Just when I thought the highlight of my morning was going to be finding a box of old-but-still-good noodles in the fridge for breakfast, along comes the trailer for Red, a movie that just jumped to the top of my Fall must-see list. The setup: A bunch of retired CIA agents get back into the game. Why? I don’t know. And I can’t say I care all too much, as long as those agents are played by a cast this amazing: Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Mary Louise Parker, and John Malkovich. Check it out below, along with our picks for the three aweseome-est moments.
And now for those moments:
1. A camouflaged, crazy-eyed John Malkovich launched 20 feet through the air by a human catapult while holding a crossbow. John, I’ve really, really missed you.
2. Morgan Freeman, dressed in a Sgt. Pepper-style military jacket, giving a mean right hook to Richard Dreyfuss. Looking for a Mr. Holland’s Opus connection here; not finding it; still loving it.
3. Helen Mirren pistol-whipping some dude in a suit. I know this is kind of like the first example, but come on. Dame Helen Mirren. Pistol whipping. How could I resist?

Although, what is with Bruce Willis and being a part of the government or always with guns? Isn’t there a game where you count how many times Bruce has been a cop or shooting people or something? Love the guy but goodness gracious =)
If Helen Mirren does not become an action star, it will be one of the world’s great travesties.
Ok, so let me get this straight.
This movie has two of my top 15 celebrity crushes (Mirren and Parker), Bruce Willis in kick-a$$ action-comedy mode (the best Bruce Willis mode there is). On top of that, you get Freeman having fun and Malkovich in manic “Burn After Reading”-mode? (LOVED Malkovich in that movie!)

I like that this trailer highlights their Academy Award history, but isn’t Bruce Willis a nominee too? Why don’t they point that out?
…they didn’t point it out because he’s never been nominated.
(I don’t know why, but I’m usually amused when a trailer points out a cast’s Academy Award history…and there’s always one or two people who get nothing by their name.)
Too bad it’s not coming out for a long time. It looks like a great summer movie.

It sure was, according to IMDB, which also says that apparently Brian Cox and Julian McMahon show up at some point… I’m liking this movie more and more.
You can see Julian McMahon in the trailer – he’s one of the guys being confronted by John Malkovich with the bomb jacket.
