Image Credit: Vivian Zink/ABC; Bill Matlock/FoxLast night’s premiere of the dreary My Generation brought in just 5.2 million viewers (less than half what FlashForward pulled in in the same slot last year), but it still topped Monday’s tepid premiere of the vastly superior Lone Star, which snagged just 4.1 million viewers. And yet the emotionally bankrupt $#*! My Dad Says raked in 12.4 million people. I live in a nation of strangers.
Some returning vets didn’t fare so well, either: The non-celebrity Apprentice had its lowest ratings ever. So bust out your crystal ball, PopWatchers: What show is going to get the ax first this season? Might the networks be just a little bit patient this year, and give even low-rated shows a chance to flourish? Ha, ha, ha, ha, no, they won’t. But should they?

Fall 2010 ratings: ‘Big Bang Theory’ blasts off in new timeslot, ‘The Apprentice’ sinks to a new low

My trifecta is Outsourced, Bleep My Dad Says and Lonestar.
Unfortunately, that dreck known as Bleep My Dad Says kept a whole bunch of The Big Bang Theory’s audience. The Shat will be around on CBS for a while. Kill me now. Maybe NBC should move Community to 8:30 so it can go up against that garbage.
The Event
u cutee:)dear , could u free sign’ up’ and hit me up on Age’Less’Kiss .com please ? the largest and best place for young people ‘flirts, hope u will add. me ,thanks honey !

Lonestar, Chase, and My Generation.
Bleep My Dad Says didn’t hold me after BBT–I went off to do housework until 9:00.
If we’re not gonna say the “S Word”, can we at least reference a good show and call it “Senator-Clay-Davis My Dad Says”?
Awesome reference, CMS.
MADE MY NIGHT! Just make sure you drag that out all “eeeeeeeee” like
I say they make that into a real show. I’ve always thought his character would make the best spin-off out of all of the Wire characters.
More like Speaker Pelosi my dad says.
Love that comment! I miss the Wire oh so much!
Lonestar and it’s too bad because it got great reviews.
I am hoping that LoneStar gets better ratings next week. It went up against The Event which I haven’t seen, but I feel it got a lot more publicity- plus any of the other shows that already have followers
Lone Star. Not because I think its bad, in fact, I didn’t watch it… but I also have absolutely ZERO interest in even finding out if its good or not
I have no interest in it either.
I wouldn’t have cared, but Tivo had it available for a free preview before any new shows premiered. So, while bored with nothing to watch, I downloaded and watched it. Turns out it’s excellent, and it wasn’t just because I had nothing else to watch. It was really good.
That’s how I feel about it too.
Agreed.
Completely agreed. Maybe this is an example of getting somebody with at least a few interesting credits to head up the show. Otherwise, who cares?
how about Jon Voight? And demanding names is stupid.. LONE STAR is a fantastic show – with terrible ratings
Huh? You care about a name more than any kind of plot or talent?
the problem with names is shown by what happened this week-Over 12 million people watch William Shatner in Bleep… and only 4 million watched Lonestar.I know some of the situation with Bleep is the fact that it was on right after BBT, but I am sure there are still some followers because of Shatner and possibly the book… but it still had horrible reviews and LoneStar had great reviews. Unfortunately there are too many brainless Americans out there that are the reason there are so many dreadful reality shows out there while quality scripted shows struggle and get cut because it’s much cheaper (and a heck of a lot less creativity) to run a reality show
@ Heather- Part of the reason Lone Star got low ratings is because there are too good shows on Monday night. You can’t force people to watch a show based on good reviews.
You also managed to insult an entire country by saying brainless
Americans. If a foreigner said that, he/she would be ripped to shreds on this message board. Quite a double standard.
Lone Star was OK.. it is almost clever.. but too predictable in my mind.
My surpise of the week was CBS The Defenders.. less raunch than advertised and more interesting court room than expected.
Was interested in Jimmy Smits Outlaw until I saw they were going HARD CORE PROPGANDA on things like Arizona. Possible to be critical without getting the acts so wrong.
Move to Iran. You’ll like the morals there.
Agreed. The premise did not appeal to me.
Oops I meant to respond to Jay above.
Lone Star — what’s it about/
Exactly. Absolutely no desire to watch a show about a guy lying to 2 women and ripping people off. Why would anyone root for him?
I thought the same, but decided to give it a try anyway. Turns out I did end up somewhat sympathetic towards his character. He’s got the whole charismatic-scam-artist-dad-who-doesn’t-want-to-stop-controlling-his-son thing going on, and he is trying to break free of that. I’m going to hang in there a while longer.
You don’t remember “Dallas,” Will? Wildly popular CBS show in the late 70′s and 80′s, with guys lying to everybody and people trying to rip each other off?
Silliest comment EVER.
Im hoping for outsourced so I can get my Parks and rec sooner!
Amen!
Agreed.
they are starting mid-season due to amy poehlers pregnancy!
No, they were pushed back to January for no reason anyone understands. Poehler has said herself it had nothing to do with the timing of her pregnancy and she doesn’t know why Parks & Rec got shelved. BOO HISS TO NBC!
“Bleep” My Father Says….it’s just not funny. It may have been a good read, but as a sitcom, well, it seems contrived and forced. Didn’t much care for it.
I thought it was hilarious! We can’t all like the same thing. My Generation was ok, don’t care one way or another. I liked The Whole Truth and Undercovers as new shows.
I’m right there with you, it could have been funnier and may evolve with time but I kinda liked it. I felt the same way about Mike & Molly, great potential if they would dump the sister and tone down the mom.
Oh, god. I couldn’t take 30 seconds of either $#*! or Mike & Molly. I guess they appeal to the same people who are keeping Two and a Half Men alive? (I almost called it My Two Dads, which shows how much I pay attention to that show.)
I’d say Lonstar and The Whole Truth. Both had terrible ratings and it’s a shame cause Lonestar was actually really good but I’m not going to get attached to a show that wont be around much longer.
Whatever the first show is, it will probably be decent quality. Meanwhile the puerile garbage will have tons of viewers.
Bleep My Dad Says and My Generation.
For now I’m going to say either Hellcats or The Defenders.
Hellcats is actually pretty good… Trust me, it was NOT something I thought I would like.
I will second Hellcats being a decent show. I don’t see it getting canceled mid-season.
Both shows are actually pretty good but the Defenders will have to work hard to sell itself as Americans seem to prefer shows about prosecuters more than defenders. We want to see the guilty get punished a lot more than seeing the innocent get off scott-free.
Lonestar, Outsourced, Bleep My Dad Says, And The Event it opened big but I see a huge drop i was horrible.
agree with the addition of the defenders
outlaws. followed closely by anything starring jerry o’connell.
The event has been very uneventful so far.
The only new shows I’ve seen are Outsourced and Better with You. Outsourced wasn’t great but shows promise and has a likable cast. Better with You was 30 minutes of sheer laugh-tracked torture… I hope it goes away quickly.
Agree about Better With You. It’s a disgrace to put that next to Modern Family and Cougar Town. Or even The Middle, for that matter, because at least that show doesn’t have a laugh track.
Absolutely! I gave it a chance and could only hang on for 10 minutes, the laugh track was the worst.
Yeah it was also very predictable. Seemed like an okay show but the laugh track was annoying and was its predictability- the jokes were all jokes ive seen hundreds of times
Better than You was played at the Lillith Fair during a break. It was definitely horrible.
Dfinintely.. OUTSOURCED…just not funny
I think people here are confusing quality with ratings. You may not like a show but if people watch it, it’s staying on. That being said, Lone Star will go first. My Generation did poorly but it doesn’t have a lead in, so I think ABC will be more patient with it. Better With You could be in trouble if it dips too much from The Middle. I don’t see something like Outsourced lasting but I think it’ll make it a few weeks, giving something else time to go before it.
Exactly. Which is why LoneStar is dead and Sh** My Dad Says will last the season at least.
Lonestar, My Generation. Bleep Dad Says, The Whole Truth, Outsourced, everything that has been mentioned above.
I’m betting it’s going to be Lone Star.
