Each week, Survivor host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Redemption Island.
The alliances Boston Rob and Russell are in on their tribes are pretty clear, but play a little “Survivor What If?” with me, Jeff: What if Rob pulls the purple buff at the start of the game, and Russell the orange one? Tell me how the teams would be different and whom you think those two would be aligned with had they ended up on the opposite tribe.
Wow. Great question. Surprised I never thought of that myself. I think Russell might have been a bit more welcomed on Ometepe. Grant, Matt, some of the girls might have initially been more open while Kristina and Francesca and Philip would probably be against him. If Rob were on Zapatera I think most the tribe would still be wary. I think they would see Rob much the same way they see Russell – as a guy who has played before and is therefore a major threat. In general Zapatera seems very reluctant. Just in general. Reluctant.
You know I’m a stickler for the rules, Jeff, so I’m a bit flummoxed about the Immunity Challenge. I clearly heard you say that the contestants had to “smash a tile and retrieve a key,” yet I also clearly saw Grant not smash anything, but instead just grab the key off the rope. I’m throwing penalty flags all over my living room! What gives?
Well, the truth is you are being a stickler and yet… you do bring up a good point. There are certain rules that are “soft” rules and others that are “hard” rules. The point of the challenge was to get back with a key. Breaking the tile was to give the challenge some action. I make gut calls at times like this and yes it could have backfired if everybody had tried to grab their tile rather than hit it, but my hunch is very few people are as physically gifted as Grant. I’m okay with how it went down.
Secret federal agents raid Tribal Council, throw a bag over your face, kidnap you, airlift you to a secret location, remove the bag, point a gun at your head and force you to get either a giant lion or gorilla tattoo on your arm. You search your pocket for a spare Medallion of Power (which will automatically give you a 20 percent advantage should you choose to engage your captors in hand to hand combat) but there is none to be found. You have 10 seconds to choose the beast that will adorn your body for the rest of your years. GO!
Funny coincidence, last night I was doing a “live tweet” during Survivor and I asked that question online… am I a lion or a gorilla? I’d have to go with the lion. I like their hair. I’d have my lion lounging in the sun, with his lioness and cubs at play nearby. My lion wouldn’t have a care in the world, cause he’s a lion and nobody in the jungle messes with the lion.
Before you leave, hook us up with a tease for next week’s episode.
Next week history is made with…our first duel! Francesca taking on Matt. Redemption Island is on baby!

I miss Jeff’s blogs. Far more entertaining than answering a few questions.
So there will be no more blog from Jeff ? … dang .. I’ve been waiting around for nothing … why Jeff .. is that so much to ask ????????????
He does have a blog on his own website @ jeffprobst.com.
Jeff has his own website now for his blog. Jeffprobst.com.
I agree. Jeff’s blog is way better than these STUPID questions irrelevant questions he’s being asked. BRING BACK THE BLOG!
I tried to read the blog on Jeff’s site, but the site keeps crashing and it’s just not working. Epic fail, Jeff… epic fail.
Jeff has his own site now….blog is there.
http://www.jeffprobst.com/
Thanks to those who posted jeff’s website! I’m off to read that blog!
Agree 100%. Especially when the questions turn out so lame.
Agreed!!!! These questions get to the heart of nothing. When he’s allowed to speak in his own voice, it’s far more interesting.
He has written blogs on his website, but so far no video blogs as he promised. WARNING! Someone is posting spoilers in the comments of Jeff’s blogs. Not sure if they’re accurate, I only saw the first 2 names which were correct before I clicked away. But be warned that someone is putting potential spoilers in the comments after his blogs.
thanks, darclyte… I have had the last few seasons “ruined” by the lack of suspense at tribal.
Mega thanks for the warning. Will know to read the blog ONLY.
Totally agree!
I totally agree!!
Me too!
I fully agree. I prefer Jeff’s blog. The questions are not doing it.
me too!
We don’t even get to ask the questions – I THOUGHT they’d read the comments and come up with questions based on that. These are questions Dalton has, not necessarily us. Though I did like the first question. I disagree with Jeff’s answer – no way Matt would have gone in with Russell. The girls – yes, quite possibly, but not Matt. As for the other tribe, Jeff is under-estimating Rob’s charm and savvy at playing the game. Rob would have sorted out how to get in there. He’s just really smart socially and also phyiscally extremely strong. They would not be gunning for him the way they are for Russell.
I felt last seasons blog just wasn’t as good as it used to be. Maybe the Q&A are for the best.
I agree – Jeff’s blogs were much more comprehensive and interesting.
Boring
Miss Jeff’s blog, and HATE Russell and Rob being there. Everyone knows their game. Not cool. In no other Survivor would Matt be voted off for shaking an opponent’s hand. He’s too strong in challenges. Since Rob said something, he’s gone. In Rob’s first season he was the lazy young guy with Sean, and nobody listened to him. At the other camp everybody’s watching Russell and the 2 girls because they know his game. It’s better when everyone is a strangers and they go in blind.
Actually, he was more voted off for showing he making a strong alliance with a girl there. Something that worked well for Rob, therefore could work well for anyone. I would have voted her out instead, but I wouldn’t have needed Rob to tell me it’s a good idea to break them up quick.
Rob was jealous because he wants all the young, hot chicks and Matt got in his way.
Although Russell will always be entertaining and rob is also somewhat entertaining, I agree that all new people would be the best. However, you will also have duds like last season. They nneed to move away from hiring recruits and instead take applicants, like myself.
I miss Jeff’s blog too. This Q&A is BORING.
Ditto!
Tritto.
Totally boring… Jeff, please bring your blog back!!!
or at least answer OUR questions.
That was it?? NO JEFF!!! We want more, we want you! LOved Matt getting blindsided, I didn’t want another ‘Fabio” on the next season. Sux that Kristina used that idol. Sweater man calling out Russell was Awesome. Next week looks like a show down,However, I hate when Russell refers himself in the 3rd. person. Really? People do that? Here’s a question: Why does you snuff out their flame Jeff? Their “kinda” still in it & need it for Redemption. It’s dark man, give them a break until they lose the 2nd. time—Just Saying!!
HY
Love & Miss your Blogs Jeffery
Why Do you? Can’t spell. lol
This is incredibly boring. Sorry Dalton, I usually like your stuff. I won’t be reading anymore though. Please bring Jeff’s blog back!
I agree. I miss Jeff’s blog too. Even when he was talking about his patio furniture it was very entertaining. Come on Jeff, puleeze???
He still does his blog just not on this site. jeffprobst.com
I CAN’T BELIEVE THERE WILL BE NO MORE BLOGS FROM JEFF … COME ON JEFF , IF YOU START SOMETHING , THEN FINISH IT .. YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE DONE THEM IF YOU WERE NOT GOING TO CONTINUE THEM .. I NEVER THOUGHT JEFF WOULD HAVE BEEN A QUITTER …
HELLO ALL JEFFS BLOGS ARE NOW ON HIS SITE. READ PREVIOUS COMMENTS
JEFFPROBST.COM you will get his blog there
Lions don’t live in jungles.
I want Jeff’s Survivor blog back too! He is hilarious!!
borring. bring the blog back
hey everyone just go on jeffprobst’s website to read his regular blog
hey everybody, chill. go to jeffprobst.com. Dalton cites it at the end of the Q&A. it’s pretty much jeffs old blog just in a diff location.
Jeff posts a very good blog on his website jeffprobst.com. So now we have a blog plus these questions. BONUS!
So far there hasn’t been a new blog about the episodes, it still has “5 days until Survivor premieres” instead of a blog about each episode. #websitevlogfail
Correction, I meant no video blogs. He DOES have written blogs, and they’re very good, but no video blogs that he promised so it’s still #websitevlogfail for Probst.
Blindsiding Matt and sending him to Redemption Island seems like a HUGE risk. He is smart (pre-med student) and appears to be in pretty good shape. He could possibly be the guy who wins all the duels on the island and gets to come back to the game. I would have either sent crazy Phil, or perhaps Matt’s “island girlfriend” is I wanted to breakup that pair. We’ll see if this comes back to bite them in the behind. Also, I’m disappointed that Probst is supposed to be “vlogging” on his site about each episode, yet he STILL hasn’t posted a video about last week’s episode, let alone this one. The video blog on his site is still “5 days until Survivor premiere.” Weak sauce, Jeff.
He does have blogs on his site, but not the promised video blogs.
He may have had a harder time getting the rest of his alliance on board for voting off his “island girlfriend” without the “he shook hands with the other tribe” reasoning.
