I haven’t seen All About Steve – but its clear to me that it was a modern day take on All About Eve – the great movie with Bette Davis as Margo Channing, a Broadway Actress, who is stalked by a wanna be actress named Eve Harrington played by Anne Baxter. All about Eve was nominated for 14 Oscars, a feat not seen again until the Titanic. Bette Davis won the best actress award, and Anne Baxter won for supporting actress. So – its ironic that Bullock won the Razzie for a role that was a play on one of the greatest films ever made and written. All About Eve is #16 on AFI’s list of the 100 greatest movies ever made. All About Steve is not on that list.
I love Sandra Bullock.. Her acceptance speech was so awesome!!! I hope she wins the Oscar tonight.. Even though I wont be able to see it because of CABLEVISION ARGGG.. soo angry!!!!!!!
Sandra is a winner always. Here is proof again of her exceptionalness( yeah, I know thats a new word – remember it. )
I liked Halle Berry’s appearance when she “won” for “Catwoman” much more than Bullock’s. Other than her, Berry actually admitted that the movie wasn’t the best (and rather the worst) of her career and also that her performance was less than stellar, which, I think, Bullock failed to do. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have asked the audience to re-consider their vote and that she will give the award back. I would have liked it more, if she somehow admitted that the movie failed, and so did she as an actress. Though, I totally admire that she showed up.
“Catwoman” was truly awful, and Halle Berry gave an awful performance. “All About Steve” was a bad movie, but Bullock was spot on with her performance.
very medicore actress- very deserving of the razzi- not in 100 years should she win an oscar. i agree with tommy
I haven’t seen The Blind side so I can’t speak to that point, but she is in no way a mediocre actress. If anything she’s severely underrated,, especially as one of better, modern day “screwball” actresses.
I agree. I think people really underestimate how hard it is to be great at comedy.
Well, she’s adorable and mostly making a point of being herself in a profession where being someone else is the job. I wish our politicians could do as well. Don’t care who wins and I’m not sure the prize is all that important with these two. Excellence and having fun seems to be what they do.
Jul – She did not deny that the movie was bad. She admitted in other interviews that her experience with the movie was awful. She was talking abt her performance at the razzies. I think she did the role well in a very bad movie.
Anyone who thinks that she is a mediocre actress doesn’t know acting. Her comedic skill is superb. Go watch Infamous for her best turn in a dramatic role.
Come back home to Tybee Sandy before we get swamped by the tourists.
Sandra rocks. Period. She has always been genuine, humerous, and respectably talented. Her work in ‘All about Steve’ was a spot on portrayal of completely ditz. This was not Oscar material – it was a funny if not ridiculous film. Her acting tho was not – she nailed it and props to her for that and ‘The Blind Side’.
There’s no way her performance was the worst. In fact she played her part extremely well; it’s just, for whatever reason a lot of people didn’t like the character.
I’ve loved Miss S from the moment she yelled “Sorry!” as she rammed into people with a 10-ton bus. Seeing her in interviews, she always exudes this kind of good-natured enthusiasm. Seems like the kind of person it would be fun to know.
You Bullock people wanna play the immature game? The Streepers can to.
“WAAAHH WAAAAH WAAAAH SANDRA DESERVES IT BECAUSE IT’S A LONG OVERDUE NOMINATION AND SHE’LL NEVER BE NOMINATED AGAIN WAAAH WAAAAH WAAAAAH”
Grow up, Bullock fans. Grow up.
Um, not all Sandra Bullock fans think that. And I’m sure both Sandra and Meryl will continue to be happy and successful no matter what happens.
Kevin, chill out, dude. If you’re a Streeper then you should emulate your idol by exuding some dignity and poise.
At least Meryl has the class and career to backup her 16 OSCAR NOMINATIONS.
What I find hysterical is that I watched All About Steve about a week AFTER TBS and Sandra was AWESOME in that film! I laughed, I howled, I smiled, giggled, and cried – all I remember thinking was “dayum u Sandra, two movies in the same week!” Too many people criticize that film without seeing it and it was pretty good, so I for 1 am glad Sandra won the Razzie and came out with the red wagon – both Sandra and Halle have shown they can laugh at themselves w/ the Razzies and it makes me like like them even more for it.
Gotta give her props for showing up. It was funny.
