Oh yeah, also might I add, if they detain you as an illegal based on your skin color that is a CRIME and a TORT (meaning the cops can be charged with a crime and then sued on top of that)… So if you’re detained based on skin color they will see your documentation and get in a lot of trouble [probably losing their job]… Which is why that’s NOT how the law is set up.

Read it on your own instead of relying on a comedy writer or someone else behind a desk to give you THEIR biased version of the real story… Seriously.

Immigration is a problem but this law is racist and it will accomplish nothing. This will give law enforcement the right to harass hispanics and not to mention that most illegals tend to be of the indigenous make-up as the spanish/european elite have all the money and power and have no reason to come here illegally. Which also means that Arizona’s huge Native American population will be targeted. And what will happen after all this time and money is spent on this leglislation? We will deport these immigrants and they will just come right back in, and continue the never ending cycle. If Arizona was REALLY sincere about putting a stop to illegal immigration then they would go after all the companies that hire these people. But politicians have no interest in really solving the immigration problem as it provides all their buddies and campaign contributors with an endless supply of cheap labor. This is just legislation to appease the bigots and/or naive people in their state.

I’m half hispanic and brown enough to cause suspicion. I’m against illegal immigration but we cannot deny that the law opens gateways to racial profiling. I’ve been questioned by authorities for no legitimate reason; I’m a guy with a clean record, a college degree, and proud to be an American. It’s easy for a person who’s visibly white to support Arizona’s actions, but it is very annoying for someone like me, who has done no harm to anyone. If the government wants to keep illegals out then build a sustainable fence and penalize those who employ undocumented people. But questioning someone by their looks…is just sad.
