Don’t you love it when parents or grandparents wade into the shallow end of pop culture? Chances are, though, your folks aren’t nearly as clever as Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller, who tackle the Kardashian phenomenon in their latest Stiller & Meara web short. Meara has no love for Bruce Jenner’s extended brood, calling them “drecky people”: “They’re Snooki stretched out.” Leave it to Stiller to be the informed voice of reason and sensitivity. I love their relationship. And yes, the Kardashians are drecky.
I once shared a cab with Anne, and she was a mensch. Never in a million years could you have been able to tell that some 19 year old schlub was riding along with a famous comedy legend. We both were waiting for a cab to come up, and when it arrived I deferred. And she said, “Oh, just get in. We can share it.”
