Image Credit: Scott Boehm/Getty Images; Fabrice Coffrini/Getty Images Football star Troy Polamalu is known for his mane of thick, curly, dark hair, and he’s been a spokesperson for Head & Shoulders shampoo for the last two years.
So naturally, it would behoove Procter & Gamble, the makers of Head & Shoulders, to insure their pitchman’s iconic locks, which they announced they did today for $1 million with Lloyd’s of London. Polamalu is following in the footsteps of some pretty famous body parts — over the years, Lloyd’s has proudly insured Ugly Betty‘s America Ferrera’s smile, Keith Richards’ fingers, and Marlene Dietrich’s legs. I’m always kind of tickled when I read about said policies — remember the rumors about J. Lo’s booty? — but I guess when you’re talking about stars whose income relies on a particular feature, sparing no expense is probably a good long-term strategy. So tell me: what are your favorites insurance tales? And which celebrity should definitely insure which body part?

Christina Hendricks should DEFINITELY insure that rack.
BREAKING NEWS:
This just in, Ben Roethlisberger has been arrested for trying to have sex with Troy Polamalu’s hair. News at 11.
As a native Pittsburgher and Steeler fan, but hater of Big Ben (I’ve hated him since about two years after he joined the team) I find this comment hilarious.
I think the NFL should have some rules about hair length—I do not like the Yankees but at least they make their players look respectable, like when Johnnie Damon went from looking like a bum at the Red Sox to being clean with the Yankees
Johnny Damon did indeed look like a “bum,” but he donated his hair to Locks of Love.
I think the problem also is the facial hair. The Yankees have strict rules concerning facial hair that makes them look cleaner than most other players. So Damon + Long hair + beard =caveman…and I love Damon
…That’s absurd.
that hair is disgusting. Long hair on a guy is NASTY
Filthy Jesus hater.
I have to agree, I don’t find long hair on a guy attractive at all. I don’t know why, I just find it gross.
oh my God, how have we come to this. Long is is beatiful on anyone. Yes, I am an aging hippie.
I like his hair. There’s nothing about long hair that makes someone look like they’re not respectable unless you have that prejudice already in your mind. It’s silly.
live and let live,I love his hair it’s part of who he is.
I concur! It’s part of his Samoaoan(sp?) heritage to have long hair! =)
And millions are still out of work…can you say skewed priorities?
Red herring. WTF does your comment have to do with anything?
That guy is such a tremendous athlete. I wish he were on my team.
It is unbelieveable that hair can be insured for a million dollars. What happens if he gets a hair cut.Does insurance company sue him. Just unreal.
tight girly pants and log hair … it’s enough to make you WANT to find the scissors and get him drunk just to have some fun – wonder if the insurance covers a bad cut and dye job, or just in case of getting it caught in cleats and locker room doors – this is ridiculous on way too many accounts; its a bad morning cartoon reel.
I really thought that the NFL had rules regarding hair length. With hair as long as his, its a safety issue
They don’t have a rule against it, but it is my understanding that it is “part of the uniform”. So a player who pulles him down by the hair instead of his shirt will not be penalized. But like others have mentioned…it is part of his heritage.
I’d just like to say that Thailand is incredible to say the least, I loved every minute of beqing there. I went having a few friends on a trip. It was perfect for us, and I can honestly say it would be perfect for ones experienced travelers… or unexperienced. So you must go to Thailand!
I don’t really like football but I occasionally watch Steelers games because he is HOT!
