“All other options, Im’ma let you finish, but The West Wing “Two Cathedrals” was one of the best episodes of television of all time!”
    Poll officially Kanyed.
(When does the statute of limitations run out on a joke?)

    • Johnification

If it includes an Aaron Sorkin shout-out, never.

    • C

In that particular case, almost immediately just because of the sheer volume of “imma let you finish” jokes in the months following the actualy Kanye event.

I still contend, much though I LOVE Lost, that it should not be eligible for this particular poll because of the format of the show and the relative “un-specialness” of the flashback episodes.

    • Lars

First off, I think both of the episodes listed are pivotal to the show and not “un-special” at all. However, that being said, I also think Lost shouldn’t be included because that’s the major set-up for the show (learning about these folks pasts to understand the decisions they make now) much in the same way that How I Met Your Mother is nothing but flashbacks because that’s the story telling device being used.

I disagree about not counting Lost in the poll. Lost has Flashbacks, Flashforwards, and Flashsideways. To say that it is purely a Flashback show is innacurate. Of all the flashback episodes, Walkabout was the best.

      • Johnification

Yup, I also agree about HIMYM. Although MAAAAYBE “Arrividerci Fiyero” would be an exception since it was primarily set in the past. Kinda like Lost’s “Ab Aeterno”.

  • Karen B

House should be called “Three Stories”, not “The Stories”

    • Devin

that’s what I was going to say.

  • Remy

Thanks for including Greek’s “Freshman Daze”. I know the show doesn’t have a huge audience, but that’s one of my favorite episodes of the series.

    • Remy

Also, “Game Night” from HIMYM and
“The Parts in the Sum of the Whole” from Bones were seriously epic.

  • Mells

SO hard to choose. I love, love, LOVED last night’s Bones but for me the vote came down to the Alias pilot and the BSG episode. They were both so special but in the end I voted for BSG – b/c there was just so much heartbreak in those flashbacks. A really great episode.

  • Dan Daoust

Seeing this poll, I’m amazed at how little t.v. I apparently watch. Hooray for me, I guess.

  • Elizabeth

How many votes am I allowed?

Wow – this a tough one. Good job PW’ers!

  • steph

Jurassic Bark brought tears to my eyes :( such a good flashback!

    • niki

Is that the one where the little dog dies at the end? Bc that was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.

    • Ambee

Luckily remedied in the movies to not be quite as sad, but I definitely cried. I had a hard time choosing between The Luck… and Jurassic Bark, but for shear tear-inducing-moment, I’m going for Jurassic.

    • Dyana

Just thinking about the episode makes me want to cry. Hold me!

  • lynne3

Wow I forgot about The X Files “Bad Blood”- best episode of the entire series.

    • abby

      I AGREE!

  • KM

AHHH choosing between the Alias pilot and last night’s Bones is just too much to handle. The Alias pilot remains one of my favorite TV episodes of all time, but last night’s Bones still has me all bubbly and swooning over Booth–plus it was a more traditional “flashback”–so I’ll give my vote to Bones this time.

  • Jenn

WHAT are you doing to me EW?!!??! Trying to choose between Two Cathedrals and Out of Gas might kill me.

  • robinepowell

I picked Gilmore Girls “Dear Emily and Richard”. That was the best flashback episode ever. From the time Rory was concieved, to the time she was born.

Is anyone else having trouble seeing some of the poll results? The ads on the right are blocking me from seeing some of the percentage numbers.

  • John W

How does Company Man have so few votes? It might not be the best, but it’s definitely in the top 3. Fantastic episode; definitely best of the series.

  • Gregoire

If the Northern Exposure episode ‘Cicely’ isn’t winning, that means people haven’t seen it. It is quite possibly one of the greatest hours of television I’ve ever seen.

  • Jen

    Bones? Really?

    • Nikki

Seriously lol Then again, you can vote more than once. So, I’m sure the fans are constantly voting over and over so they can win. I dislike polls where you can vote more than once. It takes away from the point of the poll.

    • Ambee

Although it was an amazing episode (Amazing), I really think its huge lead is mostly due to its freshness.

      • elr

I have to agree. I voted for Bones because I only remember a few of the stories that are listed here. A line or two of the summary might have helped people decide. Also I think there are too many listed to pick from.
