The gloves were off for Rush Limbaugh’s guest-star duty as himself on last night’s Family Guy. Gearing up to meet his arch-nemesis at a local book signing, liberal canine Brian called the right-wing pundit a Nazi and a fascist who “singlehandedly set political discourse back 100 years.” Throughout the episode, Rush didn’t hesitate to take his share of punches — including a particularly ego-free joke about man-boobs. But he threw plenty, too, ribbing bleeding-heart liberal values, poking fun at Lois’ belief in global warming (saying it makes her sound “like a Jew”), and going to town on the left-leaning haters who denounce him without listening to his arguments. They even let him convert liberal Brian. After Limbaugh rescued him from a back-alley beatdown, the four-legged Griffin agreed to read one of Rush’s books — and he actually liked it. A lot. Before long, the two were teamed up for an all-out musical number, “Republican Town,” as well as a jaunt to a church devoted to Ronald Reagan to burn two abortion patients at the stake. Check out the clip below for a peek at the episode and a few words from Limbaugh himself.
The show definitely skewered Brian’s hardcore conservative conversion, but overall it seemed like a pretty fair fight to me. I’ll let you guys decide: Who had the better jokes in the episode, liberals or conservatives? And did Limbaugh’s self-deprecating humor change your opinion of him?

Two shows in for this season an it is safe to say I’m done with Family Guy.
This….
BYE
“Worst Episode Ever”…LOL are you fat single and have a pony tail….you might as well u loser!
I didn’t watch the episode but doesn’t it seem that Family Guy is the kind of show that Limbaugh would be ranting and raving against on his radio show? I guess that Oxycontin doesn’t pay for itself…
Limbaugh has admitted a lot of what he does is performance. Anyone who actually believed in hardcore conservative and religious values so vehemently would NEVER appear on a show like Family Guy. Only in America can people get rich by using vitriolic rhetoric that they don’t even actually believe in to sway the ignorant masses and get boffo ratings on TV and radio.
Wow, lighten up a bit. Limbaugh admits what he does is performance, but that does not mean he does not believe it himself. The message is real, the delivery is performance, and that is probably true of any successful radio talk show.
@DL. It’s bombastic to call someone who has the audacity to disagree with YOU the “ignorant masses.” I’d put my IQ up against yours. Any time. Any place.
@fluffy. I’m gonna point out that having a high IQ has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Even some of the smartest people have the common sense of a five year old
@fluffy yeah, the ONLY thing that high IQ predicts is academic success, not real job success, and in fact until recently it was essentially only accurate for affluent white males in america. It certainly doesn’t predict any sort of “rightness.” The fact that you blindly throw out IQ as some sort of argument, is really a not-so-subtle straw man fallacy, which shows you lack the intelligence you so mindlessly hide behind.
Rush Limbaugh may well get boffo ratings, but that doesn’t change the fact the intellectual quality of his ideas and arguments are not very high, and historically have been (and still are) riddled with factual errors and distortions. He’s not a thinker, he’s an agitator.
Agree whole heartly, The Colbert report is another show that people take very seriously when all he does is pock fun at politicans. Even Congress took him for real and asked him to testify before them. We all saw how that turned out
liberal here. I was impressed with Limbaugh’s self-deprecation. He is an entertainer and he knows it. I hope this means he is getting a thicker skin, meaning hopefully he will start engaging people he disagrees with rather than slinging rocks from his echo chamber.
only dumb minorities discount the relevance of a high IQ
rush makes over 40 million dollars a year
He also gives his show away free to radio stations putting him on more radio stations.
Plus, since when did quantity = quality, anyway?
III, yes, he gives away the show, but he charges for the commercials. That’s a standard commercial radio deal. The stations only get to charge for the commercials that they put on, half as many as they would if they produced the show themselves. So, self-produce, get all the revenue, and pay the people, or take the free show that may have higher ratings and charge more for half as many commercials? Tough call.
So does 50 Cent. What’s your point?
They’re both hateful morons.
To the people who say “I cant believe Rush would go on family guy.” Perhaps you don’t know all that much about Rush Limbaugh, besides what his opponents say.
It’s funny that they had Bryan read Rush’s book, because whenever some caller lies to the screener to get on air and rant at Rush (if the guy doesn’t cuss too much to have to be bleeped) Rush will reason with him and ask if the person ever read his book or listened to his show for more than 5 minutes. Usually the irate callers have no factual basis for their hatred of Rush besides what they heard from others. Listening to him can be a caustic experience while you get used to his annoying laugh, but he often brings up points that can’t be chalked off to rhetoric or lies.
This show has been garbage since the last season.
This show has been garbage from it’s inception.
Then why are you watching it if you hate it much more commenting on it….doesn’t make sense!!!
HaHa!! They’ve probably never watched the show or just don’t get it. Family Guy is not made for the PC world some people live in.
Any show with a recurring geriatric pedophile character isn’t funny, it’s sick.
Say that again Jeff and I’ll slap you right in the penis
@Herbert,
LMAO, I went into a coughing fit I laughed so hard.
now THAT’s not fair, seasons 1-3 where HIlarious. Downhill fast after that though
This is true.
this episode wasn’t that funny. it seemed they were just making fun of the right wing most of the time, but they were also making fun of the left. full on political Family Guy episodes aren’t funny!!
just wasn’t funny. I laughed more at the first minute of American Dad than I did in the whole episode of Family guy.
American Dad is so underrated.
American Dad is retarded.
Good for you Brian, good for you
If nothing else, it showed that a sense of humor goes a long way in allowing civil discourse.
Mega kudos and dittos to Rush and to Seth.
Amen. It’s about time.
I agree with Joe and nunnya. Both sides of the political scene have needed to get a bit of a sense of humor for a long time. And, I’d like to point out (as a pretty regular fan of “Family Guy”) that this wasn’t Limbaugh’s first appearance on the show. He did a part during one of the “Star Wars” episodes as himself, too.
family Guy is great, blue collar joe six pack America. it is nice to see some balance, they make fun of everyone. Clinton’s, Bush,Gore and this list goes on. We as Americans need to get over ourselves. this is humor, the people who get their news from John Stewart and watch family guy taking political advice from a talking dog– well they’re more like the simspsons, not someone worth listening to to begin with.
I’m not a fan of the show, but I’d probably watch this episode. Looks like Rush does a great job.
I really don’t like Rush but he does a great job in this episode. I found it funny and I am pretty much the eact type of political thinker Rush skewers on his show. But he was a good sport last night and was rather self deprecating.
I think you meant “peek at the episode,” not a “peak.”
I enjoyed the show. Both side got to throw their darts and Limbaugh showed good humor and delivery. My favorite line was “just giving a woman credit for anything makes you a liberal.”
It just wasn’t funny. It seemed like they were pandering to Rush a little. Even the ‘racy’ jokes seemed forced and uninspired. I really hope they can turn things around and avoid the fate of The Simpsons which has become completely unwatchable.
Ditto.
Rush was there because he thought it was an episode of “Fat Guy”
Go Fairys child Stewie!! Tee-hee!!
ok, it wasn’t the best episode – but you have to admit you laughed when Stan Smith appeared!
only occassionally funny…this show is way past its expiration date…first episode i have seen in about 2 years
Brian is a running sore, running from himself and society…yet his scab will heal us all.
