There’s a new Twitter in town, rolling out to users over the next few weeks, and it’s pretty! Very pretty. This video is cute and all, but if you just want to see what the new features look like, skip ahead to about 1:06:
The big change is that there’s now more of a two-pane layout, with your regular feed on the left and a “details pane” on the right, where you can watch tweeted videos, look at photos, or see someone’s full timeline. Between this and the infinite scroll, it looks like Twitter wants you to stay on their site as long as possible, without every having to click away. Sticky!
All the new features look great, and integrated YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo, TwitPic, et al is definitely a good call. (There’s a full rundown on the “#newTwitter” here.) But what the redesign doesn’t address is my biggest beef with my beloved microblogging service: up time. I still get that cursed Fail Whale a few times a week.
