Another day, another fountain of news spurting out of TCA. Yesterday, Glee creator Ryan Murphy announced to journalists that he was developing a half-hour musical comedy series for his dear friend Kristin Chenoweth. Though the Emmy-winning actress did guest on Glee, the new show would not be a spin-off, but rather a brand new series that would showcase Chenoweth’s unique talent. “I’ve always wanted to do something for Kristin,” Murphy was quoted as saying. “Kristin is a good, close friend of mine obviously, so I’m writing a half-hour musical comedy specifically for Kristin because if you can sing like that, I want her to be the star of her own show where she sings. I can’t say too much about it yet. Kristin is so funny. I want it to be adult.” The project is in its nascent stages, but EW can confirm that Chenoweth is indeed in negotiations to star.
What do you think of this idea, PopWatchers? Are you game for a Murphy-Chenoweth collaboration? Since details are scant, let’s make up our own premise. Chenoweth as a singing sleuth? Chenoweth as a singing dressmaker? Chenoweth as a singing phlebotomist? Should there be pies? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Chenowith as a singing phone book reader? I don’t care, I’d still watch!! Can’t wait….
I hate her she is the most annoying non reality show celebrity.
totally agree Jaded1.
Haha Jaded1, I agree. Heck, I’d watch her knit as long as she at least hums.
I’d watch her in anything…she is totally unique and totally talented!
“I’d watch her in anything”
I’d rather watch her in nothing. IfyouknowwhatImean..
I love her and anything she does is great.
I went to school with Kristen Chenoweth in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I like everything that she has done from Broadway, Movies and TV Shows. I will always be her number one fan.
I like Glee, I like Chenowith, but can we breathe for a minute before a million Glee rip-offs start popping up everywhere?
I don’t think it is actually a rip off when the creator of the original is doing it.
Also, I think it’s unfair to call anything musical a “Gle rip-off” musicals existed long before Gle was created. Both on television and in a high school setting (High School Musical anyone?). The only relation between Glee and this show is music.
Ok, y’all hoes don’t know if it’s a rip-off till it debuts so dorothy might be right, so step off.
Have to agree with the others. Just because something is a musical does not make it a Glee Ripoff. Hell, with your logic, Glee is a Fame ripoff.
There should most certainly be pies.
And Lee Pace
Pies and Lee Pace – sounds wonderful.
Agreed!
Mmmmm…and let’s not forget that Mr. Pace did some singing in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day!
There must be pies. And a piemaker. And people coming back from the dead.
And (how could I forget?) narration by the incomparable Jim Dale!
Or they could just bring back Pushing Daises!
A pushing daisies spin-off. Olive leaves Ned and the pie shop in order to become a singer. Yes. Make this happen
Or a singing horse trainer. Loved the jockey episode.
Pies, Piemaker, and people coming back from the dead (…well sort of) made me think Sweeney Todd!
meh…i wish she’d lay off the bronzer…
Can he just bring back Pushing Daisies?
agreed. I’d rather see more Pushing Daisies than adult Glee-esque show.
yes! i watched the show for the first time a while back, and i truly don’t understand why it was cancelled. it was brilliance.
Agree more!!! Pushing Daisies should be back! She had a great character and there was still lots of stuff to explore, besides glee is enough with musical series, I repeat and agree with other comments that instead there should be more Pushing Daisies
Pusing Daisies was a victim of the writer’s strike, if I remember correctly.
That would be “Pushing”
Oh, hell, yes!
Bring back Pushing Daisies and keep Murphy away from the scripts.
I will watch anything she is in, in which she also sings. ANYTHING.
Where she sings, I will follow.
Ditto!
She should star as a singing waitress that works at a pie shop…
I second dpinmd (and others): “There must be pies. And a piemaker. And people coming back from the dead. And (how could I forget?) narration by the incomparable Jim Dale!”
Oh, how I miss Pushing Daisies!
I think she should be a singing PI who partners with a wise-cracking PI played by Chi McBride. I loved them together on ‘Pushing Daisies’
A lovely lady that shoud be given a slam bang show. However, she should have a little nosh now and then cause she looks a little thin. I don*t know what she should have: a nice apple , a good sandwich or maybe a slice of. . . wait for it, coconut custard . . . .
I think a Chenoweth show would be more successful now than it was the last time she tried to head up her own show. I’d watch it, but it’d have to keep the comedy along with the music and not be bombed with stupid theme nights like Glee has this past season.
I just want pie, and the piemaker.
If they cast Idina Menzel as her whacky friend, this will be my new favorite show.
Oh heck yes…let’s make this happen!
