'Glee' DVD exclusive: Three behind-the-scenes clips

Glee-3D-BoxartThe “Power of Madonna” behind-the-scenes clips from Glee: The Complete First Season DVD — watch them embedded after the jump — may cause spontaneous Vogue-ing, Lea Michelle-style squealing and jumping, or the sudden urge to don a corset and finger curls. Consider yourself warned.

Another warning: Posting these teases now is the TV equivalent of getting you a kitty cat, letting you fall in love with that kitty cat, and then sneaking into your home on a cold, dark night to steal it whilst punching you in the face because, you see, the DVD won’t be released until Sept. 14. Yes, that’s September, a.k.a. many long months from now. I have apparently learned a thing or two about cruelty from a certain track suit-wearing hero of mine.

But enough of that, here are some Glee DVD-related facts:
+ I am extremely excited about the promised never-before-seen batch of Sue’s Corners and the DVD’s sing-along karaoke feature.
+ My neighbors are probably NOT excited about the DVD’s sing-along karaoke feature.
+ If you bought the Glee: Volume One: Road to Sectionals, you get a $10 ”Gleebate.” More info here.
+ You should always replace the long “e” sound in words with “Glee” (see: Gleebate), unless you’re saying the word DVD.
+ The Blu-ray and DVD sets are retailed at $69.99 and $59.99, respectively, but if you are one of the millions of people who receive Sunday ads or shop online, you will not be paying that price when it is released.
+ Pre-sales begin Aug. 18, a day after my birthday because the world is cruel.
+ The exclusive clips are below this sentence, but I kind of hope you figured that one out on your own.

What about Glee-VD instead of DVD? Although, I’m not trying to imply a Glee related venereal disease. :)

    • lala

      my bday is 8/17 too!

  • Castiella

I call ‘em GleeVDs, too, Michael, but you’re right: it looks sort of odd typed out like that.

Does anyone know if they’ll be releasing a seperate DVD set of the back nine (Volume 2 or whatever)? Because I already have the first half of the season on DVD.

    • Johnification

I think the “Gleebate” is the best you get.

    • Kerri

I’m not sure where I heard about it, but I’m pretty sure they’re releasing the back nine on separate DVDs.

      • Heidi

I hope so, as much as I love Glee (already bought first 13 episodes) I don’t want to have to buy duplicates.

I know there were some cut musical numbers, (like “Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen, Hello Love” in the first episode of this season), any word if they will be included on the DVD?

    • Andy G.

By which I mean first episode back, not the first episode.

  • Mike

    Lea Michele is too cute.

  • SilentRage

I usually skip through most of the irritating musical numbers and the show can be a little preachy at times, but I will buy this dvd for Sue’s Corners, can’t get enough of that lady.

    • Laura

I am slightly confused…you skip through most of the musical numbers…and yet this show is all about creating situations (the plot) in which musical numbers can be performed…LOL

      • SilentRage

Um, nothing to be confused about. It’s like Nip/Tuck in a sense where most storylines come out of nowhere anyway…Sue keeps this show together for me though.

  • VCI

Why does it have to be released in September I wanted my Glee over the summer filled with extras.

But I’m not going to make the mistake of pre-ordering. I did that for my Daria set and the day it came out it was 15 dollars cheaper.

    • Gator

If you pre order from the right places you will be guaranteed the lowest price. I think amazon does that.

    • Katie

No kidding. I’d kinda been planning on the dvd tiding me over til fall. grumble grumble grumble

    • Margie

I bought Daria from Amazon for $46 but *after* they shipped it, they lowered the price to $27 and gave me a price return.

  • jen_s

What about Jesse doing “Burning Up”? Will that be on the DVD?

    • Anne

      Now wouldn’t that be nice…

  • Nathan

So glad I held out for the full season Blu-Ray and didn’t go for the sectionals DVD, sometimes I actually can show restraint!

  • Marianne

I’m really upset though, they won’t release just the back 9 episodes as well. For all of us…who bought The Road to Sectionals DVD, are totally getting jipped.

    • V

They probably will, if you’re patient. It’s a money-making plan, release all different combos to make people collect them all to fill in the gaps.

  • wendyshena

i bought volume 1 DVD, but I lived in Hong kong, seems like I am not qualified for the Gleebate. its so unfair

  • Learn Programming

    Nice DVD… Just love it..

  • Multi Search Engine

I got it free via search :)

  • Sophie

On amazon they have the back nine episodes up on one box set. so maybe you can buy it seprate :D

  • Gleekx5

Do they include the 23rd episode(the season finale) on this Glee DVD? bc I noticed in the information for the Gleebate it only said 22 one-hour episodes.
