'MTV Movie Awards': We live-blogged 'em!

Editor’s note: Hello, movie fans! Our live blog has ended, but you can scroll down and click PLAY to relive every thrilling moment (warning: Spoilers abound!). Or skip right to the chase and find out who won. Also, check out our look at the night’s most outrageous fashion, and come back in a few hours for our gallery of the show’s best and worst moments, including Sandra Bullock’s return to the spotlight.

Join Mandi Bierly and me at 9 p.m. ET tonight as we sit at our respective laptops like statues and settle in with our own bushels of non-metallic Golden Popcorn to live blog the MTV Movie Awards! Aziz Ansari is hosting. Christina Aguilera is performing. Olympic Stud of the Day Shaun White will be presenting. This is so huge. Get ready.

My early predictions for tonight’s shenanigans: Four or more Jersey Shore cast members (male or female) will display heavage on the red carpet, but one will be shockingly covered up, presenter Betty White will make a slightly WTF face at the spectacle of it all (and then a blatant comment about it), and Mandi will have way more to say about MTV’s exclusive Eclipse clip (!!!!) than I will. Leave your own predictions in the comments below, and we’ll see you back here at 9 p.m.!

New Moon will win everything. Unless The Hangover ends up winning everything, which I would love.
Will DJ Roomba make a guest appearance, or is it too busy haunting Jerry?

    • crispy

Screw this show, why isn’t JB preforming?! Justin Christina?! Seriously?! Yeah.. not watching. BOOO!! YUK!!

      • Kel

Are you serious? Sorry Bieber fever can but his paw on everything – as if he’s not on TV enough. There would be no JB without JT and CA. And please. Grow up.

      • Madd

        What happened to real crispy?

      • Wil

        @Madd: I don’t know. Maybe he’s been kidnapped? :/

      “New Moon will win everything…”

Which is why I won’t be watching. Though I am tempted to watch for the Harry Potter clip they’re gonna air. But then again, I can just catch that on YouTube.

      • James

Just watch the HP clip on YouTube. I watched the awards last year for the HP clip and to see Baron Cohen host. The Twilight circle jerk was downright embarrassing and you could tell that many people in the audience were bored/annoyed by it.

      • Gazza

        Harry Potter clip? *Freezes*

      • Liz Lemon

@James: WAIT!!! It’s on youtube?!?! Where!? It’s not the same sneak peek that was on the dvd, they’re supposed to be releasing an entirely new scene.

      • @Liz

It’s not on YouTube YET. I think he meant, skip the show and watch the clip on YouTube afterwards. You don’t HAVE to watch the awards show to see the clip; it’ll be online soon anyway.

      • Liz Lemon

@@Liz: You’ve got a point. I was considering doing that, but I also want to participate in the live blog and I want to see the clip live. Not a grainy version on Youtube. The channel will be changed immediately after they show the clip though.

does anyone care about who wins in this show? seriously? I mean it’s a joke, basically.

  • UGH

MTV Awards are too irrelevant with the awards they give out for LAST year’s movies.
I guarantee you the Moon Man trophies are either in the garbage or are used as doorstops by the winners.

  • S.O.

Well all know New Moon will sweep everything.

  • Johnification

Not gonna lie, I may watch on Sunday just because of Annie and Mandi, or her Aziz-inspired evil alter-ego, MAAAAAAANNNNNDI!

  • Tina

    I want to see Christina!

  • Dan

Christina is more then enough inspiration to watch.

  • Celia

I just want to see the Deathly Hallows clip. That’s all I care about.

    • dee

Me too. I was planning to skip the whole thing, but I may be tempted to tune in for that.

    • LOL

      Will Doc Jensen be there?

    • Kelsey

Same. Apart from the DH clip, I couldn’t care less. And I may just watch it online on YouTube or Mugglenet or something. I don’t want to have it to sit through the entire thing like I did last year.

  • angelina

    You can watch online

New Moon will probably win everything is nominated for, even if it doesn’t deserved it. The highlight of the show will be the preview of Deathly Hollows, a film I can’t wait to see.

  • dizzy

I’ll only watch for the Deathly Hallows clip and for a glimpse of Tom Felton. Otherwise, it looks to be a repeat of last year.

  • SXiPPY

This is going to be as lame as last year and of course New Moon will win for everything. Every year this become a popularity contest more than an actual talent based one. I am glad that Sandra Bullock will be making her first post-scandal appearence though. She is great and shouldn’t be stigmatized by that douche ex of hers. She and Betty White are enough to get me to watch in spite of the cringe-inducing predictability. Katy Perry is likely to be pitchy and suck, while X-tina will yet again copy someone else’s style to present as her own. “Best Kiss” will go to Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, because girl-on-girl always trumps all other contenders.

  • Kevin

Love Aziz but I won’t be watching this awful spectacle.

MTV MOVIE AWARDS: We’re wasting time on ‘em!

  • SXiPPY

Where’s crazy Britney when you need her?

The MTV Movie Awards are an insult to movie fans. Seriously, it’s just an awards show that gives out bs statues to undeserving people and is a showcase for juvenile humor. I remember during the first few MTV Movie Awards when films like JFK, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan, The Fugitive, Schindler’s List, and Philadelphia were nominated. Those were terrific films. Now, we have the minds of the voters polluted by garbage such as Twilight. New Moon does not deserve those nominations. Being a movie fan, I rented it out of curiosity. It was 2 hrs, and literally nothing happened. All the characters do is complain, sob, and mumble their lines throughout the entire movie. As a love story, it’s awful. As a movie, it’s even worse. In the Best Breakout Performance category, Anna Kendrick is nominated for Up in the Air, and Gaboury Sidibe is nominated for Precious. We all know that none of the voters saw these movies. These two films had substance and redeeming qualities. It’s kind of hard to picture the voters watching these movies when they prefer to watch the Twilight saga with its horrible acting and sparkling vampires. And Robert Pattinson for Best Actor? You’ve got to be kidding me. He’s a horrible actor. All he does is mumble his lines and scowl throughout an entire movie. And Kristen Stewart is no different, except she also seems to have a habit of hyperventilating whenever she says her lines. Even though these awards are a complete joke, it was still such a disgrace last year when Twilight won best movie over The Dark Knight. I guess The Dark Knight was too good of a movie for all the tweeny-bopper voters to handle. I know that the MTV Movie Awards are supposed to honor the popular movies, but why not honor the ones that were both praised by audiences and critics alike? Instead of that garbage New Moon, why not nominate Star Trek? I’m proud to say that I will not be watching this crapload of a show; and that as a serious movie fan, I’m way above this type of thing.
