Carefully skirting details of ex-husband Charlie Sheen’s apparent alcohol-fueled tirade at New York’s Plaza Hotel, actress Denise Richards briefly spoke about the incident this morning on the Today show. Richards said that her two young daughters — who were staying with her across the hall from Sheen’s hotel room — are still unaware of Sheen’s alleged tirade and hospitalization. She’d like to keep it that way — and probably can, since they’re not old enough to simply hop on the Internet.
“My concern is to keep them protected,” she said. “Thank God they’re five and six.” Sheen, Richards, and kids originally flew out together to New York for some fun on the town, catching Mary Poppins on Broadway and visiting FAO Schwartz toy store.
Richards was originally slated to appear on Today to promote her five episode stint on Spike TV’s Blue Mountain State, but she didn’t appear too bothered about the interview’s shifted subject matter — when asked if she’ll try to disconnect from him, she quickly answered, “Charlie will always be a part of my life. We are binded together forever. It was unfortunate what happened.”

From the rumors flying around, it seems like Charlie Sheen was the one who took the “high ride.”

This is a surprise. Normally, she’s gung-ho to start trashing him and talk about his problems. Maybe she’s figured out that it just makes her look like a vindictive b*tch.
You are totally wrong. Denise and Charlie stopped fighting long ago and became a united front for the sake of their girls.
As I recall, right after he married Brooke, Denise said that he refuse to let the girls bring the necklaces they bought them to her house. She also said some other things that I can’t remember off the top of my head right now. If she was so intent on keeping a united front, she’d have kept her mouth shut about something so petty and childrens’ jewelry.
Didn’t she also have a fit not too long ago because he had a special song (Drops of Jupiter, I believe) with one of his girls) and not the other one?

leah C, i think you might actually be confusing denise with brooke in some of these instances…regardless, he’s obviously a troubled guy so chances are the women who marry and procreate with him are going to be a bit off too, sad for the kids

Denise is a class act. Denise and Charlie have two daughters together and for their sake Denise is taking the high road. Someday when the girls are older they will be able to form their own opinion about their father. Plain and simple, money, fame does not guarantee happiness.
I agree. After reading the court documents on what Charlie did to her when they were married, I was shocked at her professionalism — all she did was file for divorce (at 6 months pregnant!). Not a bad word uttered by her.
Denise probably ordered the booze that night knowing what it would lead up too. She set him up and now she is getting all the attention. I dont trust that bitch for a second.

There is a special place in Heaven for this woman. Charlie should worship the ground on which she walks. She had a chance to throw him under not just the bus but the entire fleet and she stood fast. After all she has been through she exhibits remarkable poise and character.

If you really cared Denise you would not take the highroad. I think you are actually enjoying his failures.If it was the father of my babies I would do everything in my control to make sure he gets the best help he can get. He is obviosly sick and you know it. Denise is not a class act!

Also, it’s not Denise’s responsibility, nor is it within her power, to sober Charlie up. The only person that can fix Charlie is Charlie. His family and friends have been trying for years to get him to clean up his act.

Well considering how many posts there has been about Glee today, I’m surprised the headline did not say: Denise Richards talks about Charlie Sheen and Glee’s rendition of Rocky Horror Show. Hmm..maybe Charlie Sheen has an allergic reaction to too much Glee exposure.
