“Sunny, Sunny, Sunny…” I loved that show! Buffy and Hildegard 4eva!
I remember reading the fall preview describing Bosom Buddies and I said “This is so stupid. How can they do a show based on two guys in drag?” Watched for all three seasons.
Glee is so extremely overrated. It’s an alright show, and I watch it, but Modern Family is a million times better in every way. THAT is the future classic.
I watch and enjoy Glee, albeit with the realization that I’m always going to be annoyed by plotting/characterization/continuity, or the lack thereof. I have to agree that Modern Family deserves the title “Future Classic” so much more than Glee does. I love The Middle, too, but I see MF as holding up for a long time. We happily watch the rerun episodes, even if we’ve just seen them.
Could not agree more …
I loved Bosom Buddies and The Love Boat! Never missed either. I was young but they were so wholesome anyone could watch. I used to live for the episodes of The Love Boat when Charo or the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders were on. I’d get up and try to dance and do their routines. Such memories. Wish they still made shows that you could let your kids watch w/out worrying about language and adult situations even at 8 pm!
I miss The Love Boat–I wish it were still on in reruns. Cheesy and unrealistic, sure, but the end of every episode was generally a happy one.
Yes, Peter Boyle and Robert Culp were both mentioned. There wasn’t any mention of Dixie Carter; “Designing Women” wasn’t honored this year. And they tried to get Kate Jackson but she snubbed them.
Seriously, I can’t believe people are eating up ‘Glee’. Come on people, it is such garbage. Mellow dramatic plots with cover tunes. This is considered genius? With all the other shows on TV with brilliant writing and talented actors, they are honoring some piece of fluff that is probably bound to die within the next year or so by sheer exhaustion. The show is like a three year-old running around in circles after a sugar high.
Well, she’ll be turning 50 this year, so she’d be in her 80s.
And she’s probably making a joke about the age difference between her and the majority of her co-stars.
I thought it was funny.
I watched the awards because of Glee, but I probably won’t be watching again. Why couldn’t they have let all the cast members speak, like they did for the preceding shows? It was disappointing.
As for TV Land’s new sitcom, which they promoted, I don’t think that show will be hailed as a future classic.
Guess I was one of the few who caught Bosom Buddies on my radar. It seemed to be classic corn – some like it hot for TV. Did they mention Wendy Jo Sperber at all? She was great in the show but passed away a few years ago…..
Pretty much every Bosom Buddies cast member paid tribute to Wendie Jo when they had a chance at the microphone. I thought it was very sweet that they honored her.
I loved Bosom Buddies and I had such a crush on Peter Scolari! And I love, love, love that global movie star/producer/Oscar-winner Tom Hanks embraces his humble TV show beginnings. I had to roll my eyes at the Everybody Loves Raymond reunion, though. I mean, come on, it’s only been off the air for five years. You just know that TVLand only did that so they could promote that fact that they’re now airing repeats of the show.
I loved Bosom Buddies when it was on. I was living in Ohio at the time so having Kip and Henry from the Cleveland area and attending Ohio State was cool to this 20-year-old.
Guess I’ll add Bosom Buddies to my Netflix queue!
are you going to show a repeat of the tvland awards soon?
Surprisingly entertaining show. Loved seeing all the old faces from the 70s, especially. And especially refreshing to see everyone so genuinely happy and to hear speeches from multiple cast members. And that last ‘glee’-like number from the sit-com actors/actresses was just gold; I actually choked up a bit. It was cool, too, that they all got so into it and didn’t seem to care what anyone thought. This whole show was cheesy in the best sense, glad I caught it.
