But it’s gotten me thinking: What celebrity would be the best officiant ever? It’s a tall order. They need to be eloquent and warm, with a little gravitas but also some humor. Boring ceremonies = the worst. My first choice is Neil Patrick Harris, because what can’t that guy do? I think he’d crush it. A close second, though, based on my BFF’s suggestion, is Wallace Shawn. Martin Sheen and Meryl Streep also seem like solid choices.
Maybe it’d be better to have someone with a little fictional experience, though. Loudon Wainwright did it in 40-Year-Old Virgin, Matt LeBlanc on Friends, Amy Poehler solemnized a penguin wedding on Parks and Recreation — they all seem like good options too. Your turn, PopWatchers: What celebrity do you want to officiate?

Real celebrity: Jane Lynch
Fictional character: Father Gerald from “Four Weddings and a Funeral”…maybe he has the hang of it by now, and it probably wouldn’t be boring.
Mr. Bean. but I’d want him to do it just like the character he played in 4 Weddings and a Funeral
Chris Walken.
Absolutely.
Real: Kathy Griffin (hey, it wouldn’t be boring).
Fictional: Ron Swanson.
You could DEFINITELY get Ron Swanson to do it. Just make sure he’s had plenty of food to eat beforehand (and after).
And it would have to be breakfast food, of course.
Ahhh, Ron Swanson. I love it!
Ha – They should be breakfast foods for Ron Swanson!
“I’d like the Swanson, please”
OMG RON SWANSON! I LOVE IT!
Then he could provide entertainment with the smooth jazz of Duke Silver….
NPH would be awesome! And I’m thinking Mike Rowe. He’s got an awesome voice, he’s charismatic and he’s got a great sense of humor.
Sadly, Mike Rowe would distract me from my groom. That man is YUMMY!
NPH has experience, he officiated the first for Lily and Marshall, and almost didn’t cry.
You beat me to this comment! haha that was such a good episode
I came to the comments to say the EXACT same thing! Thanks!
I’d vote for Morgan Freeman. He’s got the voice, charm, and emotion.
Along the same line. James Earl Jones.
I’m leaning toward Alec Baldwin or The Old Spice Guy (on a horse, of course).
By the way, great picture Margaret! lol
“do you take this woman to be your wife… look at her… now look at me”
Real: Mike Rowe
Fictional: Franck from Disney’s “Father of the Bride” (with Steve Martin, Diane Keaton)
Agree with Ed Q. – Rowan Atkinson (mr. bean) – In the name of the father, the son and the holy spicket.
Tim Gunn!!!
Real Celebrity: Bono
Fictional character: The Dude (Jeff Lebowski)
William Shatner!
I agree with the idea of Martin Sheen. If he could do it as President Bartlet, even better.
Tracy Morgan. Or Tracy Jordan. Whichever.
“i hope this couple will forever love each other…. so much that they will take each other out behind the middle school and get him/her PREGNANT.”
