On today’s Ellen Degeneres Show, American Idol‘s Andrew “Am. I. A. Page. In. Your. His. Tor. Y. Book?” Garcia ripped off his jacket to execute a full-twisting handstand. Where was this rare talent all season? He surely could have pulled it out during “Forever” and the judges would have gushed and gushed. Randy would say “You know? I mean. I’m telling you! Baby? I love you. Yeah, it was hot!” Then it would be Mary Murphy’s turn: “Waaaaaaaahhhhhh-oww!” Mary would chime in. Guest judge Lil C would just glare at Andrew and then deliver spoken-word poetry about, like, labor laws. And Simon would just walk out. Watch Andrew perform “Sunday Morning” after the jump.

it was good then, still pretty good (not great). agreed way better than anything he did on the show other than straight up.
i think his issue is that he does not have an especially strong range so he has trouble finding songs and quickly adapting them for the competition. but songs he’s arranged and trained on for long enough, like during his audition and hollywood week, sound pretty good.
Wish he had performed that on AI.
Poor Andrew. He is so much better than what he showed on Idol, but I stand by my opinion that if the judges had praised him even when he wasn’t great (like most of the other contestants), he would still be there, and people would still be rooting for him.
You may be right that a little love from the judges would have gone a long way. But I’m not sure I agree the judges are giving out praise too generously.
He should be thankful….this is about as far in the music business as he’s going.
I agree with Katie! I think that song would have kept him around for at least another week. I dont think that he would have won though, he lacks personality but I hope that he gets a record deal because I love his voice!
I will not be given a chance to sing this song because AI always have theme nights. I agree that themes such as Rolling Stones, the Beatles and Elvis Presley definitely didn’t do well with Andrew’s voice. The only good song he did besides Straight Up was Forever by Chris Brown and that was during RNB week. I say, he could have taken advantage of the Semifinals when the songs to sing weren’t so limited. I saw his vids in Youtube and it was great listening to him singing all those contemporary songs, I just wished he stuck on the songs he did best and sang well rather than take on songs that doesn’t fit his voice. He could have gained more fans by then.

People always say ‘this person should be a star’, but it takes more than a few quirky tricks to be one.

Oh and another thing about ‘he should get a record deal’. All fans under 30 now download maybe one song from an artist? And many are not legal downloads, so any “record deal” for Andrew, Alex Lambert, or Lily will not make them rolling in $$, since the days of people running to stores to buy a whole CD/LP release is over.
Um I’m confused. I don’t watch AI but I’m pretty sure Mary Murphy and Lil C’ are from SYTYCD…or am I just missing a sarcastic joke. This is prob why I don’t watch reality competitions haha
It was a joke because he did that dance.. and he did the twisting handstand.. so.. he was an idol contestant, doing SYTYCD type stuff.. so.. it started off with randy.. and ran into SYTYCD judges.. Hope that helps!

I cannot for the life of me understand WHY andrew didn’t do acoustic guitar and him just singing during elvis week, why oh why? he did that ONCE in “forever” and it was greatness. All the other times he just stood up to sing, the judges really, really messed him up, instead of giving him ways to improve they just bashed him over and over, not once did they give him good advice, like they did for Casey, when Kara said just sing with the guitar and he did jealous guy and it was good, why Andrew didn’t you just sing and play your guitar? If you had, you would still be competing. I am so sad you are out, I am not watching AI anymore, they did you injustice. You started out strong, and the judges broke you down. You were the best one on the show I wish you would have stayed true to what you do best instead of listening to the judges. Next week “go the distance” just with the guitar would have been so powerful, why didn’t you do it earlier????
Andrew should have worked with his strengths not take on a song he hardly knew. The judges didn’t bother to give him some sound advice because they wanted him to be eliminated due to poor showing during the live shows.
Don*t underestimate Mr. Garcia. My call is that he*ll be at the Latin Grammys in a few years; nominated in several categories.
I am tired of AI always pushing their agenda..Last year was Adam (lost) ..this year it’s Crystal who I honestly am already bored with…same thing every week yet they have a Crystal “love fest” week after week while telling everyone else that they are always doing the same thing every week….well HELLO….I like Andrew…he seems like a nice guy who loves his family…he is better off not winning…he will be far more successful. hes only got like 5 songs in his repertoire that he can sing. whats up with that?? If he can’t sing other songs..he can’t make it on american idol. plain and simple..no need to start blaming the judges for his lack of versatility.
