Kevin Sorbo comeback continues in 'The Santa Suit'

THE-SANTA-SUITImage Credit: Ben Mark Holzberg/Crown MediaWith a series in development at Syfy, Kevin Sorbo’s hot streak continues with … the Hallmark Channel original The Santa Suit premiering Dec. 2. As you can tell from the photo, he play a sexy businessman, Hunter Toys CEO Drake Hunter, who’s kind of a douche. As the synopsis explains, “Hunter has come up with a deliciously deceitful marketing plan this Christmas. He has dispatched mall Santas throughout the city to whisper into the ears of boys and girls, ‘It isn’t a great toy, unless it’s from Hunter’s!’ There’s only one problem: Santa is watching, and he isn’t amused. In an instant, Santa Claus transforms Drake into his own image — full, round face and belly, long, flowing beard. Now Drake has a problem: He’s mistaken for a vagrant ‘Kriss’ and forced into a homeless shelter. With no family or friends to miss him, Drake/Kriss strikes up a relationship with Nancy (Jodie Dowdall, Termination Point), a social worker, and must take a job as a mall Santa himself to maintain his living arrangement at the shelter. Drake also befriends Gemma (Briana D’Aguanno, Flashpoint), a young girl from an impoverished family who has become a latchkey kid because her mother has to make ends meet by pulling double shifts at … Hunter Toys.”

I think we all know how this story ends. Fingers crossed Sorbo ends up a changed man in love with a single mother just like SPOILER ALERT! Eric McCormack did in the 1997 holiday TV movie Borrowed Hearts costarring Roma Downey.* But did you know that in Sorbo’s recent feature What If…, he played a businessman whose guardian angel (John Ratzenberger) gave him a look at what his life would’ve been like had he become a preacher and married Kristy Swanson as planned?**

* I hate that I know that.

** That, too.

    Since when is starring in a made for TV Santa movie a sign of a “hot streak”? I thought that was one of the key indicators of a career that was all but over.

      no no nooooo my friend..! being in a Christmas movie/tv episode is almost a guarantee of posterity..look at soon to be forgotten actors that have made these things and are regurgitated for all time every Christmas on tv…? Tim Allen…Dudley Moore (Santa Claus)…Jack Palance (Scrooge)…Bill Murray (Scrooged) Chevy Chase (National Lampoon Christmas Vacation)

    Can’t help it, I care. I’ve been a fan since Hercules. A fine fine looking man.

    I loved Borrowed Hearts! They play that thing every Christmas season.

    This looks cute, maybe I’ll rent it. Though it sounds like he goes for the social worker chick, not the latch key kid’s mom. But I see a promotion in her future.

    I admit it, I’m a sap for Hallmark Channel movies, and Christmas movies, so Hallmark Channel Christmas movies pretty much are guaranteed to be watched at my house. Looking forward to this one!

    it is a cute movie – i always enjoy seeing kevin sorbo. just wished they could’ve sprung for more realistic snow instead of the obvious sheets of cotton batting that aren’t very well done. makes the film look very low budget. he does wind up the with social worker, btw

    I do accept as true with all of the concepts you’ve offered on your post. They’re very convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are too brief for novices. May you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
