Jezebel has up a way-excellent compilation of 57 Hollywood actors emptying their tear ducts for our viewing pleasure. (See the video embedded after the jump.) Among my favorites: Tom Cruise’s strangled, furious weeping in Magnolia; Denzel Washington’s proud, defiant tear in Glory; and — of course — every single one of the 146 times Robert De Niro has cried on screen. (Seriously, there’s a lot more than you might’ve guessed from such a consummate tough guy!) Which are your faves? And who did they miss? I notice the very first comment over at Jezebel.com is a still of Johnny Depp in Crybaby.

whats the song playing?
I know it’s “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” originally performed by Melissa Manchester, but I’m not sure who this is. Willie Nelson?
That’s Peter Allen singing “Don’t cry out loud.”
So glad to see Alec Baldwin in there. I’ve always said that nobody can top his crying (multiple times) in The Marrying Man.
Ewan Mcgregor
I’m surprised there was no Leo DiCaprio. He’s cried in almost all of his movies and he’s a TERRIBLE whiny crier. His worst cry was in Basketball Diaries. Ugh.
look again…he is in there.
he is in there. They show him for a split second near the end crying in scene from Basketball Diaries.
ok where was will smith? Every time without fail, I cry when he cries in a movie.
You and me both.
Ben Affleck in Chasing Amy, Pearl Harbor, Bounce, Jersey Girl.
I’ve always really liked how Brad Pitt cried in Se7en. Such a sad moment and he acted it really well.
“What’s in the box?!”
…I loved his crying in Legends of the Fall…
Best clip: Will Ferrell as Ron Burgandy
Al Pacino in Godfather 3 confessing.
And I guess it doesn’t count, being TV, but Jack Bauer at the end of season 3 just breaks my heart when he cries.
Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump at Jenny’s grave. Rips me up everytime.
Ron Burgandy FTW. He was in a glass case of emotion!
Heath Ledger crying in Brokeback Mountain gets me every time.
Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but I thought he was fantastic in Magnolia. It’s a great film.
The best without question is from the other side of the Atlantic … John Simm. Watch the first episode of the UK’s Life on Mars and you’ll totally agree with me.
