I’ve got to hand it to Zoe Saldana: The girl is clearly making up for her Oscar dress debacle with a parade of smart choices on the red carpet recently, including this edgy suede Balmain number she wore to last night’s premiere of The Losers (left).
Taking a step back, Saldana has experienced an interesting trajectory in the world of red carpet fashion. Last spring she came up from what seemed like out of nowhere to wow us with consistently beautiful pieces while promoting Star Trek. Thanks to that summer blockbuster, her name got more bold-faced by the second and pretty soon she was appearing on red carpets left and right, showing off her style acumen.
Then late last year, she appeared in a small indie flick called Avatar. That tiny James Cameron film went on to become a huge success (something about 3-D technology, I hear) and Saldana went on to pull out all the fashion stops while promoting the movie. Naturally, such a high grossing movie went on to earn quite a few nods at the Oscars, and for Hollywood’s biggest night, what did our style queen choose? A confused, lavender mess that looked more Moulin Rouge than Academy Awards. Those of us who had faith in Saldana felt shocked and simultaneously betrayed. How could she do this to us, and on Oscar night, no less?!
Well, payback’s a bitch, yet somehow, a recent flow of good deeds in the form of awesome red carpet looks has made us almost forget the Givenchy catastrophe she wore in March. Saldana, you’re back on that throne…for now.
What do you guys think of Saldana’s look last night? And is she back in your good graces?

definetly redeemed herself
I want to sex with her LONG TIME!
That dress looks like something that would be worn on Star Trek–and not in a good way.
She looks great, Balmain is always a great choice. Hope she keeps it up (and maybe has a burger, is it me, or is she REALLY skinny?)!
It’s not like she’s anorexic. Not everyone has to be a size 18.
She’s a dancer; she has a dancer’s body. I have no problem with skinny when it’s someone’s natural body type.
Really? is the red carpet the place to wear a beach cover up? It looks OK cause she is stunningly gorgeous, and the shoes rock, but the dress is only basic.
Sorry she is so thin and just to over the top as always for me. Then again she has no talent so thin works I guess
Am I the only one that liked her Oscar dress? Fashion is so subjective as it is…
No you weren’t the only one. The only ones who were “confused were those who don’t know or don’t get Givenchy.
sorry no, but some extra weight would look good on her
is that the best way to link to all her recent looks, by using linked words like “parade”, “smart”, “choices”, “left” and “right”? come on, that’s sloppy.
A lot of people liked her Oscar dress, myself included (just check FashionSpot). She doesn’t play it safe which keeps it interesting.
The shoes are cute. The dress however, is not.
I didn’t hate the oscar dress, I would not call it a debacle. The ruffle skirt was over the top but the rest was gorgeous.
i prefer her in black panties and high heels, top optional
Not those shoes. But this gorgeous woman never looks bad.
i liked her oscar dress by the way, she allways looks good shes my fashion idol
I LOVED her oscar dress, and I really feel bad for those who didn’t get it.
