To the left, see the first official image from Marvel’s 2011 Thor flick, starring George Kirk (a.k.a. Chris Hemsworth). And right below that, see Vincent D’Onofrio’s Thor from 1987′s Adventures in Babysitting. And now, let us begin the battle of the Thors: Whose do you like better at first glance? I’m going to go with D’Onofrio’s, because I’ll always side with the unhinged superhero with access to a tire iron. (Plus, he wears a baseball cap. Fun!)

I voted for Vincent because of my endless love for him and all the characters he plays (I miss Goren!).
You said it all, Madd.
Oh Thor, mighty God of thunder!
As long as Brad takes back what he said about Thor, they are both winners to me.
Ah, Brad comes through in the end.
I knew Thor from Adventures in Babysitting looked familiar. Not at all familiar with the comic but I vote for Vincent!
Yeah, I never quite put that one together.
’Cross the Rainbow Bridge of Asgard, where the booming heavens roar.
You’ll behold in breathless wonder, the God of Thunder, Mighty Thor!
you are showing your age, darclyte. “When Capt. America throws his mighty shield, all those who sheild must yield”.
correction: All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield!
You’re both awesome for the references, I loved those cartoons as a kid (showing my own age, lol)
Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues!
Nuh NUH nuh nuh
made my day
R U smoking again?
D’Onofrio’s Thor is one of those “That was him?!” moments, as was his Men In Black role. Dennis Haysbert in Major League is another one.
D’Onofrio is such a chameleon that (other than Goren) every one of his roles is a “That was him?!” moment for me.
Exactly. I JUST found out that was him in Full Metal Jacket.
Agreed. I had to read that line of the article twice. I can’t believe that was him!
Thor fights the forces of darkness! Forces of Darkness, beware!
any party is that fun if you have southside johnny playing
I went to the University of Chicago (which has the following unofficial motto: “Hell DOES freeze over!”) and can attest that NOTHING is fun there.
Thus the unoffocial motto of the U of C: “Where fun goes to die”. Plus the campus has two police forces to protect it: Chicago police and campus police.
Voted for D’Onofrio. I was a comic book fan and I thought he came close to looking like Thor without the full costume. Wow, still can’t believe that was him….
My vote’s for D’Onofrio. These new images are very unimaginative. It started with Tim Burton’s Batman. Must every Hollywood adaptation of comic book characters wear black leather costumes (X-Men, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider)? Now Thor!? The freaking God of Thunder rocks Wilson’s leather!
I thought is was grey / silver and metal not rubber.
We were impressed with the way they have managed to get an “aged” look to his face. I’m looking forward to more.
Oh and the X-Men costumes were pretty much perfect.
“What would you prefer? Yellow Spandex?”
Thor does wear black now. The new Thor comics is where this version of Thor’s costume has been taken from. FYI
To my knowledge, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Thor is a p****…just don’t tell him that to his face.
question of the day: who’s mightier? Jesus Christ or Thor? 2 fictional characters with magic powers but one wields a powerful hammer and the other was nailed to the cross..
Further differences: one is worshipped by hundreds of millions of people. The other is only worshipped by asshats who listen to black metal, drink Jaeger, wear jackboots and swear they’re not gay, all the while gazing admiringly at a ripped blond dude wearing a cape and a shiny beanie with wings on it.
Not all Christians wear jackboots.
Whatever gets the Ladies’ Quilting For Jesus group through the day…
Well, Thor’s got about zilch for followers, which’d be the measure of any “god’s” power on Earth. As for being nailed up on a tree, it only slowed him down. That kinda puts JC up there with Conan the Cimmerian, in my opinion, who also spent a couple days on a cross in the desert before coming back to unleash some wrathy fun.
I admit that I have no interest in Marvel’s Thor, but “Adventures in Babysitting” is awesome.
That was D’Onofrio?!?! I really love Adventures in Babysitting.
