Infuriating Bangs: Which hair horrors did we miss?

Peggy-Moss-Mad-MenImage Credit: Michael Yarish/AMCIn the spirit of self-loathing and “write what you know,” this loser blogger who sometimes cuts her own bangs (the horror!) put together today’s photo gallery: The Bad Bang Theory: 20 Infuriating Bangs. Set of bangs? Bang communities? Whatever. Hair in TV and movies that you just want to comb, cover up, rearrange like a delicate sculpture, or pull with all your might so that it would just GROW, dammit! Any bangs whose undeniable awfulness was not officially part of the plot (as in Ugly Betty, starring the Bad Bangs Baroness) but became significant for you, the viewer who should not have to put up with that mess!

Pictured here: Mad Men‘s Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), who has clearly been hypnotized by her greasy, stringy, no good, very bad, deliberately spaced-out (?!) dagger-bangs. Check out the complete collection while touching your own questionably styled hair; then tell us who we missed. I already see a lot of votes for Brennan on the current season of Bones

Evil Venom Peter Parker in Spiderman 3. These greasy black emo bangs ruined the movie.

courteney cox’s awful hair in ‘scream 3′ deserves a second nomination. the fact that she actually let someone do that to her AND THEN STARRED IN A MOVIE is unforgivable. i think we know the real reason ghost face wanted her dead.

    • Blar

Courteney’s hair is made even worse because those bangs aren’t even real! It’s like hair extensions glued to the front of her head, and chopped off. So why would she give herself fake bangs that looked THAT bad?!

  • Janine

the old consulatant on say yes to the dress… those bangs are rediculous

  • EMB

Phoebe on Charmed, not sure which season. Those were super short!

    • the girl

Fourth season. They are terrible. Her bangs are making me not want to watch the reruns that air every morning on TNT.

  • lily

I nominate “Man bangs” Nate on Gossip Girl. Although it´s been a long time since he´s sported that hairstyle, I still remember it with horror. I think it was Season 1, maybe even Season 2

  • Sarah

I have a reverse problem – Sam on Supernatural needs his bangs BACK! That forehead…fix it, hair department!

    • Heather

haha I totally agree, I watched an episode from season 1 and although that made him look really young, the bangs worked for him

    • Laura

I think it’s more the slowly advancing sideburns that are the problem with Sam.

    • Brendy

      Superior tihkning demonstrated above. Thanks!

  • Leslie

Katherine Heigl in the beginning of “Life as we Know It” – Meh movie, horrible bangs! Obvs a clip on!

  • jy

Andie on Dawson’s Creek. Super short bangs. Very offensive.

    • nancy

Hahahaaa! good call! Those were AWFUL!

  • Karate Pants

I’d have to nominate pretty much every woman on “Ace of Cakes”. Rampant too-short baby bangs epidemic in that otherwise charming bakery.

    • lisa

agreed! mary alice is the worst offender.

  • Heather

Phoebe on Charmed had the worst bangs during season 6, I believe, where she had the ridiculously short bangs that did nothing for her. She is gorgeous, but those bangs were horrible!

  • aroddy

Political Corrspondent Kelly O’Donnell on the Today show has the most atrocious bangs ive ever seen. The fact that I have to look at her hideous hair spectacle so early in the morning is a crime in itself. If you need a visual, peggy’s bangs on the top of this article pretty much give you the idea.

  • tracy bluth

Plant’s bangs on Arrested Development. I mean, Egg.

    • Mr. Holloway

      Her?

      • Annie Barrett

        Bell?

      • Mr. Holloway

She’s the bell(e) of the ball!

  • Ames

I nominate myself from the year 1984. I feathered them just enough so you could see the headband underneath.

I’m watching Season 3 of Lost now and I can’t get past the fact that it looks like a continuity error. Like one morning they wake up with bangs. Weird. Anyhoo… they do have scissors, since Claire cuts Charlie’s hair and Kate give Sawyer a haircut when he’s back from being abducted by the other castaways. But the thing is, they included potential real haircuts into the plot… they should’ve done something like that with the bangs. Like they had an island mommy slumber party and they did each other’s bangs because they didn’t have nail polish to do each other’s toenails, or something…

      • Paulitens

Sorry, this was meant for Sarah… whoops!

  • Sarah

Didn’t Claire on “Lost” have bangs at some point? For a while her hair was awful, even before she went all “Rousseau”.

    • Mr. Holloway

Claire most certainly DID HAVE BANGS ON “Lost.”

I believe it was at the start of season 3. My girlfriend made a crack about how she must’ve visited the Island stylist during the offseason…and how she should get her money back.

      • blair

at the beginning of season 3 they gave sun bangs too, everyone visited the stylist between seasons!

      • MCS

HAHA I noticed it too! How they all just suddenly had different haircuts. They were stuck on an island, without even any time lapses to get haircuts!

  • SenorC

Calista Flockhart’s bangs during the last couple seasons of Ally Mcbeal — Billy died and I couldn’t concentrate because her hair kept poking her in the eye while she was crying. So distracting!
And Sarah Michelle Gellar’s during the first season of Buffy.
