If you don’t know Zoe Kazan’s name yet, you will soon. The granddaughter of Elia Kazan has been causing quite a stir with her memorable supporting roles (such as naughty secretary Maureen in Revolutionary Road and Meryl Streep’s daughter Gabby in It’s Complicated), and now she’s getting her first starring role. In Bradley Rust Gray’s Tribeca Film Festival hit The Exploding Girl, she plays a college student home in New York for Spring Break whose life gets more complicated when she has changing feelings about a long-time platonic friend and her boyfriend back at school. Moody twentysomethings, spring in New York, hints of romance AND sadness — I’m certainly going to be watching this one.
The Exploding Girl opens starting March 12. Anyone else been impressed by Zoe Kazan in her supporting appearances so far?
I’ve been a fan from the moment I saw her in Revolutionary Road, her grandfather was one heck of a great director as well.
She’s also one of the darlings of the American theatre scene, and has been for a bit now. She was fabulous in Chekhov’s “The Seagull”, and even though I’m living abroad at the moment, I would love to see her in McDonagh’s “A Behanding in Spokane”. Martin McDonagh + Christopher Walker + Zoe Kazan = pure win.
And she dates Paul Dano! What a lucky girl.

Saw her in “A Behanding in Spokane” this past Thursday. A divine cast! Was mesmerizing and went toe-to-toe with Walken, Rockwell and Mackie. Really looking forward to her upcoming work.
