia. “He doesn’t know who he is anymore,” Skarsgard says, soliciting screams from audience members who’ve either read Book 4 of Charlaine Harris’ series and are hoping that True Blood creator Alan Ball keeps a certain TV-MA shower scene or simply want to see Skarsgard show off more of his comedic chops. “So like 1,000 years of resentment for humanity is just gone. He’s very innocent and doesn’t know who he is,” he continues, then pauses as Stephen Moyer leans over and shoots him an adorable pouty face (pictured). “[He's] suddenly very vulnerable. So Eric needs help.” Presumably, Sookie is the one who helps Eric through his identity crisis, but Skarsgard plays coy. “There are a lot of friendly people in Bon Temps that are kind enough to help Eric,” he says. Blonde people? “There are blonde people in Bon Temps, yes.”

      Ditto!

  • Shellibelli

love the yikes yahoo yum quote from the book lol great part!

  • Boop

Sookie belongs with Eric. Stephen Moyer is very nice and everything, but Eric is her soul mate.

    • Connie

Sorry, but nothing has happened on TB between Sookie and Eric to support your ‘soul mate’ claim. If anything, she hated his guts at the end of S3, and for good reason.

I definitely think Bill and Sookie need a break, but I root for them to get back together. It appears that everything is not as it seems and Bill will be redeemed. It’s just going to take time.

      • Mina

        Bill and Sookie are OVER.

      • Sandra

Sorry Connie, but you are delusional. Bill has betrayed Sookie, and you still want him. Crazy.

      • Mari

Alan Ball has now said twice that Bill and Sookie are soulmates, not E/S. This is True Blood we are talking about not the books. And yes I have read all the books and still see Bill as the hero.

As to the shower scene, it has already been done, between Bill and Sookie and it was sweet, tender and sexy.
Bill and Sookie may be over for now, but as Alan said, they will be on a long journey back to each other.
And BTW, Stephen M is a gorgeous, sexy and very funny man! Anna sure knows that!

To Sandra, Eric has put Sookie in danger countless times, she was attacked, beaten, almost raped and almost killed each time, for his own agenda, while he knew and wanted her. Talk about betrayal. And calling in Lorena? Add coward to that as well.

And YOU still want him? That is what is delusional.

      • Jenne

How can they call you delusional. There WAS NOTHING in seasons 1 2 or 3 that shows Eric and Sookie are soulmates, they’ve barely had a personal conversation yet. They know next to nothing about each other.
        Plus, Eric Betrayed Sookie Too.
The show may be forcing Eric on us, but you can’t change whats been aired. Bill and Sookie may be over, but that doesn’t mean I want to watch the Eric Northman show.

      • Fatwa

Jenne, then Don’t watch because whatever you say bill is done, kaput, finished! It’s the Eric northman show now whether you like it or not!

      • lela

        To fat,
Its way too funny that you and some others believe that Bill is not going to continue to be a dominant prescence on the show.
He and Sookie are the core of the show!

      • D

I personally think AB’s obsession with Sookie and Bill is ruining the show. I enjoyed them a lot the first season but that was it. I like each of them better when they are seperate from each other. Their scenes, especially the last season, remind me of bad soap opera. So tired of their so-called true love and syrupy dialogue. I would rather see Sookie paired with anyone at this point as long as it isn’t Bill. They make a nice couple in real life but that doesn’t mean they have to be together on TV.

      • Selene

Bill and Sookie are only over FOR NOW.
That is ok, like in the books, Sookie will always think of Bill when she is feeling down. He will always be special to her!
She needs to experience others and learn of their REAL betrayals, then she will realize what she had with Bill was the real deal.
        SOULMATES!

      • whatevs

I think Boop was referring to the books. Sookie and Eric have a super hot relationship. Bill is special to her, but not her soulmate, again, in the books.

    • Malina

Eric will never be innocent. If any one thinks that this convenient amnesia is a “get out of jail” card, you are sorely mistaken.
I cant wait for Sookie to find out all his lies and betrayals (which outnumber anything Bill was ORDERED to do).
Then we will really see some action.

  • miss k

Oh my. Just read that excerpt. *Fans self* Smokin’ hot!!!

  • wooster182

My instincts just keep telling me that Alan Ball is going to find a way to screw season 4 up for the Eric/Sookie fans. I’m trying really hard not to get my hopes up because I just know I’m going to get sorely disappointed. There’s no way he’s going to let Bill disappear as he does for most of book 4 and I doubt he’ll really delve in Sookie and Eric’s relationship. My guess is that Eric will be an amnesiac for 4 episodes if we’re lucky. I so hope I’m wrong.

    • Gemma

Thats pretty disrespectful to Alan Ball, wooster, But then many of you Eric fans are.
Bill and Stephen are not going anywhere, thank god. He is the lead male of the show.I give many thanks to Alan for seeing the real story in the books and acting on it.
Alan Ball, True Blood and Bill rule!

You dont like it then dont watch.

  • mawhi

    We get it, he’s Spike.

    • jj

      Who Eric?

      • Claire

I’m a big Spike AND Bill fan. Call me crazy but those two characters just do it for me. I’m ambivalent about Eric.

  • azkarenlr

PLEASEEEEEEEEE let their be 17 more seasons!!!!!!!

  • Morgan

Joe looks like a kid in a candy store and I love it. He makes my day.

  • Sandra

I love Alex! He looks gorgeous! And Eric is the best of True Blood.

  • Jenne

    EW
True Blood is a great show with a great cast, a large cast. If you only cover one of the actors and one character I will stop reading here.

    • Fatwa

      Then stop reading!

    • Gemma

      Well said Jenne.

    • amy

The reason most of the posts are about Eric/Skarsgard is because he has the most fans and hence they would get the most hits. Not a lot of people care about Bill/Moyer except for a bunch of Bill’s babes. Did you see the reception Skarsgard got at Paley as opposed to Moyer? It’s business for EW,that’s all.

      • Jill team Bill

I heard Bill get alot of love when he walked out on stage! If Alex got a little bit more, well good for him. Stephen was the most animated on stage and got the most attention for his comments, which were so entertaining.
Did you see the video of Anna and Stephen signing autos afterwards by the car? A woman wearing a team eric shirt was sure anxious to get a photo with Stephen. That says alot.
And there are alot of Bill lovers out there, we are just not dominated by infatuated tweens. We have more respect and dignity.

  • Jenne

And before any body complains it’s a knock against Alex, it’s not. But he is only one character and should not be getting almost all the publicity. This is not Vampire Diaries aimed at silly teenagers. True Blood is supposed to about so much more than seeing a “cute” guy naked.

    • sammy

Please! I am a fan of both Vampire Diaries and True Blood, and I can acknowledge that the plot and writing of TVD’s second season is far superior to TB’s third.

      • Jenne

I tried to watch Vampire Diaries, it’s awful, awful, awful. Mediocre acting all around, and clearly aimed at teenagers – they are in HIGHSCHOOL.

    • D

If you think The Vampire Diaries is aimed at “silly teenagers” you clearly have not been watching the show. I think maybe you are confusing it with Twilight. TVD is awesome, I agree with Sammy that it has been so much better than TB’s third season which was sorely lacking IMO.

      • jesse

tvd is nowhere near as good as true blood if you think so you should stop watching true blood you idiots

      • amy

TVD sucks! Seriously, I had a friend who was saying how awesome it was,and I gave it a try. Ugh! Bunch of pretty white people getting into trouble, a heternormative society (no gay people) a token light skinned black person with some rubbish plots. I agree True Blood S3 was a mess, but it was still the campy ridiculous funfest with tons of humor and amazing characters compared to TVD.
