Scott Speedman to join Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum in the tearjerker 'The Vow'

Speedman-McAdams-TatumImage Credit: Robin Wong/PR Photos; Janet Mayer/PR Photos (2)I didn’t think The Vow could get any more exciting, and by “exciting” I mean “exactly the kind of sappy romance I force my old college friends to see in the theater with me each year for my birthday.”* But it’s done it: A rep for Scott Speedman confirms that he’s in negotiations to join the film, based on the true story of newlyweds Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, whose love was tested two months into their marriage when a car accident left her in a coma for weeks. When she awoke, she remembered everyone but her husband. Rachel McAdams will star as the bride, Channing Tatum as the groom, and Speedman as McAdams’ former fiancé who reenters the picture. It’s a piece of clever casting: Speedman is believable as a doucheboat or a sweetheart, so he’ll keep us guessing.

Who’s ready to take their friends to see The Vow now?

* How does Charlie St. Cloud only have two showtimes in all of Manhattan — 12:35 p.m. and 10 p.m. — two weeks after its release?

Watch your editing. I think you meant to say, “How does Charlie St. Cloud still have two show-times in Manhattan?”

    • bruno

hahaha…oh jeffrey. so clever. so true

  • Jose

Scott Speedman kind of looks like Aaron Eeckhart in that picture and Tatum looks uglier than ever.

    Happy Birthday by the way.

    • Sam

Tatum looks like a pedophile in that picture. I like him more in action movies because his facial reactions in Dear John was a little cringe worthy.

    • Ceballos

It just looks like he borrowed Brad Pitt’s mustache from “Inglourious Basterds”…except that Pitt was SUPPOSED to look goofy.

    • Erin

ITA – Tatum has not aged well. I never found him that attractive to begin with but ugh he’s gone down-hill in the looks dept. Same with his acting (or lack thereof).

      • Fedup

        Yeah – he’s just…not.

Agreed, Channing Tatum is definitely not my type. Scott Speedman, however, is exactly my type and has been for a very long time. Seriously, though, Channing Tatum is a major turnoff.

  • Jen

I love Rachel McAdam and Scott Speedman but I’m not a huge fan of Channing Tatum especially his acting. I would have watched it if it were Scott playing the husband.

    • Sam

Yup! It’s not much of a tear jerker with Channing Tatum playing the lead actor, it’s more of a ” Is he crying or laughing? ” I think they made a mistake of thinking that he plays Drama really well just because Dear John made more than what was expected. I can’t stand his acting. They are going to aste Rachel McAdam’s talent by putting her with him.

  • Jose

Mandi, New York is doing you a favor by not Charlie St. Cloud in as much screens as possible.

  • nunnya

I love me some Ben…er Scott Speedman. I’ll watch anything he or Scott Foley are a part of.

  • Madd

What is up with McAdams and James Marsden? They’re both talented yet seem to be picking bad projects lately.

    • m1

Since when was starring in films directed by Terrence Malick and Woody Allen a bad decision?

<3 <3 <3 the sound of this! I am a wknd matinee movie-goer but for this, I might do the full Friday night Girl's Night Out. Don't judge…

  • Sarah

Hmm…I really liked Charlie St. Cloud.

    • Sharon

I’m w/ you Sarah – I loved Charlie St. Cloud and cried the whole way through. To put that into perspective – I am a huge movie goer and have sat thru some pretty crappy movies, rarely walking out. I absolutely hated Inception (some did walk outta that one) and left Eat Pray Love last night while Julia big horse face was still in India w/ the weird ugly old man.

Just watched Underworld last week. He fills out a black t-shirt very well.

  • Shane

As has been noted, replace Channing Tatum with an actor and I’m with you, Mandi.

  • Haters Beware

Seriously, if you are not interested in Channing Tatum movies you have a selection of others to view instead and comment on.

It’s extremely boring to hear that the small majority of haters don’t like his movies but still watch anyway. CHANGE THE F**KING RECORD.

Channing Tatumn is very talented actor producer and will make this movie his own. I predict the best thing about this movie will be him.

Dear John has over 2 million facebook fans that should tell you something that his acting is not bad but great. Plus his fan base seems to be growing with each movie.

Rachel is lucky to be working with two talented hunks but I hate reading negative comments about Channing Tatum especially when I know majority of you will be STILL watching the movie anyway, seriously – WHAT’S THE POINT.

Channing is going from strength to strength and he is smart enough to be picking the right projects to work on.

There are lots of Hollywood leading men out there, if you don’t like his work 100% fine it’s your choice, watch something else and let the millions and millions of his true fans appreciate his work.

Bascially, the guy is staying PUT so DEAL WITH IT.

Peace Out (GI Joe always wins).

Ps: That might not be the best picture of him but we all know deep down he is HOT and better than the average guy on the street with a STAR QUALITY that shines.

  • Michelle

Why would anyone marry Channing Tatum when Scott Speedman is the alternative? WTF?!

    • Jose

    • MG

Because she has great eye sight & taste.

  • Meg

  • Nee Nee

Scott Speedman makes me yearn for old Felicity episodes…

  • Kay

I agree that Channing’s not much of an actor, but if this cast isn’t just gorgeous.
