Who should Tiger Woods apologize to? An Aaron Sorkin deja vu.

As Tiger Woods readies for his tightly controlled apology today, many are asking: So, to whom exactly does the golf star need to apologize in order to make this “sorry” plea stick — wife Elin, his kids, fans, the revolving door of women? Maybe he should take a page out of the Aaron Sorkin playbook and hone his apology into something truly meaningful, like Dan did on this 1998 episode of Sports Night, when the network brass wanted him to make an apology for drug-use comments he made in Esquire magazine.

Find someone to truly apologize to, Tiger, and maybe it’ll stick?

unless your a business partner or family member you deserve no apology. If you bought into his marketing over the years and elevated him to above human standards than your just a mindless fool.

Tiger Woods elevated himself to the those standards for Nike, Gatorate, etc. The public just believed what he wanted them to believe.

Oh who cares. Tiger isn’t doing this out of contrition. He’s doing it to protect his brand. It’s a PR statement, as meaningless as it is calculated and controlled.

Absolutely correct. Same goes to any politician, sports star, or public figure forced to apologize after they’ve been caught red handed. It’s easy to be contrite when there’s nothing left to lose.

Who cares about Tiger? That was a great television show!

Will from The Good Wife was on Sports Night? Holy f, I totally forgot! He’s still a very fine (looking) actor. Eh, Tiger can go hide somewhere until the next huge scandal hits.

Tiger-schmiger – Sports Night was the best thing on TV – I sure do miss that show.

I must live up to my reputation as an annoying pain in the butt, so here goes: The Starland Vocal Band won the Best New Artist grammy in 1976, not 1978. In 1978, it was the great A Taste Of Honey (“Boogie Oogie Oogie”) who beat Elvis Costello for Best New Artist.

Sports Night clips are always a good idea.

wow I can not believe that the media has dug so deep into Tiger. When the white house personnel did not get this much publisity. Please leave it alone and get on whit some real News like looking for children and keeping us informed about the men over sea’s. We hear about there deaths. Please this is getting so sickening these women that are coming out of the wood works that oh I didn’t know I thought I was his only mistress wow how sick of these women now it will be a pay off which that’s what they are waiting for because why would they come out and put there face on TV they are an abarasment to all women I don’t care what they do to make there money but if your going to put it out there most man are going to take it and not think of the consiquinces. They need to get a life and a man of there own. He owe’s the media nothing the media needs to get back on track and put out news. Stop pointing fingers if you want to make a soap opra out of everything join the soaps and get someone in there that can give out the news. It would be a safer world for us all the media is what drives americans off the deep end. For those americans who are so interested in someone elses personal life need to get a life of there own apparantly there life has not interest.

I’m sorry, I1959: I would like to focus on your opinion, but your spelling and grammar are absolutely atrocious. It’s so embarrassing that I almost can’t handle it.

Thanks, now I am going to waste at least an hour watching Sports Night clips on You Tube.

Sports Night was 12 years ago? Man, it seems like it was just canceled. I loved that show–yet another show that ABC canceled too soon.

Crap this comment made me feel old.

  • ian

Yeah, I just watched the Tiger apology, and then I watched this Sprots Night clip and cried a little. This show is four billion times more emotionally resonant.

  • Aimee

In my opinion, this clip is the single best moment in both Sports Nights seasons. When I think of SN, I always think of this scene – so amazing! And after the apology, when they lighten things up with “Afternoon Delight” playing in the background….brilliant! Josh Charles did an amazing job! So good!

  • Anna

I really didn’t care for Sports Night when it first aired. Maybe I should try it again.

  • Marianne

To his family – that would be the most important. That’s who he really let down.
