Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I is still about 56 hours away, but the franchise’s penultimate film is currently outpacing its boy-wizard predecessors in advanced ticket sales. “The Harry Potter fans rival Twilight fans for loyalty to a saga — and their excitement for this 10-year-old franchise has not diminished,” says Fandango’s Harry Medved, whose company has already sold-out more than 2,000 Deathly Hallows showtimes. “Even though we still have two more days till the film gets released, HP7 has already entered our list of Top 10 Advance Ticket-Sellers.”
It’s difficult to quantify the loyalty of Potter fans, but a good indicator is a recent Fandango poll, which asked customers to vote for the Sexiest British Actress Under 30. Emma Watson — Hermione! — was by far the top choice, garnering more support than Emily Blunt, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller combined! (Bonnie Wright placed sixth.) That result makes more sense when you take into account that Deathly Hallows tickets are currently making up 96 percent of Fandango’s sales.
Do you already have your movie tickets, and are you planning to be in line at the multiplex late Thursday night? Or have you given up hoping to get a seat on Friday and resigned to seeing a Sunday matinee?
