Yes, I cried. I cried after the movie ended, because the Academy Awards will Never give a Best Picture award to an Animated, Non-English, and/or Documentary movie and Toy Story 3 is more than worthy to win a Best Picture of the Year award. Pixar has released 11 consecutive critical and box office blockblusters and they have No chance of ever being the Best Picture award, because they make Animated movies. I doubt if I will spend 4 hours watching the Academy Awards next year, just to see some “serious human drama movie with live actors” take the Best Picture award, as they have 99% of the time. Annie Hall a 1977 comedy won in 1978, and that was about the last time there was an execption to the Best Picture rule.

“Pixar has no chance of ever Recieving the Best Picture Award, because they make Animated Movies.” Recieving instead of Being as I first wrote.

    • lisamarch

You make a very good point here.

  • Steve

While I did not actually cry, I felt like I was going to. There were a lot of touching scenes in that movie that really moved me.

  • Wendy

My whole theater was sobbing for the last 30 min from the moment Jessie asked Buzz ‘What do we do now?’ to ‘So long Partner’ there was nothing but sniffles all around.

There were moments early in the movie that suckerpunched me too (didn’t cry but they stung). First when Andy answers his cell phone and Woody is holding the cordless & he hugs it for a second out of the love of Andy’s voice & you just knew how long it hand been since the toys commanded any of Andy’s attention. That was compounded when Rex laments that Andy actually ‘held him’. Finally when Woody winces at the mention of BooPeep’s absence & they pan out showing how few of them are left.

    • Nicole

YES, the way Woody held the phone a little tighter when he heard Andy’s voice was brilliant.

    • dragonrider888

Yes, thanks SO much for bringing that up! I almost forgot about that scene, but that was probably the first scene during the movie that made me emotionally flinch.

  • F

Definitely the hand holding in the incinerator. I also cried anytime the security guard monkey was in a scene. But those were tears fronm laughing so hard. Hilarious!

    • Karen

The incinerator scene was by far the most moving part of the movie. I see people saying, “I didn’t cry there because I knew they wouldn’t die.” Heavens, I wouldn’t cry because I thought the toys were going to perish. I cried because of the grand and noble sentiments that were summed up in that scene–for me it’s knowing that the writers understand the grace and dignity of rising above the injustice of their apparent fate. That’s why that scene was sweet to me.

  • Summer

    1. Incinerator. My sister, niece and I ALL thought that it was going to be the WORST ending for a movie EVER. ;o;
    2. The moment Andy started introducing all of his toys to Bonnie.
    3. Andy flinched when Bonnie reached for Woody…
    4. When he played with all of his toys (and hers) one last time before leaving.
    5. THE CLOUDS IN THE SKY.

    • James

on #1, yeah I had to remember that the movie was rated G…meaning no way the toys get destroyed there.

  • lem

How about the part with Bo Peep? So sad. And then of course the hand-holding and when Andy saw Woody at the bottom of the box. Continual sob till the end.

  • redeye

From the hand holding on…I was just a bawling mess. As was my husband sitting next to me. It didn’t help that we took our two little ones to see it at the drive-in and they were snuggled up on our laps. Oh god..now I’m all teared up thinking about it again! Damn you, Pixar!!!!!!!

    • James

      LOL!!

In all seriousness, Pixar has just continued to deliver home run after home run. I think TS3 is honestly their best one, and that’s saying boatloads!

  • Freda

Loved that whole movie-and didn’t even have any grandkids with us this time- just hubby and me–didn’t cry outloud- but had tears running down my cheeks when Andy and Bonnie were playing together at the end. Lovely story for children and adults alike.

  • James R

The Incinerator and when Bonnie had Woody wave to Andy as he was leaving. It was as if for one moment Andy knew that Woody was alive.

    • Flyer

Yes! I caught that final moment between Andy and Woody too! I thought the movie might end with a grown-up Andy passing along his toys to his own children, but I liked this ending better because the toys didn’t have to wait in storage for years before having a new child to bond with.

      • grace

Yes –showed what a nice kid Andy was and why the toys loved him.

      • Christine

Ok folks, now I have goosebumps. Managing to keep the tears at bay at work though. But feeling worse about the unknown fate of my old toys. It’s just a movie, it’s just a movie, it’s just a movie….wow, what an effect “just a movie” is having on me. :-)

    • Stephen

Was it just me…or did Woody actually smile more. As in it actually moved so Andy might have seen it?

      • amy

Yes, I thought noticed that too!

  • Abby

I haven’t even seen it and I am crying at these comments!

    • Diana

I haven’t seen it either but I’m crying too!!! I have to go see this movie TODAY!!!!

  • Kesha

1)When Woody went in the college box and the others went in the attic box.
    2)Andy’s mom in his room
3)During the narration about Lotso Huggins was replaced
4)The flinch when Andy was resistant to giving up Woody
    5)Now

    • Deanna

Yeah, now. Just reading the comments and remembering the scenes. My kids grew up with Woody & Buzz and still have all the toys.

      • stephanie

        Cried during:
        1) Lotso Huggins flashback
        2) Incinerator
        3) Andy finding Woody at the bottom of box and talking about him.

My son has Woody, Buzz, Jesse, Bullseye, Rex, and a Mr. Potato Head, after watching this I guarentee I will never get rid of them!!!

  • bkwurm1

I’m a 36 year old female who tried to be tough in front of her 3 nephews and failed from the start. Teared up constantly in the beginning like at the end of the first “You’ve got a friend in me” section-the music transitioning into a faded echo got to me as did when they mentioned BoPeep being gone (Woody’s expression) and then when when Andy held both Woody and Buzz and then couldn’t part with Woody and stuck him in his college bound box…that’s what I call bonded with a toy! I also got a little teary when Big Baby said “mama” remembering Daisy. Then when Andy started introducing his toys to Bonnie it was just a steady stream of tears and I can still tear up now thinking about Andy’s reaction to Woody waving goodbye. Thank goodness for the funny stuff over the credits.

    • lisa

I cried when Big Baby said Mama too!!!! And a little bit during the flashback when Lotso Chuckles and Big Baby were left behind.

  • TD

Heh, Just reading this is getting me a bit. Good thing they added a bit of extra during the credits to let us clear our eyes :)

    • Christine

Agreed, glad they had some pity on us sappy folk!

  • Frank

I’ll admit it. I’m 20 and teared up 2 times.
    -Andy and Bonnie playing together
-Andy driving away while Woody sayin, “So Long Partner”

  • Christine

Well, let’s just say I’m in my 30′s and I only barely kept it from overflowing. My two scenes:
    1) Mom crying in Andy’s room
    2) Andy driving away, it was a closing to a part of life all of us (at this age) have already gone through.

The only reason I made it through the hand-holding was the fact that I kept thinking it can’t end this way, how are they gonna get out. That was enough to distract me. Excellent movie though.

    • Flyer

The Claw! What an excellent way to reference the past!

    • Charles B

My 12 year old reminded me at the movie that there was no way they were going to let a kids movie end that way.

      • lisa

Yeah the only reason I thought that they really might die is cause it looked like the Aliens had been killed. I thought if the writers could kill the aliens that they wouldn’t have a problem killing the rest of them. sneaky sneaky lol
