'The Apprentice' First Look: The Donald is back with some recession-plagued contestants

It seems like just yesterday that he crowned Bret Michaels the champ of Celebrity Apprentice, but the Donald is back with the show that started it all, The Apprentice, and by the looks of things, the show is getting a warm and fuzzy makeover for its new season.

Embedded after the jump, check out our exclusive first look at the promo for the new Apprentice, jam-packed with contestants who were affected by the recession and are hungry to win. Is it wrong that we’re crying already?

I watched (and really enjoyed) the original season of “The Apprentice”, but eventually lost interest…until the relentless ridiculousness of “Celebrity Apprentice.”

I don’t know whether or not I’m back in for original flavor “Apprentice”, but I’ll probably at least check out the premiere.

I think I’ll stick with watching the ridiculous adventures in Celebrity Apprentice. However, if Blago would happen to stop by The Apprentice I’d totally watch.

The original Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice worked because Trump was yelling at people who were already rich, successful and really had nothing to lose. Given the feel good “second chance” angle the producers are trying to push this season, it makes me wonder if Trump has it in him to pull this off. I mean, do you think America will enjoy watching him yell at a bunch of people who got laid off and had their lives ruined because of the recession?

      Excellent point.

Highlighting the fact that a lot of these people were affected by the recession may not be the best plan of action given that the show’s catchphrase is “You’re fired!”

    hmm Undercover Boss anyone?

Everyone knows how to play the game now and it’s no fun to watch people setting each othter up for failure so they can be king of the hill – if I wanted to see that I would just go to work and look at all the directors around me – they throw people under the bus every day if not every hour of the day – I watch tv for entertainment – not to remind me of what my bosses are up too…

Finally! I watched a couple of episodes of Celebrity Apprentice, but really, I didn’t care if any of them won, and neither did they. It was like when they ruined Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with the non stop celebrity episodes, there’s no real drama when the person doesn’t care if they win or not. I enjoyed The Apprentice, even the Martha Stewart version, but I avoided the celebrity crap like the plague. This should be good. I just have one request, Ivana is great, but please bring back George!

I agree. I tried Celebrity Apprentice but lost interest quickly, especially the season before with the queen of face-lift’s Joan Rivers winning. The whole premise of celebrity is who knows the most people with money, their ability to run a business came in a long way back in priority. I don’t mind Ivana, she’s appears pretty smart, it’s the brother I have a problem with. Let George replace him.

Exactly. I watched the original Apprentice, even organized my scheduled around it, but it got worse with each season. But I only watched a few episodes of Celebrity Apprentice because there is no drama when people are already rich. They keep putting these celebrity episodes in all shows, and it makes it boring. Not to mention that with Celebrity Apprentice, it was all about which celebrity’s friends would donate more money and not about actual task.

Great concept. Hopefully they execute it well. The show started well but began to drop in quality when they casted clowns opposed good business man and woman. Seems they are stepping away from the side shows and giving actual intelligent and hardworking people a real opportunity. Hopefully, the perception this teasers illustrates is the reality of next seasons Apprentice.

    SHAMELESS!!!!!!

I love the Apprentice and the Celebrity Apprentice

  • Brian

The preview makes me wonder if they will shift the whole course of the show and make it about uplifting people and getting them functioning again versus firing them. THAT’LL be interesting to see Trump tackle that. haha

    unemployed in armani suits

    • kitty

That may not be a big deal as there are plenty of people fired from Wall Street who had these suits before. Plus, some of them may have gotten into debt buying those.

  • terri

I vote that we go back to the original Apprenitice. Us recession people do still have dreams and it’s nice sometimes to see those recession folks dream fulfilled.

  • PetWar1

Heck, there’s lots of minimum wage jobs out there. It beats working for Trump. Haha.

    • What? 2

I hate to ruin your um comment but there are not actually that many minimum wage jobs out there. That is how bad the recession has hit many areas. I am a college educated woman with the looks to go with it but I cannot find a job to make my rent. Living with parents sure does suck!

Ehh I’m not impressed where are all the MBA’s and Rhodes Scholars who graduated Magna Cum Laude? Did he not wanna make his daughter and son look dumb(er)
