Image Credit: Andrew Eccles/ABC FamilyGot a secret, can you keep it? I’m in love with Pretty Little Liars. And I can’t be alone: In the last few weeks, every conversation I’ve had about TV has somehow wound its way to ABC Family’s dark little soapy teen drama. The mystery! The ridiculously hot English teacher! The obvious red herrings that we’re falling for anyway! Argh, I even love the Big Chill-homage (almost) opening titles.
The show’s not going to be taking home a Peabody anytime soon, but remember the trashy intrigue of that first season of Desperate Housewives? Remember dying to know what big bad secret Serena was keeping on the first season of Gossip Girl? Remember when Pacey hooking up with his teacher was like, national news? I remember all these things fondly, and PLL scratches those same itches, but with spookier undercurrents. More, please.
Have you fallen for Liars the way I have, PopWatchers? It’s edging out Make It or Break It for me, largely because its characters are way less predictable. Is it taking top teen honors for you?

I’ve been waiting for you all to bring it up. I love PLL – I’m in my 20s, and honestly can’t get enough of it. You rarely see a show aimed at teens that is brave enough to take on Student/Teacher relationships (only other I can think of is Life as We Know It). I’m seriously impressed with this show.
I wouldn’t say that. I can name three others. Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, and Degrassi. None of them handled very well. I wouldn’t say it’s a very brave topic.
So did The O.C.
same.
In my 20′s, so i would refer to this as my “guilty pleasure”… but it’s too good for that…I haven’t done teen drama since Veronica Mars… but PLL is fantastic.
Veronica Mars is in a league all on its own.
Are you saying PLL is that good? (not sarcasm, just legitimate wondering)
Kale good call with the VMars! It is absolutely like that. Albeit, not as funny– no one can deliver a line quite like Kristen Bell. But this show has absolutely sucked me in.
I LOVE this show! It’s so ridiculous, but so fun.. and the English is SO hot
*English teacher, obviously. To make up points, the character is actually named Ezra Fitz…
Ezra Fitz is kind of the hottest name ever. And that man is absolutely gorgeous.
I’ve been meaning to try it, but I haven’t got around to it. Sounds pretty fun.
It has been a trending topic on Twitter every Tues since it started.
This show is a great guilty pleasure. LOVE it.
love the show!!!!! Love Mr. Fitz!
I am a 19 year-old man and I love this show. PS: if you have read the books, please do not post spoilers
I HATE that! Someone ruined it for me by posting MAJOR spoilers in the comments section. I still hate them a week later…
I absolutely love this show I’m 26 and this is my favorite show on right now next is The Good Wife! Also I heard it will not be like the books so it can’t be spoiled..
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I’m in my mid-twenties and I absolutely love it like a high school girl.. it’s my Tuesday night guilty pleasure.
I love this show. I love the english teacher and even though I know the love affair with a student is wrong. I can’t get enough. Good twists and turns every episode.
I didn’t think the show would be all that good, but I love it!!!
If you love the show, then you should really read the books. They are twice as addicting and even more fun!
Agreed! The books are SO addicting! I read the whole series in a week! They will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time! And they are so unpredictable…you NEVER see what’s coming…and I love that!
I thought it was going to be another one of those trashy teen soap dramas, but i seriously cannot get enough. SUCH a guilty pleasure!
I also can’t get enough of Spencer’s J.Crew-esque wardrobe.
LOVE this show!!! Best show of the summer along with True Blood, Top Chef and Royal Pains!!!
I watched it the first week with my sisters and made fun of it mercilessly, thinking nothing of it. Then I watched the next week for giggles. And then the next week. Now it’s my favorite summer show. I’m not sure how it happened, but I’m not complaining.
I did the exact same thing. I watched it to make fun of it and now I can’t stop watching it.
I did that too. Now I’m like addicted. I wasn’t actually expecting it to be good.
