This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony was broadcast live from Bizarro-Hollywood, a magical wonderland where an adorable university professor can get more screen time than the entire cast of Lost. All is not well, however, in Bizarro-Hollywood: a confusing teaser shot for the ‘In Memoriam’ montage featured a picture that looked shockingly like a young Fred Savage. It was actually Corey Haim, but the Internet loves death rumors more than cute cats and porn, so the “Fred Savage is dead” gossip spread within seconds.
Savage himself tweeted from the Hollywood Bowl last night: “Yacht, Chromeoan [sic] and Chemical Brothers. My first techno show kicks ass!!” So unless heaven has an awesome soundtrack, we can deduce that the elder Savage is still alive. But maybe this death rumor is a blessing in disguise?

Can I just say that I already loved Fred Savage from The Wonder Years (and Princess Bride, duh!) , but now that he’s directed some of my favorite It’s Always Sunny episodes, he might just be my favorite former child star ever (sorry Ron Howard).
i would watch the savage brothers live again. at least at first.
That could follow “Melissa and Joey” on ABC Family! (Just hope they bring along Jason Hervey & Will Friedle too
I’d settle for the Wonder Years capitalizing on his ‘demise’ by finally releasing the series on dvd…
MOLE!
Second! (But I’ve heard due to music clearance issues, it may never be released on DVD.)
I never saw the picture of Corey Haim, I only saw Fred Savage’s pic, and immediately I said, I didn’t know he died! They aired the wrong picture during the memoriam and it was an embarrassing error.
they did not air the wrong picture. it was corey haim. they just look alike.
They did NOT air the wrong pic–I saw it and immediately said “Awww, I still can’t believe Corey Haim died!”
Jaded, I said the exact same thing. Fred Savage didn’t even cross my mind.
Wow, your reading comprehension skills are amazing. Did you not notice the point of this article was to say that the picture you saw was NOT of Fred Savage, only that it LOOKED like him? Yikes…
They look nothing alike
I would tune into the Savage Brothers reality show. I think someone needs to make this happen

Fred Savage is fine…he has a career behind the camera directing and producing. I’m more concerned about Ben Savage…has he been in anything since “Boy Meets World”? I feel like I might have seen him in a made-for-TV movie or something a while back, but I miss Cory Matthews!!
BOY MEETS WORLD REUNION!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make it happen Hollywood!
He guest starred in a Season two episode of Chuck, but that was the last time I saw him in anything. Seems to be busy though according to IMDB http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005399/
He was in swimming upstream with Matt czuchry…even that was a while ago.
He was in an episode of Chuck, season 2!
Is it just me or does the guy from Man v. Food look just like Fred Savage? Just an observation. Out.
Man, you scared me with this headline. Don’t do that! But the obvious choice of what Fred Savage should do is to start a rumor that if you play the pilot episode of The Wonder Years backward, you can hear him talking from beyond the grave.
Although they do look similar,
I could tell it was Corey Haim even without my glasses on -
The name ‘Corey Haim’ over the picture was my first clue -
and I agree that Fred Savage should take advantage of this by finally getting The Wonder Years released on DVD.
Amen to getting the wonder years on dvd. That needs to happen ASAP!!
As much as I love “The Wonder Years” and would be happy to see it released on DVD, I would be even happier to get the show “Working” released. I must be the only person in the world who remembers that show, but it was hilarious, and Fred Savage was comedic gold on it (particularly in the episodes that Danica McKeller guest starred in).
Oooo…good call. that show deserved a longer run.
He should leverage it into getting the Wonder Years released on DVD!
Anyone who thought that was Fred Savage is simply blind and has no idea what either Corey Haim or Fred Savage look like. Corey Haim in the picture above, except for having dark hair, bears no “shocking resemblance” to Fred Savage. And the in memoriam most definitely showed and said Corey Haim.
It was the wrong picture. They showed the picture on the right, which is Fred Savage.
I hope you’re joking, after the article above and many posters above explained it “wasn’t” a picture of Fred Savage. Go youtube the clip, it actually showed a video of Corey Haim (not any of the pics above).
I FREAKED OUT when I saw that picture flash up, thinking it was Fred. I looked at my mom with my shocked face and she said “You didn’t know Cory Haim died?”. It truly looked like Kevin Arnold there for a minute. WHEW.
FRED SHOULD SHOW UP AT THE AWARDS TO PROVE HE IS NOT DEAD EVERYONE WILL BE GLAD TO SEE HIM
