Image Credit: Frank Micelotta/Comedy CentralDid you catch Comedy Central’s Roast of David Hasselhoff last night? Pals like Pam Anderson, Hulk Hogan, and Jerry Springer joined roastmaster Seth MacFarlane and Comedy Central regulars like Lisa Lampanelli, Jeff Ross, and Greg Giraldo in mercilessly mocking the Hoff. The man’s career has provided ample material for an event like this, and nearly all the participants “went there” with regard to that notorious hamburger-on-the-floor video from a few years back.
One performance that everyone’s talking about today came from Whitney Cummings. You can check out a short clip from her contribution to the roast after the jump, but be warned, it’s very NSFW — extreme profanity, racial and sexual name-calling, you name it. (Seriously, don’t watch this clip without headphones.)
Who was your favorite roaster last night? Did you think any of the comedians went too far with their jokes about Hasselhoff’s drinking, or is going too far the whole point of a roast anyway? Sound off in the comments.

Funny, but if that was the highlight I’m glad I didn’t bother… can’t hold a candle to Bob Sagget or even Pam Andersen’s roasts.
Pam’s roast was shown again this past week… I felt bad laughing at some of the jokes people were making, but then again…
Gene Simmon’s roast was on a few weeks ago as well. I watched the entire thing and I have to say, the funniest digs came from his own son, Nick. He’s a funny kid. And I ahve to say also, very classy move by the military to present him with a special honor for all the work he’s done for the military through the USO.
I will have to wait for the reruns of Hoff’s roast, but I’m pretty sure it can’t hold a candle to the classics…
sorry for the misspells…
Yeah, that wasn’t funny at all.
I’m not a prude really, but these roasts are out-of-control mean. I don’t think it’s funny to bully and it really sets a terrible precedent. I hope people don’t watch so they stop making these.
I like how you said “I’m not a prude” then basically defined how you are a prude.
Actually, it does sound like you’re a little prudish. I love it when someone says “I’m not a such-and-such, BUT….”
Stephen, the people that agree to be roasted know exactly what to expect….except for Flava Flav. Roasts are a tradition for fun! Don’t like it don’t watch it. You think these roasts are mean? Have you ever heard of Don Rickles?
I keep thinking that these people will run out of ways to make jokes about how Lisa Lampanelli loves sleeping with black guys, but I see they’re still going strong.
Seriously, who is Lisa Lampanelli?
A fairly hit-and-miss event. The raunch factor was high, but when isn’t it? They might have just as well roasted a pig, for as much as they went after the Hoff; providing little insight into an icon whose main traits are: drinking, singing and acting (listed in order of his aptitude for them). Not one joke about Hasselhoff being out-acted by a car for 4 years? [Cheers to the always uncredited William Daniels for doing what he was asked in the least entertaining bit of the night.]

The jokes at the expense of the dais really provided the bulk of the humor; with the digs at Lisa Lampinelli always providing the best laughs. Gilbert Gottfried stole the show with a particular jibe aimed at her, causing Jeff Ross to attempt a Chinese fire drill around his seat–by far the best joke of the evening. [While the rest of his efforts could have rested comfortably on the cutting room floor.] Greg Giraldo’s homage to Pamela Anderson and Muhammad Ali comes in a close second.

And who knew Seth MacFarlane was funny? Oh yeah, just about everyone. Someone should give him his own show (or 3). [And then cancel 2 of them.] But he proved that he can hold his own against a field of dirty roasters and keep an entire evening, that easily could have gotten more out of control, held together.
yeah the jokes about Lisa Lampanelli and black men are so old at this point.
They went hard on Pamela Anderson though! I think Pamela Anderson was ripped worse than David Hasselhoff.
But the Joan Rivers and Bob Saget roasts were waaay better. I thought for David Hasselhoff, who is easy to make fun of, the roast should have been 10 times funnier. Whitney Cummings was good though.
Mean, yes but funny. I loved Gilbert and enjoyed the skewering of Seth McFarlane.
Hasselhoff is like a freaking parody. He is such an egotist that he’s almost impervious to embarrassment. I dont think the roasters went over the top. I just wish that a guy like Andrew Dice Clay was there to add some comments. Now THAT would take it over the top for sure.
Love a real roast. I watch the dean Marten roast the best of all time.
What??
