Sharon Stone set for 'Sweet Baby Jesus,' Tracy Morgan to star in HBO stand-up special


  • Sharon Stone will play the mother of Mary in Sweet Baby Jesus. Fitting, because “Sweet baby Jesus!” was exactly the phrase I used upon seeing Basic Instinct 2. [Deadline]
  • This November, HBO will premiere Tracy Morgan: Black and Blue, a stand-up special from the 30 Rock star. (Filming will take place at the Apollo Theatre Sept. 24 and 25.) “The special is going to be all the elements: fire, water, earth, air, the comedy bender, the avatar of comedy experience,” the comedian said in a press release. We were hoping for A Blaffair to Rememblack, but we’ll settle for Blavatar.
  • Speaking of, Nickelodeon has scheduled The Legend of Korra — the network’s spin-off of Avatar: The Last Airbender — for 2011. Because we all need one big wave from the Water Tribe to help us wash this from our memory. [Associated Press]
  • FremantleMedia is producing The Drivers, a series inspired by Wallace A. Wyss’ Shelby: The Man, the Cars, the Legend. The show centers on young race car drivers who attempt to win the Le Mans race. [Variety]
  • Emily Mortimer and Michael Stuhlbarg are the latest to join Martin Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret. Stuhlbarg is on tap to play a film restorer, while Mortimer will play a flower shop girl. Is Tommy her favorite customer? [THR]
  • Teenage Paparazzo‘s Bert Marcus is once again teaming up with Adrian Grenier for How to Make Money Selling Drugs, a documentary about the war on drugs and addiction that boasts interviews with 50 Cent, Eminem, Woody Harrelson, and Susan Sarandon. Come on — when will you ever see these four in a movie together again?
  • Skydance Prods., Dark Horse Entertainment, and Mark Gordon will adapt Cole Haddon’s  The Strange Case of Hyde for the big screen. [THR]
  • Syfy announced in a press release that the second half of season one of Caprica will premiere January 2011.

      I think Tracy Morgan is hlarious. He’s essential on 30 Rock. You do realize that saying things like “[So-and-so] isn’t funny” is completely stupid, right? Humor is subjective. For instance, d-bags find Dane Cook’s stand up hilarious. I don’t. You don’t find Tracy Morgan funny. I do. See?
