Image Credit: Bill McCay/WireImage.comAretha Franklin is a die-hard Democrat and Condoleezza Rice was once passionate conservative George W. Bush’s right-hand foreign-policy woman. So what powerful force exists in this world that could bring these two together in perfect harmony? Music, baby. Music. And charity: The two shared the stage last night at Philadelphia’s Mann Music Center for a benefit supporting programs for inner city children. Rice played piano for the Queen on “I Say A Little Prayer” and “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee.”
City of Brotherly (and Sisterly) Love indeed.
She ain’t the funkiest tool in the shed, but you gotta admit Condi holds it down — hey, you try looking funky next to Aretha.

Ghostbusters II FTW
haha! thank you EW for that Ghostbusters throwback, it was my first LOL moment of the day!
Wow, somebody feed Aretha a buger, she is wasting away to nothing, she has to be down to 400 pounds. Somebody feed her!
Everytime I see a post like this, I can’t help but roll my eyes. Seriously, don’t you people have friends outside those who share your own political beliefs? Just because two people are registered with different political parties doesn’t mean they have to hate each other or cannot associate. In fact, they can *gasp* even be friends. Certainly, I’m not saying Aretha and Condi are friends, but what do their political viewpoints have anything to do with the fact that they did a charity concert together? Honestly, what’s the big deal???
Right on, Vicki — the media is always shocked when people of different political beliefs. I often find that people with different political beliefs are more interesting to hang out, because the discussion is livelier!
*people of different political beliefs befriend each other. (Sorry that I omitted that part of the first sentence of my reply!)
Every time I see a post like yours I wonder, “Why be angry when they’re promoting something positive?” And, for the record, America is currently more polarized across party lines than the Vietnam War era. So, yes, it’s (symbolically) a big deal. Seems like ABC is pitching in to the effort to mend fences. Seems rather positive to me.
Good for them! I really wish EW would have mentioned that this performance was for music education. “This performance is a benefit for programs supporting inner city children and The Mann Center education programs.” (from the Mann Center’s Website).
Amazing show and Sugardaddieshookup was very good
Condi Rice told the 9/11 Commission and the 9/11 Widows under oath that the “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US” memo was not a warning. It warned of preparations for hijackings and planned attacks in the US.
On July 10, 2001, CIA director George Tenet warned Condi that al Qaeda attacks were coming in the next few weeks. Later he said acting on those warnings might have prevented 9/11. Cofer Black said “The only thing we didn’t do was pull the trigger to the gun we were holding to her head.”
The UK, Germany, Italy, and Egypt warned of aircraft as weapons; Russia of suicide pilots; Jordan and the Cayman Islands of attacks involving airlines. 13 foreign countries and 3 FBI offices warned. Israel warned of 19 terrorists plotting inside the USA, and named at least 4 of the alleged hijackers.
The German press reported that the August 6 PDB was actually 11-1/2 pages long, not the 1-1/2 pages we’ve seen.

Gee, “Brian”, maybe the German press report (naturally not referenced) was a TYPO; you know, 11 instead of 1 ?
Of course that wouldn’t fit with your obvious LIHOP conclusion, right?
CT, the report was by Oliver Schrom in the German weekly “Die Zeit”, October 2, 2002, and if you had watched the video I references you would know that. Google: Condi Oath
