Image Credit: Donna Svennvik/ABC; Patrick Ecclessine/FoxIn this corner, a sweat-suited despot who won’t think twice about using you for cannon fodder. In the other corner, a steely journalist who developed her skills as a press aide for the Nixon White House. Glee‘s Sue Sylvester meant to insult Katie Couric on Sunday night’s episode, when she responded to the CBS anchor’s question with a sneering, “I hate you, Diane Sawyer”…
…but apparently, Sawyer saw the show. Her ABC World News deemed Sylvester a Super Bowl “Loser,” and Sawyer signed off her Monday evening newscast with a “Watch out Sue Sylvester. Watch out.” Oh, it’s on. Sawyer tweeted Sylvester, “As a frm rejected Seneca JV wanna-be cheerleader I’ll meet you in the gym – bring the cannon.” Sylvester, a.k.a., Jane Lynch, responded in kind: “Bring it on, Diane Sawyer @ABCWorldNews. Your next gig will be hosting “Good Morning Emergency Room.”
Clearly, it’s all in good fun — that will certainly be resolved in some mega meta cameo in the future. But I’m determined to keep this feud alive, fake or not. And I’m not so sure that Sylvester hasn’t met her match in Sawyer. As ABC News’ John Berman says, “You don’t want to mess with Sawyer.”
Whose corner are you in, PopWatchers?

If this happens, it’s going to be beyond awesome.
This is good ole fashioned good natured fun. At last.
Love it – finally someone with a sense of humor!!!
I second that!
I love Diane Sawyer!
Is she going to to have Dina Lohan (and her dog) on too?
Dina Lohan – should take it as a compliment. Where else would her sorry name come up if not as the worse loser on a top rated show. Wear your sorry self badge with pridge D-LO. Your kids will not bring you this much positive fame.
Won’t someone please stop this hateful rhetoric….. oh wait, that’s Sue’s thing…..carry on! I hope Sue references the ‘lamestream media’ in future Glees !
That is hilarious! Glad they can both have a sense of humor about it. I think Sue’s comeback about “good morning emergency room” takes the cake though! Hilarity!
Major props for both of them… this could be too much fun! The fun play makes the joke that much funnier!
Good morning emergency room might make an awesome show!
I’d totally watch it!!!
This makes me love diane sawyer even more. thank goodness for people with senses of humor
I think it is terrific that these ladies are having fun with it. The show is a pop culture phenomenon (like it or not) and you just need to embrace it. Dina and Sparky Lohan should just be glad they were relevant for a recent moment in time. Now that they have their panties in a twist, they just can’t let go. (Why is it that Dina was not on one of the RHO shows from Bravo? I think she would be a fit for one of those shows…)
WHOSE.
It’s great to see that Sawyer has a great sense of humor, confiring my belief that she is all-around awesome (and still looking GREAT, but that’s neither here nor there.)
The only issue is that I never saw the joke as a dig on Sawyer at all. I saw it as a dig on Katie Couric: as if Sue didn’t even know who the hell Katie was and thought she was actually Diane.
confirming*
WHOSE corner. Whose. Not who’s.
It was so funny watching that clip of Diane Sawyer’s kissoff response to Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester character on Glee as she signed off her Monday ABC World News broadcast. Obviously she watched that show! And Sue was really going after Katie Couric with the intensity of that interview on that Glee episode.
Let it die, Laroque. The writers of “Glee” are doing just fine without you.
