Kristen Wiig is not the maid of honor in a movie just kidding she is and Rose Byrne is a bridesmaid

Kristen-WiigImage Credit: Sylvain Gaboury/PR PhotosRose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O’Dowd have joined Kristen Wiig’s untitled bridesmaid-themed comedy. Judd Apatow will produce; Paul Feig will direct. Wiig wrote the film and will star as a maid of honor competing against a bridesmaid (Byrne) for the attention of the bride. Isn’t it usually the other way around? The wedding party just loafs around while the bride competes for their attention, and when it’s clear they’re more interested in pre-ceremony cocktails than arranging the folds of her needlessly complicated veil, the bride snaps and screams at one of them that she can’t believe that’s what her feet look like post-pedicure and your ogre feet are going to ruin my wedding, bitch! Ah, memories. [Variety]

Just wanted to throw Chris O’Dowd some love.

Nice Judy Grimes reference! I am so excited to see Kristen Wiig in a major lead role.

I want this to be good so badly. I love movies with TV actors/actresses.

    Headline?

    • Judy Grimes

      SNL sketch reference?

  • Sara

Oh good. A wedding movie about competitive women. How fresh and exciting.

  • Brian

Whoa, way to write a movie, Kristen. I’ve hearted you since that first Target Lady sketch.

  • who cares

    how about a little punctuation?

    • Brian

The headline is a Judy Grimes reference. That character’s pattern of speech is one best represented in print without punctuation.

  • Lemon

Hee, this headline cracks me up. As for a competitive-women wedding comedy? …we’ll see.

  • Jenn

To those of you confused, the headline is a reference to Wiig’s EXCEPTIONALLY ANNOYING and UNFUNNY SNL character who always says “just kidding” in the middle of her monologues during Weekend Update. I hate that character with the firey hot passion of a thousand suns. (and no, I am NOT just kidding!)

Hate the idea of the movie, but love the headline. Most of Kristen Wiig’s SNL characters annoy me to no end, but I do love Judy Grimes.

I want to like this movie because of the people involved, but it’s starting to sound like another Bride Wars (well, I think we all realized Bride Wars was going to be awful as soon as Kate Hudson’s name came up-I just had a flashback to her performance in Almost Famous and immediately felt depressed). I mean, my bridesmaids were perfectly fine just kidding two of them got into an argument about who had “dibs” on my husband’s cousin causing my maid of honor to yell “SHUT UP” so loud my mom came running in to make sure everything was okay.

  • Dee

The truly amazing thing about Judy Grimes is the sheer amount of lines that Wiig has to memorize. That is a lot of verbiage.

    • Sara

I just tune her out and marvel that her mouth keeps moving and she doesn’t laugh or stumble over the words…

  • Stage Left

And now Jon Hamm, Dianne Wiest and Matt Lucas are also rumored to join the cast. It’s a smorgasbord of TV talent.
