Aziz Ansari gives you five reasons to watch as he hosts the MTV Movie Awards

Aziz-Ansari-mtvImage Credit: Soul Brother/FilmMagic.comHere’s a hosting announcement that makes us giddy/giggly: Aziz Ansari — who routinely swipes scenes as Diddy-in-training Tom Haverford on NBC’s Parks and Recreation — shall serve as emcee of the 19th annual MTV Movie Awards, which will be broadcast live on June 6. “I thought it would be a good fit — I love doing stand-up and I love making short films,” notes Ansari. He adds: “Hopefully this is a stepping stone to hosting the Nickelodeon Toddlers’ Choice Awards. It’s a new awards show that I’m pitching to Nickelodeon. The thing about that is, you don’t know who’s going to win. It could be like, Favorite Movie: Peanut Butter. ‘But that’s not even a movie!’ ‘Well, they want peanut butter, so that’s the winner.'” We asked the breakout comedian/Human Giant star/Bieber nemesis, who also appears in June 4’s Get Him to the Greek, for five reasons to tune in to MTV’s night of golden popcorn. See his answers after the jump. (Hint: One involves Michael Bay and genitalia. If that doesn’t get you to take a look, we don’t know what will!)

1. “The Awards! Who will win Best Villain? Will it be the Nixon administration in The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers or will it be Systemic Urban Inequality in The Blind Side?”

2. “Watch me promote my upcoming film Sex and the City 2, where I take over the role of Charlotte.”

3. “Watch, not one, but three parodies of Invictus that I have planned. (Keep an eye out for cameos from several people that were interviewed for the documentary Food, Inc.)”

4. “I will finally address my longstanding feud with Forest Whitaker.”

5. “To top last year’s Bruno-Eminem moment, Michael Bay has agreed to whip his b—s out at some point during the show.”

  • Anthony

    Funny guy.

    • LOL

      Will DJ Roomba be there?

  • Katja

Um, the peanut butter thing was hilarious. I have loved this guy since I first saw him on Scrubs…he’s just so damn funny! It’s enough to make me consider stopping to watch the MTV Movie Awards if I’m flipping through channels and come across it. And despite what it sounds like, that’s saying a LOT.

I hope it’s a tie and Systemic Urban Inequality ends up making out with the dolphin hunters from “The Cove”, that’d be SICK, y’all!

    • Theresa

      Haha, nice.

      • TR

i heard that dolphins are just gay sharks…

HOORAY! Love it when big stars from ratings bonanza’s like “Parks and Rec” and “Scrubs” get the chance to be too hip for the room! Zzzzzz…Was Tom Green busy?

    • Goober

Yeah because every other big actor who hosts the MTV movie awards do so good(said with a great amount of sarcasm)

    • Theresa

Have you even seen the guy’s stand up? He’s pretty hilarious in his own right so why don’t you do some research before behaving like an ass?

    • Johnification

Obviously he’s not a big-headline star, so shouldn’t that tip you off that he’s, maybe, I dunno, ACTUALLY FUNNY? Seriously, watch some of his standup. Or Parks and Rec.

The MTV Movie Awards are nothing but a disgrace to movies. It’s just going to be a bunch of tweeny-boppers voting for Twilight, yet again.

    • Penny

Nobody gives a crap who wins, that’s the least important part of the show.

      • Liz Lemon

This is true. The most important part: the EXCLUSIVE Deathly Hallows clip!!
Who cares about the winners? It’s an MTV movie award…they’re just the cable version of the Teen Choice Awards.

  • Matthew Thomas

I’m so looking forward to this. I hope he rips apart every movie nominated given most of the movies MTV nominates are crap.

  • Sydney

I’m so excited for Aziz!! I love love love his comedy but I’m kind of sad having to share him with the rest of the world now. Peanut butter ftw!

    • TH

ugh… I liked (insert show/person/band/etc.) before it was cool. New fans just don’t get/like it like I do.

  • LOL

Why does it say “after the jump?” There is no jump.

  • Sharlin

    No, I won’t be watching.

  • Danny B

And is that supposed to be humor? Not one single thing made my mouth even go in the direction of a smile. This guy sucks

    • Liz Lemon

Agreed. I don’t find him funny. There’s one small scene of his in “I Love You, Man” that makes me laugh, but other than that…he makes me feel nothing. I’m completely indifferent to him.

hi i m sana can u frdship with me i m maried and my 3 kides i liv in karachi pakistan

  • Jennifer

Not watching it live. I’m going to TiVo it, then go back later, fast-forward through the crap parts (read: anything to do with Twilight) and watch the skits, the musical acts and the Deathly Hallows clip.

  • Adwina Lambert

will you make fun of your curry odor? tee-hee!

    • junior

i think you should wait when that damn camel start’s reallllllllly baddddd….

  • Aziz Fan

grow up….whats with the racist comments?

even if you don’t like the guys comedic style that’s cool just don’t go to the lowest common denominator.
