Jeff Probst blogs 'Survivor: Nicaragua': Episode 7

survivorImage Credit: Monty Brinton/CBSSash: “That’s not what I meant to say.”

Ah, I love an unexpected gift… especially a gift at Tribal Council. It’s one of the truths at Tribal Council that sometimes it takes a lot of work to get them to share anything of interest, and other times… they just offer it up to you like a fastball straight over the plate. Whack! And it’s outta here!

More on Sash’s comment later.

MARTY, MARTY, MARTY
With Marty, it’s all about Marty. He’s so certain he’s right that sometimes he almost convinces me that he’s right even when I know he’s wrong. I really enjoy the rivalry between Marty and Jane. At this point it’s fair to say that Marty is losing, but the guy is really fighting to stay in this game and I love someone who plays as hard as Marty is playing.

JANE
I’m really starting to like Jane. She’s a slow burn. She’s been through a lot in life and I think that is part of the reason why she is so headstrong and fearless. Jane just doesn’t care what you think about her and that’s one of the reasons that if I had to choose somebody to be my mate in the foxhole, Jane would be high on the list.

The biggest obstacle standing in the way of Jane winning this game is going to be… Jane. She said it herself — “I want the cake and I want to eat it too.” How often do all of us fall into this trap? We want it all. You can rarely have it all. There are almost always compromises you must make as you make your way through the ultimate reality show – real life. I think Jane could get far in the game but the chances of her self-destructing are very high. Still not sure I’d keep her around though – she is extremely likable and if she does get to the end – write the check.

One of my favorite moments of the season was Jane catching and cooking a fish for herself. That’s a Survivor! Nice work.

SASH
Man, Sash is becoming a force. If I were playing with him, he’d be driving me nuts with his cocky, insincere attitude. But he certainly has one element of this game figured out – loyalty. He knows where to put his energy. Marty could learn a few lessons from Sash. I know Marty is once again screaming at the screen if he’s reading this, but I think it’s true.

CHASE
A lot of people are bagging on Chase because of his inability to make a decision or stick with an alliance, but when Chase starts talking about his dad and their relationship he sucks me right back into liking him. Don’t let him get deep into this game or he could win his way to the end.

REWARD CHALLENGE
Because of the rough water in Nicaragua we couldn’t do a lot of water challenges, so we built a large cement pool. It never ceases to amaze me what our art department can create and execute.

As far as the challenge, I loved this one. It’s fair for everybody, (okay with the exception of Dan) you could play it at home (Okay if you had a swimming pool) and it’s just fun to watch. But the best part of the challenge came once again thanks to Survivor‘s favorite comedy genius… Fabio!

YOU KNEW SOMEBODY WAS GOING TO DO IT
Fabio peeing in the pool was a moment that still makes me laugh when I think about that day and the look on his face as he was doing it. I enjoy Fabio. He’s a charming young man who often speaks before he listens but is so open and shares so many thoughts that he’s endeared himself to me. No Fabio, not everybody pees in the pool.

THE FOOD REWARD
The various emotional and intellectual reactions to the “reward lunch” were so representative of the game of Survivor as well as “real life” human dynamics.

First, you have Alina who cried because she felt joy, or so she said. Had I been there, I would have believed her because I think I’d probably feel something similar.

Then, Holly reacted like a “mom” and offered Alina a hug of comfort and safety. Once again I believe this was a genuine emotion.

And then… Naonka. Naonka reacts by saying she thinks it’s all a bunch of strategic baloney. She didn’t buy it for a second. Which then gets me to thinking… she could be right. It could be a bunch of strategic baloney.

If I had to play this game I would be constantly fascinated, endlessly uncertain and completely exhausted by the non-stop manipulation.

SMARTEST PLAYER IN THIS GAME
It’s not Marty. It’s not Jimmy T. It’s not Sash and sorry Fabio, but it’s not you either. From my vantage point, it’s Brenda. While she doesn’t have all the qualities of a player like Parvati, she’s close. Besides, it’s her first time playing, give her a chance. She reads people very well, she is smart enough to know when to back off and let someone else get the glory and she knows how to flirt without it being too obvious. What she lacks is the real killer instinct. I think she is so used to getting everything she wants in life handed to her that she hasn’t had to work hard enough to really know how to bury somebody. Put her and Parvati together and they’d be lethal. In fact, the two of them should sign up for Amazing Race.

Brenda and Sash are a pretty good team and right now seem tough to beat so long as they don’t turn on each other. Sash is very good at this game as well; what holds Sash back is simply the way he carries himself. He’s a bit shady. Whether he is shady in real life I have no idea, but his demeanor certainly causes me to think twice – even three times. Ever read Blink by Malcom Gladwell? He would tell you to trust your gut and if Sash told me he had a great piece of property for me to buy, I’d instantly question his motives because if it was truly “great,” Sash is the kind of guy who would buy it for himself.

They are a good team because they complement each other and if I had to decide who was truly leading it would be Brenda, but the one who is gaining most from the partnership is Sash.

Perfect example: Once again, Brenda has a great idea – get Marty to give them the idol. She is the one with the brilliant idea but she empowers Sash to be the one to make the deal happen. Great strategy… but no killer instinct to do it herself. Same as the time when she let Naonka find the other hidden immunity idol. Brenda could have two idols right now. If Parvati had been playing, she would have gotten the idol for herself and a kiss from Marty at the same time.

Instead, Sash gets the idol and now has the opportunity to win favor with Marty by keeping his word. It’s a huge move for Sash and a potentially big mistake by Brenda.

Brenda might argue that she is staying “clean” of everything so nobody is mad at her, but if the two of them make it to the final, Sash can play the “strategy card” and the “I kept my word card.” I give this round to Sash.

My favorite line of the entire pitch to Marty:

Sash: I think it makes sense, but I can’t tell you what to do with your own idol.

THAT’S the shady part I’m talking about! If Sash thinks it makes sense… don’t do it!

To Marty’s defense, I think Marty is right – he has to try something and the idol was going to get flushed out one way or the other. Giving it to Sash gives him a lifeline to Sash with the hope that something will happen to change things up.

TRIBAL COUNCIL
“Jane’s a flipper.” Marty has such a double standard. He complains that people aren’t playing the game and he also complains when people do play the game. Jane is playing the game. There is nothing wrong with what she is doing, it makes sense to try and get with the majority. Man, I talk a lot about Marty.

THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT TO SAY
It was the single biggest mistake of the game so far… a simple slip of the tongue. I was questioning Sash on why he was the one who had possession of the idol if indeed it was an idol for the entire “alliance.”

While defending himself, Sash uttered a phrase he would love to have back – “If there comes a time when I lose trust in them.” Ooops. He meant to say “When they lose trust in me.” A Freudian slip?

Freud believed that we reveal what is really on our mind by saying something we didn’t mean to say.

He believed that slips of the tongue provided an insight into the unconscious mind.

So… did Sash just reveal something? Of course he did! Anybody who actually believed that Sash was ever going to share the idol deserves to be voted out. His Freudian slip was only damaging in that everybody heard him actually say what they were already fearing he was thinking.

FOR NEXT WEEK
Sash has the idol.
Marty is in trouble.
Anybody who challenges Sash for the idol may be in trouble too.

But most of all, Sash may be in trouble. He has a weapon in the hidden immunity idol and he just revealed that he will use it if he ever feels he is in danger. In doing so, he just put a big target on his back.

See ya next time.

PS –I honestly, truly just realized that I didn’t say anything about Jill being voted out. That is mind-blowing. I LOVED Jill in casting. I thought Jill could win this game when I first met her. She was a favorite. I wasn’t intending to slight Jill in any way. There just wasn’t anything to say. She played a very quiet game. The numbers were never on her side. The tribe switch didn’t help and her alliance with Marty did her in.

I had written and proof read the blog and was literally attaching it to send to Dalton Ross at EW.com when I realized I had made no comment about the person who was voted out.

I do know this though… I’m so glad it wasn’t Naonka.

Oh, be sure to check out several treats in the video player below, including: an exclusive deleted scene from last night’s episode, Dalton Ross’s pre-game interview with Jill, and the latest edition of EW’s TV Insiders podcast, which includes discussions on everything from Survivor and Dancing With The Stars to Project Runway and more. Plus, don’t miss Dalton’s recap, “Mellow Yellow.”

If Jeff ever read this, I hope he might be able to convince the power to be to stop ruining a big surprise like the merge is next week in tv promos. Let us find out while watching the show!!!

    • Fifth Column

      JOHN MAY LIVES

      • IRENE CLAYTON-WHITLOW

No he doesn’t, he was killed. You should really watch the show.

      • Probst4Ever

That freudian slip at the end was a telling Hantzer. He’s got some issues to Russell with. I can’t believe there was a third idol giveaway. There had to have been some conversation between Marty and Jill that we didn’t see, where Jill says, “You did what with the Idol? The one that I told you about, that idol?” I expect that we’ll see Brenda regretting giving away the idol to Naonka as well, it’s inevitable. I expected bigger moves from Marty this episode, less fatalistic groveling and more persuasive maneuvering. Maybe get Jill to pull in Jane? Or manufacture division somewhere? Something? Son of a Brenda.

      • TheBestPlayerNot2Play

I thought Marty was the only 1 that knew how to play the game. I guess, I was wrong. I gave him a break last week for the bonhead move not to play the idol. He got lucky because he should have been voted out. I could not give him a break this week for the dumbest move on survivor. These people are newbies and have not learned from previous idiotic mistakes. Let me give a lesson on how he should have used the idol this week. If you agree, help me get on this show. That’s the only thing I still can’t figure out. When Sash said play the idol or give it to me, I would have told Sash that sounds like a terrific plan. I will give it to you. However, I want to guarentee that you will live up to your word. It’s fair to say that if I give you now, whose to say you won’t vote me out? So, I will carry the idol to tribal council and I will not use it. Once tribal council is over and I am safe, the idol is all yours. (after tribal is over of course I am going to change my mind and just say that I still don’t feel safe and I have changes my mind). If we have a deal great- its all yours right after tribal. But for some reason if it doesnt go as planned and I get voted out the idol will be going home with me in my pocket. That would be a waste of an Idol. So Sash, If you agree with this paln, shake my hand now. If not tell me now so we can go with the original plan of half the vote for Jill and half fo me and I will use the idol tonight.

We are midway in this season and there are some who I like and dislike.

        Like:
Alina – she is smart, but lacks social skills to prevent her from being a target.
Kelly B – you have to admire despite being HATED by Naonka makes you admire her more.
Chase – Captain America you would love to cast.
Fabio – Dude Where’s My Car? It will be amazing if he joins the amazing race.

        Dislike:
Naonka – never saw a person this evil. Definitely Villain potential. Makes Omarosa looks like Mother Theresa.
Brenda – Parvati 2.0. I agree with you Jeff. She and Parvati would make an interesting power duo in Amazing Race. In case of a Survivor: War of Kings & Queens. Consider her.
Sash – I agree once again that he is shady, but he is good.

    • davey

If you’re a REAL fan of Survivor – you would know that the merge always comes up at 12 people (since they moved to final three). Big surprise? Really?

      • BruceMpls

Actually davey, if you were a REAL fan you would know the merge depends upon other things including how many players they start with and taking into account injuries or someone quitting. Just since 2008 the merge has occurred, for example: at 9 (Gabon), 10 (Heroes and Villains), etc. up to 12.

      • wtf

if you’re gonna be condescending, u could at least have a clue. a REAL fan knows the merge could happen anywhere from about 8 to 12

      • JayMo

We are all REAL fans of Survivor. Most of us know the Merge was coming but the point is please dont show us in the preview. That ruins the “suprise” factor that we all love in Survivor. Let us see it when the show is on, it’s more fun!

      • Jenn

A real fan of the show can tell what tribe wins reward/immunity based on the air play they receive, and the music that plays as the winning team starts to make their final throw. It takes away all the fun of the show. I have about 80% accuracy when it comes to survivor’s editing style. They even give you good clues to who will be voted for based on the sway of the talk before hand. Please change it up and bring back some suspense.

      • Jam

What keeps spoiling Survivor as of late..seems to be the un-evenness of the teams at the beginning – which leads to one group having huge numbers at the merge – and its no fun seeing them get picked off one by one — if you were going to have old vs young – there are plenty alpha males out there over 40 – guys like Terry from Survivor Panama, Rupert etc who could hang with the younger tribe ..you a ps poor job of getting the older tribe members..was like you loaded a bus from the nearest Rest home ..and told them they were off to meet Lawrence Welk..even Johnny Depp is over 40 …if you want a captivating Survivor the tribes have to be so even its too close to call

      • Scottie

Cook Islands: 20 people, merge at 9
Micronesia: 20 people, merge at 10
Samoa: 20 people, merge at 12
HvV: 20 people, merge at 10

        Yah right

      • Zach

But Jeff never said Parvati would win, just that she’s the best player. Which she (arguably) was.

    • Zach

Speaking of ruining the show, I think reading Jeff’s blog each week spoils it enough – like don’t let Chase get to the end? Is that foreshadowing?

      • yeah

yeah its been rough this year because its so obvious, so jeff has to say temper your expectations and you automatically know that person wont make it to the end.

      • Barb

The simple answer to your problem Zach is don’t read Jeff’s blog.

      • Zach

Yeah, Barb, but why would anyone read Jeff’s blog unless they already knew the boot order? And in that case, why follow the show? Jeff’s blog last year was brilliant without giving it all away. We KNEW Russell and Parvati were running the show, so writing about them, just like the camera always focusing on them, wasn’t dropping a hint. It was speaking the obvious. Yet Chase wasn’t even on the radar as far as winning the whole shebang. So Jeff needs to tone it down! Even the Brenda vs. Sash analysis is questionable. We get it that Sash made a good move. But why say Brenda has no killer instinct? Unlike last season, these are ENTIRELY NEW PLAYERS, which means what Jeff is telling us is GIVING IT AWAY. The CBS edit has already been confusing and kind of telling (e.g. the focus on Brenda and Na’Onka from the start suggested they’d be in it for the long haul) — Jeff, don’t spoil any more!

      • Scottie

It’s anti-foreshadowing imo. Chase will get to the end and lose. It’s like all the PARVATI WILL WIN stuff from HvV.

      • Zach

But Jeff never said Parvati would win, just that she’s the best player. Which she (arguably) was.

    • Isotonic

How about not spoiling it in the comments either? I never watch the promo.

      • AB

Then you’re probably in about 1% of viewers who don’t. Its not a spoiler to talk about the promo.

    • Adam

My favorite line in the whole blog:
If Parvati had been playing, she would have gotten the idol for herself and a kiss from Marty at the same time.
      BRILLIANT! HA HA HA!
Parvati Shallow was such a brilliant player that it was ridiculous. And Jeff is right: Brenda is smart, too.

      • Aaron

Brenda is just a puppet. You people are so naive.

      • wino

and thank you Aaron for shedding the light (insert eye roll). who are you, Marty’s wife?

      • Zach

Yeah, Aaron? Who are we to know unless we were one of the cameramen in Nicaragua, or we read the bootlist? Sue us for taking what little we see from the obviously biased CBS broadcast that makes it out like Brenda is the Parvati of the group, having everyone in her back pocket. So who do you think is the puppetmaster? Sash? Na’Onka? Chase? Purple Kelly LOL?

      • TheBestPlayer2NeverPlay

Brenda is not a smart player.

    • TheBestPlayer2NeverPlay

I am the best player to never play! JEFF I HOPE YOU READ THESE COMMENTS IN YOUR BLOG. I was a bit disappointed because I thought that Marty was the only player that knew how to play. I gave him a break last week when he did not play the idol and took a chance. HOWEVER, I CAN NOT GIVE HIM A BREAK THIS WEEK WHEN HE MADE THE DUMBEST MOVE IN SURVIVOR! HE DID NOT FOLLOW RULE #1. RULE #1 STATES THAT YOU NEVER EVER GIVE AN IDOL AWAY, ESPECIALLY TO THE OTHER TEAM! THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS! NOBODY KNOWS HERE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY. WHAT AN IDIOT! HE DESERVED TO GO HOME THIS WEEK. HE LOST MY RESPECT. Sash, I guess is the best player right now, because it was his smart move. I disagree with you Jeff, Brenda is not the smartest player. She basically handed over her hidden idol to annoyOnka. OK LET ME GIVE A LESSON ON HOW MARTY SHOULD HAVE PLAYED THE IDOL. JEFF, MARTY AND ANYONE ELSE INTERESTED PLEASE FOLLOW ALONG! PLEASE LEAVE ME FEEDBACK TO TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! I FIGURED THIS GAME OUT A LONG TIME AGO. THE ONLY THING I CAN’T FIGURE OUT IS HOW TO GET ON THIS DAMN SHOW! I’M MARTY AND SASH APPROACHES ME. HE SAYS WE ARE GOING TO FLUSH THE IDOL OUT TONIGHT. YOU CAN USE IT, OR YOU CAN GIVE IT TO ME AND YOU WILL NOT BE VOTED OUT. I TELL SASH, I AM GOING TO GO WITH YOUR PLAN! I LIKE IT AND I TRUST YOU! HOWEVER, I AM NOT SO SURE THAT I TRUST ALL OF YOUR TRIBE MEMBERS, SO THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING TO DO. I WILL GO TONIGHT TO TRIBAL COUNCIL WITH THE IMMUNITY IDOL. I WILL NOT PLAY THE IDOL. IF I SEE THAT YOU AND YOUR MEMBERS ARE TRUTHFUL AND DO NOT VOTE ME OUT, RIGHT AFTER TRIBAL I WILL GIVE YOU THE IDOL. OTHERWISE IF YOU END UP VOTING ME OFF IT WILL GO HOME WITH ME IN MY POCKET. IF YOU AGREE, GREAT! IF NOT TELL ME NOW AND WE CAN GO WITH THE ORIGINAL PLAN OF SPLITTING THE VOTES AND I WILL USE THE IDOL TONIGHT. IF SASH AGREEES WITH THE PLAN, I WOULD PROBABLY TAKE MY CHANCES AND NOT USE THE IDOL AT TRIBAL. AFTER TRIBAL I CAN TELL HIM THAT I STILL DO NOT FEEL SAFE AND THAT I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND, BECAUSE I NEED TO USE IT NEXT TIME!

    • ted

Agree 100%… this seems to get worse every new Survivor…

    • KC

I’ve stopped watching/ff through the promos because they give too much away.

    • TheBestPlayer2NeverPlay

I THOUGHT I HAD A CHANCE TO GET ON THIS SHOW WHEN THEY HAD THE ONLINE CONTEST. MY VIDEO WAS ONE OF THE BEST. INSTEAD THEY CHOSE JIMMY T’S. HIS VIDEO SUCKED AND I DIDN’T UNDERSTAND WHY HE WON. NOT ONLY DID HE GET ON THE SHOW BUT HE HAD NO CLUE HOW TO PLAY THE GAME. EVERYONE THIS SEASON IS PATHETIC. MAYBE CBS SHOULD HAVE A LEGIT CONTEST WHERE WE CHOOSE WHO GOES ON THE SHOW.

  • Carl

Jane is a perfect example of what’s wrong with this season.. To many people playing a “quiet game”. Luckily, they are the ones getting voted out, so it should be interesting post-merge (and I guess that’s why the merge is early this season). If the trend continues, I guess Purple Kelly will be the first (young) player voted out of the young tribe.

    • Carl

Two typos there.. I meant to say “Jill” (see what I mean?) and of course that should be “too” instead of “to”.

      • MCS

Thanks puppy dog for posting spoilers. That brightened my day.

    • goffy

Marty, dan, holly and Alina and many more before kelly B. she is playing the game like bret did last year. she’s safe for a long while yet.

      • puppy dog

goffy, Kelly B is already gone. She was voted out LAST week.

    • puppy dog

Alina will be gone before Kelly Shinn. She isn’t in the “Brenoinksash” alliance. I must say Marty really disappointed me this time around. He hasn’t been good at the challenges, but has, at least until last night, had some game play. What kind of an idiot gives away an immuntiy idol? These people all act like they’ve never watched Survivor in their lives. I’m still shaking my head. If you are going to get booted, at least go with some backbone, and a show of defiance. Jane, is a sneaky little devil, but I don’t think she’s smart enough go all the way. Sash is just a creep, but he IS playing the game. I’m wondering if he will overplay the game, and it will cost him the mil. I’m guessing “YES”. Too bad Jill is gone, but it was inevitable. As to the promos..why on earth would they stop showing them just to please you? They’ve done it every season, with success, so I imagine they will continue. If I don’t want to know, I don’t watch. Easy solution. Probably next season the players will think the only way to win is to pee in the pool.

    • Here & There

The younger tribemates would be wise to keep Jane to the end. The older tribemates on the jury (if any are left) would not vote for her. The younger tribemates on the jury would also not vote for her.

      • wtf

noone would be wise to take Jane to the end. Like jeff said, if jane is at the end, just write her the check

    • Jenn

If you think about it, the only reason last season was so great was because of the ‘Villians’ tribe. what the producers need to do is find more people like this — and put them on the show. It’s nice to have eye candy and stupid people who do stupid things, but it’s not what makes the show great.

      • Terry

Yeah, but not always. I haven’t watched the show in 3 weeks. It’s the first time I’ve ever missed survivor, but the people are either idiots, boring or just dispicable human beings. I might start watching it again after Naonka gets booted. She was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I don’t watch reality shows to see scummy people(which is why I don’t watch stuff like the jersey shore, that jon and kate show and the kardashians). After listening to Naoma I kinda identify with Chris Rock when he said that he doesn’t condone vioence against women, but he understands it. I don’t know though, I haven’t really missed survivor, I’ve been keeping informed by reading the recaps and blogs and talkbacks(which I would’ve done anyway) and haven’t had to waste an hour with these charisma free people.

  • shelby

I hope Sash is in trouble next week.
Okay, not really expecting a blindside (cast isn’t smart enough) but would like to see someone squirm a while…big time!

    • laini

I would love to see Marty ochestrate a blindside of either Brenda or Sash. They are way too arrogant and they had not one but two chances to get rid of Marty but they blew it. Let them pay for those mistakes.

      • Rhonda

I’m no Marty fan, but that would serve them right for keeping him in the game.

      • bamagal0846

becoming a Marty fan because of Brenda and sash.

      • TheBestPlayer2NeverPlay

I would have also like to have seen Marty do something. However, he lost it for me when he handed over the idol. If you do something that idiotic, you deserve to go home.

    • Kevin D

Marty made a good move by giving the idol to Sash. Either way Marty was going to lose the idol and now he can play it against Sash. If I was Marty I’d be working to convince the others that Sash with the idol is more of a threat than him. Result Sash goes home with no lost to Marty as Sash can’t be trusted as an ally anyway.

      • TheBestPlayerNot2Play

Marty made a good move by giving away the idol? Damn you guys have no clue how to play. Maybe Marty can turn something positive into the dumbest and most idotic move by convincing others that Sash is more of a threat now. I don’t think Marty is smart enough to do that.

      • Caleb Jones

Marty made 2 bad moves, first in telling everyone he had the idol, and 2nd by giving it away. His only benefit is in taking the target off of him, and he could have done that simply by playing the idol. Getting sash off next would be a good way to bounce back though. Like not2play, i don’t think he is smart enough anymore to pull it off.

  • Jenn

I agree with the fact that this season isn’t as good as ones past.

I really wish that CBS would post videos of old seasons so we could watch them again online. I would rather watch Micronesia again than watch new episodes of Nicaragua :P

    • Micronesia Watcher

It’s called YouTube Jenn. There are many videos uploaded from past seasons…

      • Lil Tuts

WTF WAY TO POSSIBLY GET THEM TAKEN DOWN

    • TheBestPlayer2NeverPlay

I agree with posting older seasons.

  • Rhonda

I’ve completely given up on this season’s castaways. They are clueless as to how to play Survivor. Can somebody please tell me why Marty is still in this game?

    • Dave

Because two strategic players who should know better have failed to vote him out – twice – when they had the chance. I can see why Sash didn’t (this time, at least… last week there was no excuse), but I can’t see any good reason why Brenda hasn’t pushed for his ouster.

Still, I’m glad Marty’s still there. He’s one of the only people playing an interesting game even if he does make dumb moves like giving the idol to Sash, and I hope he sticks about for a while longer yet.

      • susela

…and they sent home the person who scored best for them in the challenge! Brenda and Sash think they’re brilliant, but they’re actually pretty clueless.

      • bamagal0846

Marty–you sly fox—keep playing those fools

    • Derek

Exactly. There was no reason for Sash to “keep his word”. They hadn’t merged yet, so they knew Marty wasn’t going to be on the jury. It wouldn’t matter if they lied to his face and voted him out. 2 weeks in a row the brain trust of Sash/Brenda = epic fail when it comes to voting. Now, they let him make it to the merge and possibly form a new counter alliance. Way to go.

      • Rhonda

I completely agree with you. My husband and I just knew that Marty was going home last night. Right before Jeff read the final name we both were screaming, “Marty! Marty!” But when Jeff read Jill’s name, we turned to each other and said, “Those people are idiots!”

    • old john

Marty is still in the game because Jill wasn’t smart enough to vote for him instead of Jane. Voting for Jane was a wasted vote. As soon as she found out Marty no longer had the idol, she should have voted for him. Friend or not.

      • Rhonda

Exactly! In essence, Jill was responsible for her own demise.

      • D

        Brilliant.

      • lenab

I suppose Jill never thought they would still split the votes after Marty gave them the idol. What was that about?

    • wtf

Marty is still in the game for the reason many jackasses go far in the game. If u were in final 2 (or 3) wouldnt u want someone who would get no votes at all? Like Russell Hantz?

      • annabell

agree, Jill was the bigger threat

      • Rhonda

Yes, I would. But I don’t think this batch of castaways is smart enough to think about that. They don’t even have enough sense to get rid of Dan. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marty and Dan are the last two standing.

      • bamagal0846

yes but Brenda and shash are not thinking that far ahead

      • wino

but marty is not a jackass, he’s smug but ultimately not rude or mean to anyone. thus if he ends up in the end, he could talk himself into a million bucks. he’s slick enough, and i think brenda and sash realize this.

      • Kevin D

I’d form an alliance with her and take her with me to the finals. With somebody like her, you’re sure to get the votes.

      • Kevin D

Oops – I was referring to Naonka. The reply was meant to be for the post below.

  • Steph

I seriously hope Chase doesn’t win, he’s more bland than oatmeal. He seems like a great guy but I see him feeling prey to Brenda and/or Sash in the merge. I don’t want to see him in the end- nor Brenda, Sash, Invisible-Girl, Marty, NaOnka, Benry, or…Jane. Yes, Jane. I think she’s getting a great edit- too great. She just seems, mean. I dunno.
That said, I still like Fabio! I’m glad we heard him talk strategy but I’m disappointed he went along with Brenda and co. I suppose he had no choice, but I was under the impression he was more of a free agent out there- I hope his “goofy/naive” routine is just that, a routine. Sure some of that is genuinely him but I hope he understands things, and maybe has a problem saying it. I dunno, I just hope he’s not easily swayed by those people or else I have no one to root for. It’s a good season but I’m finding it hard to find someone to cheer on.

    • Cyberkim

I agree with you, however, I noticed that Nay makes most of her nasty comments on the side and only to the camera and with the exception of the KB hate talk, she is very compliant and agreeable with her tribe.

    • JohnDoe

I also really like Fabio, and I think he’s much smarter than he lets on in the show. He knows what’s good for himself.

    • joy

YOUR COMMENT ARE STUPID!MARTY WILL GONNA BE VOTRD NEXT!THEY JUST WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME

  • Big Daddy

Jeff has mentioned before that Naonka is a true villain. No, she doesn’t have the brains for that. She is just a playground bully.

    • shelly

      yupp

    • ohyeah

You are so right. I can’t stand her. She’s cruel-hearted and has no “game” of her own but likes to think she does. I sincerely hope she leaves SOON.

    • Snsetblaze

      Agreed exactly.

    • wtf

I married a girl like Naonka, its called Borderline Personality Disorder.

      • annabell

        I am so sorry

      • Navigator

My deepest condolences wtf…..hopefully, you’re free now.

  • Luther

Did I miss something? Why is Jeff so glad Noanka wasn’t voted out? Is he alluding to something in the future??

    • Karma

I truly despise NaOnka, but let’s face it….she is the spice of this season’s Survivor. I just hope and pray that she ends up on the jury and not anywhere near the finals.

    • JR

Maybe in two weeks they pull a lord of the flies and sacrifice Na, and Jeff is excited for a Survivor first.

  • MCS

Marty is just so arrogant. I cannot wait til he is eliminated. It will be so sweet. And Sash is so smug it will come back to bite him.

  • Christina

I must be a real survivor fan, because I am watching this season, but I am still waiting for it to get going!!

  • bob

I think “somebody” has a crush on Parvati. Hmmmm…

    • Kiwi

Jeff……………..please stop with the Parvati cheerleading!! She played twice and she’s gone! Get over it. She wasn’t THAT good.

      • MCS

She won once, came second once, and if memory serves she got past the merge the first time she played. Pretty sure that at least puts her in the top 5 survivors ever, so yeah…she was THAT good.

      • Soap On A Rope

Parvati is one of Survivors franchise players along with Russell and Boston Rob. It’s kind of like when a famous name movie star is used to draw people to watch the new movie. But Parvati was an exceptional player.

      • Jeff S

Actually she played 3 times, and she *was* that good. She won the game! How can you say she’s not good? She also should have won last season, but Candace and Amanda were jealous of her skills and voted for useless Sandra instead.

      • lori

Parvati was the best player ever, the survivor gold standard

      • Alpha male

Parvati Rules! She holds the record for the most days on Survivor. 1 win, 1 final 3 and 1 jury. Brenda is good but she’s Parvati-light.

      • bh

Hey Jeff, stop posting under different names. We get it – you love Parvati.

      • lemoliver

        PARVATI’S THE BEST EVER!

    • betsy

So I guess flirting with everybody makes you a great player? That’s all she ever did – smile and wink. I found her very obnoxious. Sorry Jeff.

      • Lil Tuts

LOL at how stupid you can be. Yes, that’s all she did. She never formed any alliances without flirting, especially with other women! Oh, wait… BLACK WIDOW BRIGADE? The alliance that then went on to pwn everyone in Micronesia up and down. What about the double idol move in HvV? Srsly, Betsy, you are a retard.

Btw, flirting with everyone DOES make you a good player. It is a social game ;)

      • KarlHall

Oooh double idol move and Black Widow Brigade. Thinking about that still sends shudders up my spine.

Giving one to Jerri and one to Sandra, for their trust back.
And in Micronesia, whacking the guys off with Cirie and Amanda…

        *shudders*

  • Country girl

Jane has been one of my fav’s from the start and last night she made me proud. Fabio, I can’t help it I like the kid, and I still don’t think he is as dumb as he pretends.
Ben I really like also, Chase is a whiner. The rest of them, vote em out.. I really DISLIKED him, but Russell would have a field day with this bunch of survivors, he could suck them in and crap them out and they’d never know it. I still love the show and the game, but I’ll have to admit this season, it is 2 of the worst teams so far, they just seem to lay back and ask someone to take care of them or tell them what to do. GET UP OFF YOUR BUFFALO BUTTS PEOPLE.. and start playing the game.

  • Lisa

I’m hoping for a Fabio – Jane finale! He’s goofy (no, not everyone pees in the pool! haha) and she was pretty darn funny when she caught, cooked and ate that fish by herself last night!

  • Beru

First season ever I haven’t chosen a fave to win, because I don’t like any of them much, and seriously dislike too many of those remaining to care who gets the title. Jeff, I cannot believe that you like all the mean girls/women so much!

    • bamagal0846

maybe Jeff can take no naka home with him for awhile when this season is over

  • Chris

Ok…I am confused and I don’t get why Jeff didn’t say anything about it. I thought the plan was to get Marty to hand over the idol and then vote him out. Why did they vote Jill out, and didn’t Sash say that he would give Marty back the idol if he seemed like he was going to be in trouble next time?

2 weeks in a row that I don’t understand why they voted the way they voted…2 weeks in a row they could have gotten rid of Marty but they didn’t??

    • Carys

Chris, I agree that we weren’t shown why Marty wasn’t voted out. That’s the fault of the editing—too bad, as it would certainly add to the interest of the game.

    • lori

I’m confused too. What would Sash’s motive be to “borrow” the idol (when he didn’t need it for his own protection) and then give it back to Marty? Just to see if Marty would do it? It only makes sense if Sash wanted the idol so he could actually use it, keep it for himself or his alliance, but then why GIVE IT BACK? and why didn’t Marty ask that simple question, what’s the point of trading it back and forth? Marty’s toast.

      • AB

Obviously Sash has no intention of giving it back!

    • Alpha male

Two very puzzling decisions this episode.
      1. Why did Marty give the idol to Sash? I’d rather play the idol and have it removed from the game than give it to an enemy.
      2. Once they had the idol why split the vote. Unlike others I don’t think it really matters if they voted out Jill or Marty because by eliminating one you cripple the other but why not vote unanimously?
BTW, with the merge coming next week it was a brilliant move to get rid of Kelly B. A Benry, Alina, Fabio, Kelly B alliance would’ve been formidable.

      • lila

desperate act i guess made marty make a stupid move but like he said, who knows? I couldn’t figure out the split vote either and even more confusing is what Marthy thought Sash was going to do with idol if he was only going to hold on to it and then give it back, wtf?

      • TheBestPlayer2NeverPlay

I agree with you. By giving away the idol to the enemy was the dumbest move on survivor history! He deserved to go home. There was no point for them to split votes, unless either they were going with original plan to split the votes or just sending Marty a message.
