I like that these commentaries are very informative and can tie the plot to numerous other sources in literature, music, art, etc. I read a lot, but these commentaries make me realize that there are many other mystery/adventure books out there that haven’t read yet, but would probably enjoy.

He wants to sound smarter than he really is. It’s a dirty little secret in the EW world. Happens all the time with Slezak with American Idol and Dalton Ross with Survivor. They have the inside scoop months in advance and use it to spout predictions in their weekly recaps that have the strangest tendency to come true.

Nihilistic, I must thank you for your earlier comments about the women who post positive comments here. I had no idea I was leading such a lonely life! I guess I must have missed that fact, what with a husband, two small children, full time job, & extended family all living in the same town. I had no freaking clue I was lonely!
Great episode! What is up with the blurred guy in the background when Dan is directing? I noticed that and got distracted. Is he supposed to be a surprise or did he not sign a waiver?
Tonights ep will SURELY be better than last weeks garbage. We get a Ben-centric hour,followed in 2 wks with a LONG overdue RICHARD ALPERT hour!! 12 hrs left of episodes,before the majority of us are going to be letdown with the series wrap-up (i just feel it). LOST will still go down as a top 10 all-time tv great. Enjoy ‘Dr.Linus’ tonight,folks.
i agree. i also could not care less about sideways world. major time waster. how is it we have still not had a black rock episode?
I know! There are so many questions that could be answered, so much content that we care to see, yet we are stuck with sideways.
I like the sideways twist. It answers the question of what their lives would have been like. Plus, I don’t think they are doing it just to answer that question alone. If you notice a lot has changed in the sideways view. Desmond on the plane, Shannon not being. I think end the end only one person gets to inherit the island, and that they are going to making so the rest never actually came to it and all the things from that period never existed which is why the island is underwater now. And it obvious Jack will inherit it.

I wish there was more Island Lost and less or no Sideflashes Lost. I can’t get myself to care about side-characters, they are not the same people as the island characters, because they were different people before the island and the island experiences made them who they are and made me like who they became.
Couldn’t disagree more. The sideways world is more interesing than the island world.

I really don’t think this late in the game that they are just going to throw a “what if scenario” into the mix if it didn’t somehow relate to what we have seen for the past five seasons. Plus these character’s keep having this “wait this isn’t right” kinda moments.
I agree with you Lane. I think the flash sideways slow down the momentum of the island story and I rarely find them compelling. I assume they’ll tie them back in somehow, but I think they should have set up how beforehand. I find myself really not caring, and actually a little insulted. Like we’re supposed to ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’ about seeing them cross paths.
I read that the sideways stories will stop in the middle of the season and it will be all on the island until the end. So that should make people happy who don’t like them. Personally, I like them, but would also like to see them do a straight shot of nothing but the island.
I agree 100 percent. I know somehow they will tie into the big picture, but I can only be patient for so long. What bugs me the most are the new “questions” they’re setting up in the sideways i.e. How did Locke get paralyzed? Who is David’s mother? Does Sun really not speak english? Is Kate really innocent? I mean who cares? It’s one thing to show us the alternate timeline but another to expect us to be so wrapped up in it like we were the first time around.

Exactly, I also understand that they may have subconscious connections to one another, and that all of it is likely to converge at the end. But until it does and they somehow become conscious of their island experiences, I will have problems carrying for them. And Billy, you are right, too many unknowns in sideways!
I think that if they didn’t have all the sideways stuff now, people would complain at the end of the season they never got to see what their lives would have been like. Especially if it ends with the plane landing.

I think Smokey may just convince Kate to join his team on her own. After all, he’s promising to get people off the island. The whole reason she came back was to get Claire and reunite her with Aaron. She’s going to need to get her and Claire off the island somehow.
I think I remember reading somewhere about Fox talking about how Jack begins to accept that he’s never getting off the island and he might be resigned that others shouldn’t be getting off the island as well.
i think it remains to be seen whether or not Kate will still want to reunite Crazy as Batshit Claire with her beloved Aaron…

love lily. she is a great actress but i hate Kate’s character. She always manages to mess everything up for everybody. And she will probably do that for pseudo-Locke too.
What character was blurred out in the background of the on set piece. It wasnt just the face–it was the whole body. My guess–Shannon.

hmmm… okay. We were watching different shows. Based on the teasers I don’t have high hopes for this one, either. But hopefully the Alpert ep. will be a game-changer. We’ll see. I’m kinda with WeHaveToGoBack on this one.
I can’t wait to see the Richard episode. I want to see how the island got that way when they wall through it all using his character.
Sayid never interested me, but his conversations with Dogen and FLocke were intriguing, as was the ending to this episode. I was pumped to see Nadia again even though it was tragic to see them still be apart.
And I’m wondering why the episode order didn’t follow season 1, according to the Doc. Was that a conscious choice or an interesting substitute? Who knows…except claire’s gone crazy, sayid’s a new murderer, and I need some sawyer, STAT.
The episode order wouldn’t be able to completely follow season 1 anyway. If it did, we wouldn’t get a Ben episode or a Richard episode. And tonight’s episode would have to be a Charlie episode, and it’s obvious that won’t happen at all this season. We may get a couple more appearances from Dominic Monaghan this season, but doubtful he’ll get his own episode.
Even if every single guess that Doc and Dan have made turns out to be completely wrong I still love these guys and SO appreciate all the work and research they put into their efforts. They have made watching the show even more enjoyable. All the haters out there need to get a life. This is all meant as ENTERTAINMENT.
