Image Credit: Everett Collection In an incredible act of digital performance art guaranteed to make you laugh/cry with nostalgia, someone has adopted the name “Ferris Bueller” on Twitter, and is currently re-enacting the entirety of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in tweet form. (Sample tweet: “to mr. abe frohman, i sincerely apologize for taking your reservation. i’ll be sure to pick up some of your sausages if it’s any consolation”) The whole day is playing out on Foursquare, too.
It’s currently 4:26 Chicago time. Ferris and friends. We feel a spontaneous urge to sing and dance…

There’s a http://twitter.com/MrAndyDufresne that has been doing Shawshank as well
He or she is doing a pretty good job! Looks like I’ll be watching again this weekend…
There’s also an @sloanepeterson tweeting about the movie, too!! This is so clever!
Well, has anyone checked to see if there’s an @cameronfrye?
I hope there is. We should all comfort him about his relationship with his father.
there’s a jeannie bueller too!
Hoping this doesn’t spread around where ideas are tossed at making a sequel to this.
Kudos to whoever is doing this.
This is pretty cool.
They’re doing it for all seven seasons of buffy and all five for angel. Just search @AngelwithaSoul and @BuffySummers and you’ll find links to everyone else. They even have one for Willow and Tara’s cat.
My inner Buffy/Angel fangirl just went beserk
They should do this for more stuff!
That’s insane. And kinda cool. But wow, some people have a lot of free time on their hands.
They’ve got Cameron, Sloan, Jeanie, Rooney, and even Abe Froman! Whoever did this, I love you!
I love you, too.
Seriously, it was a lot of fun.
Coming soon: episode-by-episode of 24.
This reminds me of the ABC twitter account they made for Castle last summer where they had the interactive mystery…imo, more tv shows/movies should do this, it could help drum up publicity
Pretty stupid.
Hating much? You know you wish you’d thought of it.
And why would she “hate” on the idea? If the people doing this aren’t making any money from it, then it’s hardly an idea worth being jealous of.
Hmmm…wonder what Jake Ryan’s Tweets would be about.
But Ferris Bueller is still a well loved pop culture movie 24 years later and maybe that Twitter name has been into that movie since the ’80s. The character’s aloofness may have made him name his Twitter account that.
Nope! A group of people reenacted Ferris Bueller on twitter yesterday. With all the major characters. It was pretty great to follow along.
