But perhaps that’s because I have an affinity for pop culture-centric sports league team names. (Who doesn’t?) My bowling team, for one, is named “We Drink Your Milkshakes,” since we felt we could intimidate our competition by referencing a scene from There Will Be Blood involving milkshakes, bowling pins, and blunt force trauma. (Fun!) And I guess it’s working, because we’re headed to the playoffs tonight! (That is, after besting a SyFy-inspired team, “Imagine Gutter.”)

my senior year of high school me and the other cheerleaders were playing in a charity softball tournament and i suggested we call our team the bluth company. no one else at the time watched arreseted development (of course) so we ended up being…the spice girls. really.
In our 5-man team league we were “Pontius Pilate and the Nail Drivers” I know not very christian like, but it got a big laugh. And after every strike we would yell a “Nail Drivers!!”

I’ve been on a team named “What would Jesus bowl?” So I understand the not so Christian-like names. It did get laughs, though!
For indoor soccer, the Zion Lions and Robot Clergy (bringing salvation from deep space…robot style!).
My fantasy football team is the Sweet Nibblets (a Hannah Montana reference). Imagine how masculine all the dudes in my league felt when I won two seasons ago
My Zogsports touch football team is called “Rule 76″ from ‘Wedding Crashers”. No excuses. Play Like A Champion
My dodgeball team is the “Riverbottom Nightmare Band” from Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Country Christmas. The lyrics are perfect for use by any team.

When I was 12 and on a bowling league, I named our team “Strike Force” and thought I was the coolest thing EVER!
I had a fantasy football team named “The DEATHSTARters” and a GI Joe inspired team named “Nemesis Enforcers”
Not sports per se, but I was on a Pub Quiz team called “30 Helens Agree” (Kids in the Hall reference).
My husband’s Chemistry League softball team was way dorkier than The Wesley *Crushers* they were the 6-31G All-Stars (Came from the Chemistry Basis set 6-31G*). I feel like I live in BBT sometimes…
