Michael Douglas stopped by David Letterman’s show last night, just three weeks after he learned that he had Stage-4 throat cancer. Looking healthy, the star of this month’s Wall Street sequel explained his diagnosis and prospects for recovery — about 80 percent. Letterman apologized for focusing so heavily on his guest’s vibrant appearance, “You look great and you don’t sound like you have throat cancer. Why is that?”
“Because I’m on stage,” replied the Oscar-winner, recognizing who and what he is.
Here’s to a speedy recovery and only good news for Douglas and his family.

Best of luck to you Michael. I’ve always enjoyed your films and think you’re an outstanding person. I’m sending good thoughts your way and hoping for a speedy recovery.
MICHAEL DOUGLAS -YOU ARE A INSPIRATION OTHERS.

Hey guys, will you visit SaveStan . ORG a friend of mine with 4 young children is fighting for his life.
All my prayers to you Mr Douglas!
Wish you well Michael. I had the same thing. Made it through it. Just be aware of the dry mouth syndrome you’ll experience from the radiation. Hard to swallow foods.
notices Mr Douglas has a water bottle beside him and his first treatment already; I’m sure he’ll get the best possible care available to him-wishing you and him both well and a full recovery
my husband had throat cancer squamoucel he gotwell thru treatment lost a lot of weight he is ok now & that was 5 years ago
Here’s yet another example of the dangers of smoking. Hopefully Mr. Douglas will explain how his history of tobacco use lead him down this road.
I’ve known two people with throat cancer who never smoked. You shouldn’t assume that everyone who gets sick did something wrong.
I believe he said in the interview that it was the drinking, not the smoking, that leads to this kind of cancer (he did both).
He already did. If you actually watch the interview he admits that his past smoking and drinking is likely what caused it.
god bless
Mr. Douglas- I have survived the same treatments. I had no one to confer with besides doctors, so I would be happy to talk with you if and when you have concerns. It’s not easy, but you can do it.
ADVICE; Who has a same kind of cancer. If not able to swallow try squash soup and for the constipation is the Dr. Schuelze’s intestinal Formula #1 organic and Wild Harvested. My thoughts, pray with you who interested and read it.
Life is soooo precious!!
God Bless all who want Good
Mr. Douglas all the best to you and to the rest of you who have had to put up with cancer

MICHAEL,
2009 WAS MY YEAR OF DISCONYENT WITH STAGE-3 CANCER OF TONSIL
AND LYMPH NODES.I HADE RADICAL SURGERY IN ADDITION TO RADIATION
AND CHEMO.I’M GOOD NOW! ALL CLEAR.
DRY MOUTH IS AN AFTER EFFECT BUT
IT WONT BE NEARLY AS BAD AS WHAT
YOU ARE ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE.
MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU!
A lot of Americans have throat cancer. Why we should all drop everything we are doing because Michael Douglas of all people has it is beyond me. Barbra Streisand and Rod Stewart had throat cancer and survived, they just didn’t milk it.
I don’t think he’s milking it. He also has a movie to promote which is why he was scheduled to be on the show in the first place. Just wish the man well and move on.
@JoAnn – I’ve never heard of Barbra Streisand having any cancer. Rod Stewart had thyroid cancer and has talked about it often. He’s even become a spokesman for the City of Hope Foundation, that is working for cures for all cancers.
Michael Douglas was booked on Letterman’s show before he was diagnosed. He was booked to promote his movie. But since it was just announced that he had cancer, Letterman wanted to talk about it. Douglas looked a bit uncomfortable, but was open about his condition. He wasn’t “milking” it, nor did he ask you to “drop everything” that you are doing because he has cancer.
It doesn’t matter that he is “Michael Douglas of all people.” He is a human being, who 3 weeks ago was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Have some compassion.
@ Dianne and Maggie… I couldn’t agree more!
We should pay attention because, being famous, he can bring attention to this type of cancer, and maybe stop other people from smoking and excessive drinking that causes this and other cancers.
There are many people smoking and drink LOOK IN GERMANY EVERY BODY EVEN KIDS! but in USA who had no TOBACO hystory and drink alchohol had throut cancer in age 25. IS there something wrong, where most cancer poped up?
Sorry admin – my post is test
I’ve enjoyed your father and now your movies are great too. All the best to you during your cancer treatment.
sorry to hear. good vibes.
