Why was there a skull perched in the background on The Martha Stewart Show yesterday? Inquiring minds want to know! Evidence of the dark arts? A shoutout to her favorite Joshua Jackson vehicle? Or is this just what happens to Martha’s enemies? So I asked a rep for the show, and she told me the spooky, frightening truth behind Omnimedia’s very own memento mori:
The show was a rerun from October, and the skull was pre-Halloween decor. Alas, poor Yorick, that’s the whole story. Sigh.
Rest easy, enemies of Martha Stewart! Your skulls are safe.

Wow. EW is really grasping for content.
And yet you still read it!
I read “Mein Kampf” in high school. Does that make me a Nazi?
Were you also captain of the Men’s Indoor Non Sequitur Team in high school, Mike?
The problem with that logic is that one does not realize how weak the story is until it has already been read. It cannot be un-read at that point, as much as we all may wish otherwisw.
I noticed the skull also!!
I hate it when there is no mystery to a mystery.
OH…like the Lost finale…maybe Martha Stewart is going to wake up her audience and take them through a shiny church door.
I did read the article to see if I was correct and it was a rerun.
Why did I read this article?
We’re all asking ourselved the same question. Why? Maybe we’re naturally curious, or mildly interested in Martha or skulls. But we all feel just a little gypped by this one.
Thank GOD you reported on this.
