Stellan Skarsgård is in talks to star in David Fincher’s remake of Swedish film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (based on the novel by Stieg Larsson, pictured). He’d play Martin Vanger, one of the story’s main suspects in the 40-year-old disappearance of a teenage girl. Hey, I thought this was supposed to be a U.S. version! What’s a Scandinavian doing in our remake of an already good movie?!
I’m just kidding. But does anyone else constantly do a double take upon reading that last name? Vote below.

Alex. Hello, blue J. Crew V-Neck.
SIGH!!!!!! That man can wear a sweater
haha. that damn blue v-neck sweater.
That sweater was so fantastic on him, I actually got annoyed when he got blood all over it.
Vampires just shouldn’t wear cashmere. Talbot should know this.
LOL. Me too. I saw that blood and thought, NOOOOO NOT THE SWEATER!!!
Yes.
Amen.
Stellan Skarsgård is an awesome casting call, David Fincher. Also, the Swedish version of the movie really isn’t that good.
I agree with that. Watched this weekend and there are some major plot and significant character differences.
Awesome choice. I actually thought of someone like Tom Hanks who plays mostly good guys for the role because Martin isn’t an obvious villain until all the dots are connected. His respectable good person facade hid a lot of evil, something that most of Larson’s antagonists figure have in common.
So far with him and Craig, they seem to be doing a good job with casting the primary roles.
Speaking anything unfavorable of those films around here will probably get you some hate, but I agree. I liked the girl who played Lisbeth, and disliked the casting and characterizations of most of the rest of the roles.
I don’t agree with the second part of your comment but do agree that casting Stellan would be perfect! I was actually hoping he could get involved with this movie in some way. He’s a fantastic actor!
Perfect choice.
Who is Peter Skarsgard?
srsly? An Education, Kinsey, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s husband…
or was that just a spelling comment?
I know who Peter Sarsgaard is, but I thought that perhaps there was a Peter Skarsgard I’d never heard of.
WOOOOOOO!!!
I can’t believe the results! I had to look up this alex character and after going through the IMDBs I still don’t really know who he is… I voted Peter btw.
Sexy vamp Eric from True Blood. Hello.
I assume you mean Peter Sarsgaard?
I did, yeah. I thought it was pretty clear that he was the most famous closely (enough) aligned name.
A lot of people think it’s Peter Skarsgard. Then I make them watch his SNL skit Peter Sarsgaard’s SARS Guard and they get it.
Stellan is a fantastic actor, but he usually plays supporting characters or is in foreign films. most people know him as “that guy who was in Good Will Hunting and played Bootstrap Bill.” Whereas Alex is hot property right now.
I used to think Stellan because I heard of him first. But now I think of his son
Alex.
Yum… naked Eric vampire…
Not enough people have seen that great SNL skit…otherwise, “pirates” will have more than 3% of the vote!
When I hear Skarsgard I immediately think of Alexander. But to be fair, I would probably already be thinking of Alexander anyway.
Love it! And me too!
AGREE AGREE AGREE
Sin, in American roles he does. In the original version of Insomina which by far is his finest work, he played Al Pacino’s role.
OH I know. And that version of Insomnia is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar superior to the American version.
Oh I second that for sure!!!! I love me some Chris Nolan, but the original Insomnia is a classic, and the role I identify Papa Skarsgard with more so than those pirate movies! Of course, Alex is the first Skarsgard to come to mind, followed for me by the Popwatch category just because I love the play on words and wonderfully accurate description of the category’s title!
It is. Nolan should have stuck to the orignal script. Oh well.
Please put up a picture of Alexander Skarsgard. Preferably that one where he’s laying down in that gray suit with his shirt open……..I’m sorry, I might of just drooled on my computer.
Excellent casting choice! I hope he’ll take on the role because he would do well with the character. I chose pirates, but I am in total agreement that Alex in that blue sweater really is the only Skarsgard I think about these days
Daniel Craig and now Stellan Skarsgard. It’s like they are casting slightly better looking versions of the actors from the original film.
